The HOKA Rocket Running fast times at distances up to the marathon is easy with the Rocket, which is also good for long runs at a higher pace. Designed to increase your speed, stability and confidence during every race. Go for gold with this competition shoe! Midsole HOKA has added PROFLY to make your runs as comfortable as possible. PROFLY provides a cushioned landing and a responsive take-off, leading to a uniquely soft yet snappy running feeling. The PROFLY midsole combines light, responsive foam with ultra-soft foam underfoot to create a responsive and lightweight midsole. The Early stage Meta-Rocker geometry contributes to a quick gait of the feet, as the transition zone is placed behind the metatarsal bones. This ensures a smoother step and a faster transition to the forefoot, which contributes to an explosive feeling. The full-length carbon plate provides a smooth and fast gait of the feet and returns a lot of energy while walking. In addition, the plate provides extra stability and makes your steps longer. Upper The upper of the Rocket is made of mesh, for good breathability. To keep the tongue centered and prevent dirt from entering the shoe, a pleated tongue is connected to both sides of the upper. Outsole The outsole is made of Durabrasion rubber and has a coarse profile for great grip on any type of surface. Zones of abrasion-resistant rubber have been added to the heel and forefoot for improved durability. You'll feel every step brings you closer to the finish in the HOKA Rocket X, with maximum grip, optimal cushioning and a lightweight design.

I run in Hokas almost exclusively, except for road marathons. In the last few years, I've always run in Vaporflys, so I was really excited to try these Rocket X. Everyone has been raving about these, and they aren't wrong. The shoes feel comfortable and provide the bounce at pushoff that helps on race day. So what's the issue? The heel cup. In an effort to keep this as lightweight as possible, they offer no stability in the heel cup. It's essentially just fabric around the back of your heels. It makes the shoes very hard to put on. I could feel them rubbing right away, and I was worried that they would cause hot spots (and potentially blisters) on my heels. Moving up a size wasn't the solution for me (the size fit great) -- the issue is in how the heel is ... MoreI run in Hokas almost exclusively, except for road marathons. It needs to have its own structural integrity and not pull into the back of your heel when you push off.Very sadly, I had to return my pair. I'll bide my time and wait until they update the model (and hopefully fix the heel).

Once you get it on (needs a pull tab on heel), this is the most comfortable super shoe I've tried. The upper fit is immaculate and there's no weird arch (alphafly) or bulbous forefoot (metaspeed sky+), or ill-fitting ankle (adidas pro 3). The cushion and geometry works beautifully to give you a rolling but fun and bouncy ride with excellent response and stability. Shines at marathon pace and faster but is also excellent for uptempo long runs. My first two runs were 11mi and 15mi, no problem; no break-in needed. Wider footed people may struggle as the forefoot is snug, though the upper has some give and did not cause blisters at all. This is THE racer for runners who want to feel fast without the mechanical or unstable feel of many other similar shoes. One con: the outsole durability is questionable so I'd love to see a trainer version of this at a lower price for regular use age.

The Rocket X2 is unlike any shoe I've ever worn. It has a sweet spot on the forefoot that produces great energy return and the foam is just firm enough to be bouncy and make you run taller. I use these exclusively on the track for long sprint speed work. I need extra protection so I bought these at the same time as the Nike Vaporfly3. I sent the the Nikes back and kept these. Not since the Clifton 1 has Hoka released such a revolutionary shoe. The Rincon 3 has taken up the torch for the tradition the Clifton 1 began for lower priced trainers. (Sadly, the Clifton line is really nothing more than a casual shoe now, too heavy to compete with the Rincon). If you're trying to decide between the Hoka Rocket X2 and the Nike Vaporfly, go with the Rocket X2s. Despite being ... MoreThe Rocket X2 is unlike any shoe I've ever worn. (The Adidas Takumi Sen 9 are also cheaper, more responsive, and better than the Vaporflys and weigh about the same. I use those for short speed work on the track).

