These shoes are great. They feel very spongy under foot. I was advised to get Hoka by a sports consultant, particularly with the carbon plate as I have arthritis. However, I had to use orthotic insoles for my knees as prior to this I felt my knees becoming sore. I am delighted with my purchase as they have enabled me to go back walking. They are expensive, but for me they were worth it

I have worn Clifton's for 3 years. I heard these are a bit better for tailor's bunions. I have plantar fascia issues even with newish podiatrist's custom orthotics. Instead of being in agony today due to being on my feet a lot the last few weeks, I had barely a moment of foot pain. I found I needed to loosen laces when sitting- maybe a runner's shoe thing- but I am so happy with these I could cry with joy. I am not a runner, just an ex-dancer with 50something feet. Would give more stars if I could. Can't wait to get another pair. Thank you Hoka

Best ever

I’ve been a runner for a long long time and I’m not getting any younger. Running in your 60’s can be a challenge - these shoes make me feel young again. A soft and plush ride but not squishy or unstable. The extra boost from the carbon plate is clearly felt and I’m not a fast runner anymore. I’ve tried every brand there is and many models and I can honestly say that these are the BEST ever. I plan to be able to run for many more years thanks to these Hokas. They may be pricey but aren’t you worth it?

Great looking shoe
12 August 2024

About year back I have been diagnosed with diabetes. I have changed my diet and trying to going walking at least 3 miles in the morning and 1 miles in the evening. It has been difficult because in the beginning my feet would hurt and my hips and back, just fromt he pressure of walking. Then the days I didn't want to go walking feeling exhausted after a long day of working. I am going to say this, I bought these shoes for the look OMG these look amazing on, but let me tell you, I stand 7-8 hrs on my feet at work, I going walking every morning in these, no more pain, to be honest, it makes me want when I am walking these shoes make me wanna run, it feels like I am on a cloud flying. I am little on the wide side, I am 7.5 but I always get size 8 fit beautifully. These Hoka do fit tight even on the 8, Need more

Love my Skywards. Really comfortable and really fast, never worn Hoka before but was recommended I try something with a larger foam height and they were right.

Painful and heavy!
22 August 2024

As someone who only runs in Hokas, I was very excited to try the Skyward X’s. Unfortunately, they’re the worst shoe I have ever ran in. Not only are they absurdly heavy (think running with ankle weights on), but the shape of the toebox is different. I’m unsure whether it’s the weight of the shoe or the shape, but I’ve ran in these twice and the first time I had bad toe pain (never experienced this before) and the second time I ended up with a purple toenail. The cushioning is very plush which feels nice, but that’s the only positive thing I can say. For the price point, these are a very regretful purchase and I won’t be wearing them again. I’ll stick to the Bondi’s for my long runs.

Review of Hoka Skyward X - Womens Running Shoes

I LOVE these runners. They are my 5th pair of Hokas and my absolute favourite. Worth the splurge - especially if you value super plushy high stack running. Currently saving up for another pair to keep non-muddy!

These are not it.

Cartoonishly large & make ur feet look out of proportion w/ the rest of your body. They pitch u forward in such a way u have to arch ur lower back to stand up straight. LOTS of heel slip. Instant shin splints & lower back pain. It's a no.

Too Narrow
26 June 2024

I want to love these shoes but too many concerns. The toe box is too narrow. Hoka doesn't have a Wide option either. Hoka only has 2 color options which REI currently sells only 1 of them. The other option is a sunshine yellow. Blah. The eyelets design change is real nice, but the shoelace length is short so hard to tie if you use the eyestay hole. The foxing is a bit higher than the Bondi 6 - 8 or original X. If my no-show socks were to go down at all during a run, the foxing would rub against my Achilles. I've actually read other reviewers express that concern. Now I really understand what they meant. If you got narrow feet & don't plan to wear no-show socks yet like the color option then this may be a fantastic shoe for you. Otherwise....wait for Bondi 9s to ... MoreI want to love these shoes but too many concerns. The toe box is too narrow. Hoka doesn't have a Wide option either.
