Good wood

We recently purchased this fire wood during the height of the coldest winter INNISFAIL has seen in at least a year. With temps plummeting to as low as 6.5 degrees for about 2 hours one morning. We used this fire wood to warm our souls and our feet while sitting around the fire pit with good friends. The wood lights efficiently with the help of fire lighters but once it’s converting heat energy into carbon molecules it continues to burn efficiently. I feel that without this fire wood we may not have been able to have our fire pit nights and possibly even suffered server frost bite in such extreme conditions.Thank you.

Great but expensive for what it is.

It is what it is, it's wood. Its dry, it burns, and it's a good size as kindling. But expensive considering how much it would cost to just chop some wood up.But if you can't find any, can't be bothered chopping or haven't the time before you leave for camp, great little product that serves its purpose.

Not happy with them changing their kindling and it wet

Not happy we live near Campbelltown and couldn't get it so mum drove to villawood. The kidding has changed from looking like pine for example to wet hard wood. $160 for 10 wet bags of hard wood!!! I could have chopped hard wood from my dry wood. I normally brag about this kindling. It sweets in the bad it's that bad

Saturated Firewood

Terrible product. Complete waste of money.Got the bag home and it is absolutely saturated.Impossible to light. What’s the point of selling firewood that won’t light

Stay far away from this wet kindling!

This kindling does not light up. It is wet. The bag I bought had condensation on the plastic wrapping (I didn't notice in-store). It nearly ruined our camping trip. Luckily we could buy some from a local seller. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT

The wood is so often wet! And doesn't burn.
10 January 2023

I'd like to say that this is a good product but I can't really because it has been wet the last three or four times I've gone and bought it. Not good if you expect to entertain guests on the same day if purchase - at all! I have a pizza oven and I know how to start a fire. This stuff wouldn't burn well at all. I don't know if it's the type of wood or if it was wet but it was at least wet in the bag and should be stored undercover all the time preferably indoors and away from any humidity/moisture. We had to move from our pizza oven to indoors (to a conventional kitchen oven electric). This affected the vibe of the gathering as I had planned an outdoor event. Disappointed that the last number of times the wood has been wet and these incidents have been spread out ... MoreI'd like to say that this is a good product but I can't really because it has been wet the last three or four times I've gone and bought it. Disappointed that the last number of times the wood has been wet and these incidents have been spread out over probably the last 6 months. I think I'm going to have to buy kindling wood somewhere else from now on unfortunately. Bunnings is my usual go-to for so many things and I'd like to keep it that way, but I think the wood will have to come from somewhere else. My pizza oven came from Bunnings and has been acceptable.

Waste of money
27 August 2023

Wood so unseasoned it gets condensation inside the bag, even in store. As you buy it by the 10kg bag, probably better for the manufacturer to sell green wet wood. I have to dry it for a month before it can be used.In short, Hotshots Kindling is the worst kindling I've ever used. Fire brigade should use this stuff to put out bushfires.

Wet and refuses to burn.
24 August 2023

I have purchased this product from Bunnings for years but the kindling now sold is different (plantation blue gum? instead of the previously sold dressed offcuts) is wet and refuses to burn, Clearly, Bunnings now use a different supplier. I have now given up on this product and am about to return 2 bags for refund.

Wet, wet, wet.
21 July 2023

Just bought 2 bags of this recently at Bunnings Coburg and it's crap. So wet that with almost a pack of firelighters burning I could hear the kindling sizzling like snags on a bbq. When it is handed over to Bunnings it needs to be checked and sent back to the supplier and not sold until they get things sorted. We shouldn't have to pay good money for rubbish. Now I need to go and search for some proper kindling. Not happy Jan.

Works great. Don't need much.
16 March 2022

30cm long pieces of softwood, about 4-5cm in diameter. They light really well and I found that I didn't need very much to get a campfire going, so carrying a whole bag on my road trip was a bit excessive. Only needed about 4 pieces per campfire when stacking firewood like a Jenga tower where the larger hardwood pieces would be placed above. Put some fire starters underneath and the whole thing lights quite easily.