When I first took my Rocket X 2 out for a training run I felt like I was on pogo sticks. The bounce in this shoe is none I had ever experienced in a running shoe before. I felt like I could run forever. I definitely run faster than in any other shoe because it just propels you. I have been wearing Hokas for 8 years (Bondis and Cliftons) since they were recommended by my podiatrist after a toe issue I had and I haven't worn any other brand since. As a seasoned marathoner I normally run in the Bondi but thought I would give the Rocket a try for my (full) marathon I ran earlier this year. I wasn't sure how I would hold up but after doing my long 18 and 20 milers pre race I was amazed and knew I could pull it off. After running 20+ marathons over the years I have to say I recovered the fastest with this shoe. I was not as sore and had no aches or pains after the race. I had my doubts initially, not sure I could do a full marathon in this shoe but I was blown away! I highly recommend you give it a try. I will definitely purchase for my next big race!
I've owned many shoes before. From Adidas Boston 12s to Alphaflys next %, Saucony endorphin speed 2, and vapor fly 2s. These are definitely a competitor as the best racing/speed shoes I've had. It's not as propulsive as the first Alphaflys, but they definitely give you that fast turnover and energy return; to be completely honest, there's not a huge difference between the two. Additionally, these definitely help keep me linear and from pronating.Lastly, I've tried on multiple different running shoes and tested them out as well and it was hard to tell the difference between the following and the Rocket X2 (Adidas Pro 3, Saucony Elite 3, vaporfly 3).Also--My piece of advice to all the people out there: do not trust the running influencers out there. This shoe should have been renamed, as the OG Rocket X was a completely different shoe that I did not get along with. The OG rocket was a lower stack, firmer EVA midsole. This is a higher stack PEBA based midsole with tons of bounce and a nice step-in squish. On the run the rebound is great. I never felt like I was digging out of the midsole, which is sometimes the case as a larger runner. My first run in these I took them for a 10-mile interval workout. The easy paces were bouncy and fun and I didn't notice any instability at easy paces. I'm a midfoot striker but I usually like to heel strike for a bit in a new shoe to see how it feels, as I do start to heel strike at the end of longer runs, and the instability went up just a tiny bit, but not a deal breaker. Now the kilometer intervals at threshold pace is where I was really impressed. This shoe really disappears on your foot when running at faster paces and the plate isn't as aggressive as (for example) the Alphafly 1, which can be problematic for some runners. I'm a big fan of this shoe, and based on how more testing goes it might knock my aging Alphaflys out of the top racer spot for the rest of this year.
I bought this shoe and received it 2.5 business days later. The shoe has a ton of initial grip. I actually enjoyed the lack of a heel. It made the shoe easier to put on. I liken the shoes to track spikes. If you haven't worn tight-fitting track spikes, you're likely not going to fully respect the shoe. That said, clip your toenails because it is a tight fit and I have normal feet.My workout:I ran 9 miles and wanted to keep them slow; however, this shoe forced me to run roughly 15-25 seconds faster per mile. I was shocked at how low my heart rate and effort levels were compared to previous. In addition, my legs were a little shell-shocked due to the speed change. I got these amazing green/yellow shoes that match my personality in every way. The spring they give you in your step, the comfort you have rolling every step is really amazing. The laces stayed tied!! Never come apart!! They are breathable and my feet never feel clammy at the end of the day. I really love these shoes...except my pinkie toes feel super cramped and it causes pain on both sides of my feet along the lateral aspects. I've never been told I had wide feet in 40 years and never had to purchase wide shoes ever. Maybe it's the specific type of shoe I purchased from Hoka....I love them and I'd never say not to give them a try. I use these exclusively on the track as a sprint trainer. The sweet spot in the forefoot gives a serious amount of bounce, most responsive and protective shoe I've ever used. Was a big fan of Clifton1, then Rincon 3, but these Rocket X2s surpass all others. Wish Hoka would made a shoe like this with a smaller heel foam block for sprint trainers, and save a few grams in weight. At least it's not as big a heel block as the Cielo X1, the Rocket X2s look like a normal shoe, but really feel like a SUPER shoe. The upper lockdown is very much like my Adidas racing spikes. I can see why the casual runner / heel striker might not like these. You really need to be running fast or sprinting off the fore foot to feel this shoe's full advantage. Well done HOKA! When Hoka first began selling shoes in the US, its shoes were too narrow for many runners. Then Hoka began offering wide versions of some of its models. I train in Bondi and race in Cliftons (heavy for racing, but great fit and awesome cushioning). Now comes the Rocket X 2, a dedicated "super" shoe for racing. The problem is the unisex sizing. Men and women's shoes are shaped differently. The unisex shoe's fit/design make them appropriate for men with narrow feet or women with regular to wide feet. If Hoka offered this shoe in a men and women version it would be a huge success (if Hoke made a men's version in wide, it would become one of its biggest sellers). As they are, they fit like a women's shoe sized up.
