Been waiting for the 6's as I had durability challenges with the 5's. The fit is good. Toe box sufficient. My initial feeling was that the shoe was a bit stiffer under foot, but no challenges to normal running. Lacing and fit is good, and drainage through stream also good. I am a bit supporter of these shoes and so far so good. Only time will tell on the durability, so fingers crossed.

Lightweight trail running sneaker. Initially a little tight from previous models that requires breaking in. The tread is very durable and has great grip. The toe box is a bit narrow from previous models and feels like a lower profile in the mid section which is great for trail running but not much mid foot cushion. Overall a good model but I still prefer the goretex Speedgoat 4 which felt a bit more stable and waterproof. These are lightweight and great for fair weather trail conditions but will get soaked and uncomfortable in light rain or wet conditions.

After owning 6 pairs of the Speedgoat 4 which was the perfect shoe, I begrudgingly owned 10 pairs of the 5's. I run on the Western States Trail almost daily, and the toe box on the 5 was always too narrow, but I conditioned to it. The seams on the upper always busted 300 miles in, but I continued to buy them, but my loyalty stops here. The upper has been fixed it seems to keep the seams from busting, but the cushion has been cut, and the toe box has dropped lower and is more narrow. My big toe rubs on the nail bed, and it becomes painful. I have tried running in thinner socks which just resulted in blisters to alternate toes despite being bathed in aquaphor. With a 100 coming up in a couple of months, I don't have time for this type of experimentation. I love the Speedgoat. Specifically I love the Speedgoat 5, and, after a bit of wearing in, the Speedgoat 4. The six is likely going to be great for some folks, but for heavier, older, wider footed folks (who run far further then they should) like myself it will be a bit disappointing. It’s firmer underfoot, narrower in the forefoot (I went 2e) but it does look the business. The grip is great too. So if you're looking for a fit and ride like the previous iterations you may be disappointed. For the right person they’ll be brillian. Just not me.
In my opinion the fit and comfort of the SG6 was a huge improvement. The SG5 did not work for me. However, the sole of this shoe has worn out in just 2 months. I have a pair of SG3s I wore for the last two summers that are still perfectly intact however they are too small for me now. I was very pleased with the improvements, the shoe just didn’t hold up. I also still wish they would put a real tongue back on the shoe like the SG3. Running down steep NE mountains with laces digging into your foot isn’t very fun.
I ran through 3 pairs of the SP5 over 1000mi of technical NorthEast trails. Like most, I loved the stability and comfort. Got the SP6 three weeks before an Ultra. First couple 10milers at home on rocks and roots: really enjoyed the extra stiffness of the sole which reminds me of the Tecton 2. Does a better job than the 5 to keep your feet from being hammered on rocks while still keeping the same overall comfort. Then out on rainy day over 60k/8000ft of technical mountain trails in British Columbia. Shoes were great. No foot fatigue, no blisters, perfectly stability. Overall, SP6 is better than SP5. Lighter, more responsive, more underfoot protection, same comfort and stability as the 5.
I'm Korean. Asian with wide feet. So I definitely wear Asics for my road running shoes. But I bought the newly released SpeedGoat 6 after hearing that the Hoka SpeedGoat was good. I bought it because there was a wide version, but it feels a little bit narrow on the feet. But after 30-40 minutes of running, the feeling of tightness goes away and my feet feel relaxed. However, this situation happens every time I run the trail, so it's a little uncomfortable for me. The grip of the shoes is at its best. The breathability of the shoes is excellent, too. If you're not someone with feet like me, these are probably the best trail running shoes.

I had heard a lot of good things about the Speedgoats, so I decided to try the 6. One plus was that after the first use they loosened right up and fit well. Plenty of room in the toe box but still snug around the rest of the foot. The problem I had with them was, after 15 miles of use, my feet were in such pain I was having a difficulty walking - no exaggeration. They were comfortable, but the balls of my feet were sore for days after use, and I had sharp pains running from my instep/arch to my ankle. I haven't worn them since. I really wanted the Speedgoat 6's to work, but . . .
My wife bought me these shoes recently. It is garbage, possibly worse than the 5. How can Hoka’s decision makers be do dumb as to remove 90% of the cushion from these and the Stinson’s. It’s freaking amazing? Hoka used to have the most cushioned trail shoes. Now Altra and Topo are far superior. It’s hard to believe a company could be do brain dead. Surely they realize the 5 and 6 are stupidly different than the 4’s and previous models. All Hoka shoes have also become too narrow, especially in the toe box. Wake the blerp up!
