I initially purchased three of these units.The first unit failure occurred after less than 1 year when the retracting spring broke. Bunnings happily replaced it for me without fuss.The second unit failed yesterday, 6 months out of warranty, when the upper screwed-together joint failed and gravity took over. I recovered the hose and sent the rest of the unit to the council tip during today’s garbage pick-up.Both remaining units are exhibiting signs of failure, with hard to extract, and slow to retract, hose action. The housings are also showing signs of stress, with the top joints having gaps where most of the weight is being supported.I won’t be buying this brand again, but then again, how reliable would other brands be? This reel fails to rewind completely leaving 4 to 5 metres of hose out of the reel. Homan advised that it seems that the spring is broken, and it (the spring) is not repairable. Also, the hose has always leaked due to the stress of the hose causing the quick-connect fitting at the base of the reel to be slightly askew. After 2 years of little use, I am expected to throw it out and buy a new reel.

Because this cover had to be shipped from Australia to New Zealand, I was nervous so decided to order the cover for a 30metre hose reel even though I only had a 20metre reel. I am so glad we did as the cover is rather a tight fit. Unless the 20 and 30metre cabinets are the same size a 20metre cover would never fit our cabinet. Would have given a higher review if I knew if both cabinets were the same size, but if they are it doesn't change it is a tight fit on the cabinet. but is now protecting our cabinet which faces directly north which is great

Adding to the list of people who encountered the issue of hose not fully retracting, mine started after about roughly 2 years of 2-3 times a week usagey. Stopped fully retracting the last 2-3m. Few months later and it was 5m or so. Few weeks later it wouldnt retract at all.Get a different brand that has some sort of cover or repairability, as 2 years appears to be the average life span of this hose reel compared with others that have 5 year warranties for an extra 30-50% initial cost
Sad to say the recent version of this product is a blight on Holeman. 2 years in and the hose inner tubing collapsed rendering the hose unusable. Replace it I hear you say ! Unfortunately no and here in lies the issue with this version produced by Holeman. The internal hose connection fittings are now crimped and cannot be removed to enable replacement of the hose on the reel. Only option.....chuck the whole thing into landfill, Shame Indeed that this commercial attitude prevails in this day and age. Shame.
I bought this 30m hose reel on special at Bunnings 9 months ago. Unfortunately no receipt or box for it anymore.Right away after mounting the reel onto its bracket, the casing split at the top, as the reel is too heavy and the design of the upper screw keeping the 2 shell halves together is designed much too weak. Sticker faded and peeled off within 2 weeks. The unit is very faded, almost white. Logos have faded. The sprayer nozzle is poor quality and broke after 3 months. And now the spring to retract the hose has failed, so the hose cannot be retracted anymore. This is after very little use. I'll need to buy something else and definitely will not buy this product again. Recommend to not waste your money on this! These covers do exactly what they are meant to do. Easy to fit. No more UV issues that will destroy the casing. If you call Bunnings they will deny that the covers are even available. If it wasn’t for bumping in to a Holman Rep at Bunnings One day recently I would never had known they were available. Thank you Holman. We have 5 Holman 30m retractable hose reels on each corner of our home and now that I know I can purchase covers I will buy more reels and place them at each end of the orchard. Good rep, naughty Bunnings.

I bought this hose reel 4 months ago and took very good care of it. Always ensured to never over extend it and also to carefully rewind it by keeping tension on the hose while rewinding.While pulling the hose (unwinding) I suddenly heard a "whirring" sound and I immediately new that the internal rewind spring snapped. I opened the unit and this was confirmed. After opening it up, I realised how flimsy the internal construction of this unit is. I did not take it back for replacement because I am not interested in getting this replaced with the same substandard product.
Just installed the Holman 30m retractable hose reel, what a piece of crap. Retracting the hose the whole unit bounces and violently wobbles about, obviously cheap plastic inner reel is out of balance. A look inside and inner reel is buckled and cheap light plastic. I would take back to Bunnings for another brand, but I now have 4 massive holes in my brickwork which was used the secure this piece of crap. Bunnings should cease to sell this rubbish. All Holman gardening products are rubbish.
