I bought these for elk/mushroom hunting with hopes they would help my plantar fasciitis. for the first 40+miles of my hunting trip they shredded the skin off my ankles and I was ready to send them back but since I had started wearing them I hadn't had any troubles from my plantar fascia so I was willing to sacrifice the skin off my ankles to keep hiking with no plantar fasciitis pain. (iykyk) I still don't know if I finally grew calluses where my ankles were once raw and blistered, or if it was the fifth different style of sock, I tried with these, but now (65 miles later) I love them. They are supportive light weight and the tread is great! Im still unsure if they were worth the price though seeing as I somehow managed to step on a stick that went almost all the ... MoreI bought these for elk/mushroom hunting with hopes they would help my plantar fasciitis. for the first 40+miles of my hunting trip they shredded the skin off my ankles and I was ready to send them back but since I had started wearing them I hadn't had any troubles from my plantar fascia so I was willing to sacrifice the skin off my ankles to keep hiking with no plantar fasciitis pain. I still haven't confirmed if it went all the way through but it wash almost an inch long when I managed to pull it out and I almost returned them because of that but after 65miles of breaking them in/finding the right socks I didn't want the hassle. These shoes have a weird chokehold on me. I love them but they've also kind of put me through the wringer to get there...

If you have wide feet like I do, I typically wear 10.5 wide or extra wide depending upon the brand, you can size a half size up and these should fit. Slightly roomy fit that matches well with thicker socks or improves breathability with thin socks without compromising fitment or a secure lockdown in the lacing system. No slippage and I feel comfortable with these boots in technical terrain. My favorite boot for heavy use. They are excellent quality.

I purchased these because I have weak ankles that are prone to rolling. They definitely provide the extra support I need!No way my ankles will roll in these boots. As for size, I have a wide short foot and was not sure if these were going fit because they don't come in wide. Started out with 6.5/7.5 without using the size guide as my other women's hiking boots were 7.5 regular width. Had to send them back as they were way to big in length. Decided to try using both options of the sizing guide. (should have done it the first time) Comparing my regular wide women size 6 to 6.5 with the different brands I wear it put me at 4/5 for this boot. Then I tried the other option of measuring my foot on paper and it put me at 5.5/6.5 which is what I eventually went with. ... MoreI purchased these because I have weak ankles that are prone to rolling. Though they felt a little snug at first, after three days of wearing around the house they loosend up nicely. Would definitely recommend using the paper measuring guide for wider feet as it provides a truer guide vs comparing the other brands guide.I must say the original insert that comes with this boot is on the thin side but after adding my very cushy half orthodics I now feel like I'm 'bouncing' on air. Love this boot!

These Tors are the perfect blend of cushion and support. They provide good relief from rocky terrain while providing a stable foot plant and good ankle support. They are good on those trails that go lateral across a slope as my foot stays square on the footbed. The Tors give plenty of room in width and volume so my toes and instep don't get cramped. I use a power pro step insole which fits fine in the boot. This is my sixth pair of either Kaha boots or Tor Ultras. The Tors are higher and I like the ankle support I get on tough trails. I am a longer mileage hiker not a trail runner and these are a perfect fit me.
Purchased first from hoka.com on drop day only to have FedEx "lose" the package. As popular as the Tors are (and sell higher in resale) I am 100% convinced they were stolen. FedEx tells me the label was "damaged" and could no longer be scanned. Sure sure. Thankfully Hoka refunded me regardless for the undelivered package and I was able to purchase these from Kith instead.Boots themselves are incredible + comfortable from the start. This colorway is a beautiful subtle mix of greens with the leather portion sometimes reading brown in different light. Went up half a size to stay comfy with thicker socks and that ended up being a good choice.Suggestion for Hoka: consider using unassuming clear tape rather than the white "Deckers Brands" tape to make the boxes a ... MorePurchased first from hoka.com on drop day only to have FedEx "lose" the package. I purchased these as a backpacking/hiking boot. Many reviewers were very positive and commented how wonderful these were. I wasn't blown away as they seemed to be. I have been wearing Sky Kahas for a few years and thought these might be better but found them to be very similar in how they felt with regards to plushness and support. Similar enough where I wouldn't wear one over the other. I havent backpacked in them yet and still feel like I am breaking them in but first impressions are meh..... I normally wear a size 9-9.5 in athletic shoes and got these in a 9.5 and they fit well. The fit is roomy as the KAHAs are but that allows for a good hiking sock. I do like the higher ankle support than the KAHAs but have not tried them with my 40lb pack on tricky terrain yet ... MoreI purchased these as a backpacking/hiking boot. Overall a cute, nice supportive boot but not much plusher or supportive than the KAHAs.
First of all, I like how these are actual hiking boots! They're comfortable but not "squishy" or "bouncy." I tested them out on a 5-mile, rocky trail in the mountains and they performed wonderfully! They feel durable, light, and I didn't experience any sore spots on my feet. I would say that they run a tad large. I actually returned two pairs for a different size but Hoka customer support shipped them quickly!
I started buying Tor Ultra Hi hiking boots when they first came out. Then I switched to Kahas when I no longer could get the Ultra Hi boot. This year, I found Ulra Hi boots again so bought a pair. Now that I've been wearing the Kaha boot, I like the Kaha better in terms of width for the foot. The Ultra Hi is very narrow, much narrower than the Kaha so now I'm trying to find the right sock for hiking this year that will fit. I like the higher ankle support and the soles are pretty similar. In general, I love Hokas and wear them for everything - work, hiking, walking. Would wear Hoka ski boots if you made them! However, since I first started buying them years ago, the soles did not hold up relative to shoes in the same upper price ranges. And they still do not. Thank goodness I have the income to afford a new pair of Hokas for hiking every year as they are worn down to no treads by the end of the hiking season, something boots that cost $170 to $250 from other brands don't do. The fabric does hold up and is very comfortable.
I am recovering from foot surgery (two broken outermost metatarsals) and started out with the Gaviota which are heavenly. In order to have a little variety and ankle support, I bought the Tor ultra Hi. I wanted to stick with a plush shoe, and since they don't have a stable high top, I opted for moderate. They are wonderful on my feet. They didn't require any break-in time. I would highly recommend. I'm not hiking with them but I have definitely walked long distances in the city and I feel no aches or pains. They are a little roomy in width but t that's expected with a hiking boots, it leaves space for a thick sock and for foot expansion after a vigorous hike. Plus I have super duper narrow foot, but it still fit well and my foot wasn't swishing around in the Tor.
I'm a huge fan of Hoka and own 5 pair of the previous gender specific Tor Ultras for women. I do not care for the wider gender neutral tor ultra hi. They are also stiffer at the top of the ankle boot and I prefer a more tailored boot that I can choose narrow and neutral. NOT this in between gender neutral stuff so Hoka can save money. A "C" width and saying they can be neutral or stable ?? I'm not sure if I can trust these on a long thru hike. They are also heavier than my previous female specific Tor Ultra. I waited so long to snag a pair of these and disappointed that they changed a shoe they could not keep on the shelves. Fixed a boot that wasn't broken. There's a lot of slippage now and they are more loose. I can't find out because no sooner than you order these (if you can catch them) they no longer have anymore that you can exchange and try out.
