Best tread on a hiking boot ever!

I bought the Anacapa Breeze Mid for the aggressive tread (it's fabulous), and that they are NOT water proof. They are much cooler than a waterproof boot. Thank you Hoka for offering these two features. The only downfall of the boot is the "rear tongue" seams rub on my ankle bones. I have to lace them loosely because of it and then my foot slides forward and my toes rub. A fully padded collar all the way around the shoe would be better. I took a12 mile steep, rocky hike yesterday, no blisters, only soreness at the end of the toes. Most importantly, no slipping! Great tread! The cushioning in the soles kept me from a fatigued lower back, legs, and feet.

Cute but ruined within 1 use!

I really wanted to love these because they are quite stylish! I had planned to wear them on a backpacking trip this summer, but it seems to not work out for me. I tried them out for the first time on a walk around the neighborhood to a local trail. The trail was paved rather nicely with little to no rocks. I was surprised when I got back home and saw that the scratches on the side of the shoe because the vibram was not durable enough. Given I "babied" these to make sure they don't get dirty the first time around, and it still didn't hold up, I am not impressed at all. These definitely wouldn't last on a hiking day trip, and most definitely wouldn't be durable enough for a backpacking trip with rough terrains. I am an avid day hiker, 10-13 miles at a time up and down mountains with LOTS of rocks! I didn't know that there was such a great difference between hiking boots. I thought my LLBeans were great, they were light, flexible and comfortable. Then I got these.....WOW!! What an amazing difference!! They are light, flexible and comfortable too but they are also so well designed to support your feet & ankles and there is so much cushion to the soles that it protects your feet from feeling the rocks!! The wide sole at the heal is fantastic for stability and balance. They almost have a "spring" affect to them that makes me feel like I AM flying over all the rocks! Thinking of getting a second pair so I don't wear these out too quickly.

I gave it a shot

I really wanted to like this Hoka. The styling is cute and refreshing and I was looking for a new Plush Hoka so I tried it. My usual fit for my other six Hoka pairs are either women's 8 wide or 8.5 regular. I only get 8.5 regulars when the Hoka model I want doesn't offer a wide version. Since this Anapaca Breeze wasn't offered in a wide (please Hoka, make hiking boots in wides for women), I bought the 8.5. What I received was much longer and narrower than my other 8.5 Hoka's. It has a huge amount of toe room length and is narrow on the outside part of the shoe. I wore them for two days (8 hours each day) over the course of a week. I really wanted them to work but concluded that they were not going to "give in" and be any more comfortable. Since Hoka's website's ... MoreI really wanted to like this Hoka. Since Hoka's website's description stated that this shoe was a Plush, I was looking forward to that type of Plushness that comes from the Bondi. This Anapaca Breeze is "cushy" when you walk on it but doesn't offer the solidness and magic carpet comfort of a Bondi plush. I'll be returning the boxed shoes to the post office tomorrow. It's nice that Hoka pays for return postage. Thanks for letting me try it out, Hoka. I hope more Hoka's will offer more models and colors in women's wides, especially for hiking.

Love these boots!
20 September 2024

Even though they are a hiking type boot, I use them primarily for walking. I like the ankle support. Hoka came highly recommended by my podiatrist. I was disappointed when just a few days after purchasing them straight from the HOKA sight, they sent me an ad for the same boot for $40.00 less. Am waiting to hear if they have an adjustment policy so that I may get the difference back.

Love these so much
1 July 2024

I bought these for a trip to Utah, and for my first time hiking ever. I love them so!! much!! They are super lightweight, grippy, no blisters, and they don't make my feet hot, even after hours long hikes. I am in general a size 7 and the 7's fit me perfect, although if you are a thicker sock wearer I would maybe size up a little. I have narrow feet and so cannot comment on the width, they fit wonderfully.

Please Make This Color a Permanent Choice!
18 April 2024

I loved these boots so much, I ordered a second pair! I was afraid you'd discontinue the color. I purchased these for summer hiking, since they have the breathable mesh. I also work a part time job that requires boots and we walk on a lot of asphalt and concrete, so I ordered a second pair!!! They have excellent lugs for good grip and keep my feet cool and comfy!!!

So close!

A breathable hiking boot is exactly what I've been waiting for from HOKA. This one looks and feels great. It has everything I want in a boot...great cushion, breathability, grippy sole, and durable upper. I have two complaints: 1. They need to offer a wide version. This boot feels narrow in the toe box/forefoot. 2. The threading/seam that runs across the the forefoot from the tongue/laces to the midsole across big toe joint was bothersome on one boot. Otherwise, these have so much potential. The size is very true. I returned mine simply because I I'd be better off with a wide version if they made it. The boot was quite comfortable around the house, but I had my doubts about hiking 10 miles in them without a little more width in the toe box. Wish I’d listened to the reviews
9 April 2024

These performed very poorly for hiking. The right shoe is different than the left, I can’t quite pinpoint what it is internally, but there is less support from the right shoe. About 10 minutes into the trail my right ankle was extremely sore. I literally turned back after 15 minutes into a 4 mile hike. The right shoe feels slightly larger than the left, which I’ve never had an issue with, other reviews complain about the difference as well.

the front of the foot has no support
19 September 2024

I had high expectation about this hiking boots since my foot hurts and i need a good pair. The width and high are really nice. But the front bottom of the foot does not feel support. I was very disappointed since it is a very expensive pair of hiking boots. But I am leaving to my trip so I will keep it and put insoles in it. It feels like my foot is right on the ground, not in a shoe.
