A great shoe for some people...

Both Shoes Blew Out....and I'm a Speedgoat Lover

I love Speedgoats and have been trail running in them exclusively for many years. I am a high mileage Beast-Coast trail runner. During a long run this weekend, BOTH shoes blew out on the inside AND outside of each shoe where the base meets the upper (That's right, 4 total blowouts on the same run!!!). Strava verified 246.6 miles on these shoes at the end of this run. I have 7 pairs of Speedgoats saved in my Strava profile, and NONE have less than 424 miles before retiring, with NO significant blowouts on any previous models. There is a CLEAR deficiency between SG5 and SG4 as there used to be an additional protective layer in the exact area where these blew out on SG4 which was eliminated on SG5. I cannot recommend these shoes for the value given the lifespan being ... MoreI love Speedgoats and have been trail running in them exclusively for many years. Good, not great.

Construction and quality of the Speedgoat 5 has gone backwards. On my 2nd run with these shoes, I pulled the tip of the tongue of the right shoe off. This has compromised the comfort of the shoe and laces across the bridge of my foot. This design harks back to older variants of the Clifton. The tongue of the SG5's are too thin for a shoe designed for ultra running. The grip is good as is the thicker sole that resists sharp rocks and objects aggravating my foot.An average shoe. I would not buy this model again with this tongue design.

Great, comfortable shoes. Would buy again.

I love these. I have a lot of foot problems and these feel really good on my feet. They are great for high arches and plantar fasciitis. I use them for walking on trails because I'm not a runner and I am really happy with them so far. Highly recommend. Bought an 8 which is my normal size. Nice, wide toe box.

HOKA being HOKA: Quality Shoe
29 May 2022

These shoes are great and as I have come to expect from HOKA they are high quality. I’ve noticed that I have to really concentrate on tying them loose. Something about this shoe specifically that makes the naturals swelling that feet do during the run very uncomfortable if the initial tie is not loose. They grip the trail and mute out the sharp rocks that I’ve feet stab my feet in lesser shoes.I have read and watched other reviews that suggest not wearing no show socks with these shoes and I completely agree they will rub if you do so stick with the ankle socks.

Hoka Speedgoat 5 size 9.5
8 February 2023

These shoes fit true to size. As an avid trail runner I have tried many different trail shoes and nothing compares to this. Enough cushion and stability to feel the trail and feel great for many miles. On my second pair and definitely not the last. Add to cart!

Needs upper improvement
13 October 2022

Great shoe but sadly the upper stretching is out of control. Did a very fry technical alpine race and regretted picking this shoe. It’s like swimming around inside the shoe. Won’t use them for races. Only good for easy training.

New model not improved..
2 May 2023

The sizing is bigger than in previous Speedgoat models. Also your foot sits higher inside the shoe with this model, making stability feel inadequate. The heel sits quite high compared to the collar of the shoe. Feels a little bit like running on a high platform.

Outstanding!
10 August 2022

Bought for husband. He states they are the most comfortable runners he has had. Noting he has had thousands!!! So comfortable and supportive that he has not been wearing his orthotic innersoles in them. He has not worn shoes without them for approximately 15 years. We will definitely be buying these again. Normally buy top of the range anyway but there has always been a compromise. Absolutely no compromise with these. Many thanks they have made a massive difference!

The Goats are awesome!
16 January 2023

These shoe's are awesome! I have been training on trails with them since the day I received them. I just ran the Ouachita Switchbacks 50K/25K trail race which is very technical and has tons of rocks and water crossings, the shoes performed very well for me, I would definitely recommend these shoes for anyone out there looking for a good trail shoe, I most definitely would buy them again!
