Hoya 52Mm Circular Polarizer Hd Hardened Glass 8-Layer Multi-Coated Filter

Light rays reflected from any surface can be polarized. Therefore, polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. With CIR-PL filters, you can eliminate unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water and glass. They also allow colors to appear more saturated, clearer, and with greater contrast. This effect is often used to enhance contrast and saturation in blue skies and white clouds. HOYA's polarizing filters do not affect the overall color balance of a shot. The filter features a highly transparent and highly durable UV-absorbing coating that offers 25% higher light transmission than standard polarizing filters. The ultra-thin frame is compatible with wide-angle lenses. The glass is mounted using high-pressure pressing technology.

I put this polarizer on my 50mm 1.8 AF D lens. Works great ! Knocks all reflection, or just a little, depending on your likes. Just turn the lens for more or less effect. The same goes for bluer skys This is a quality filter. I have this exact filter one on my 70-200mm lens . Colors pop and are nice and sharp with this filter. i find it real easy to clean. Thin too. I would purchase again.

When I first started getting into photography, everyone kept telling me that a polarizing filter would greatly benefit me, so I bought a relatively cheap one. You get what you pay for, and I would recommend anyone to spend the extra money and get a good one, like this Tiffen. It is very solidly built with a low profile, and the colors are completely neutral unlike the cheaper one I was using that adds a yellow tinge to the photos. The deep blue skies and clarity in the clouds are astounding! It adds so much depth to the composition. My only complaint with this filter is that it does not mount very easily onto my Nikon lenses. It doesn't look like it has the normal looking screw on mounting as other filters I've seen, but if you turn it enough, it eventually goes and ... MoreWhen I first started getting into photography, everyone kept telling me that a polarizing filter would greatly benefit me, so I bought a relatively cheap one. Rotating the filter itself once it was on was rather stiff and sticky at first, but it seems to move easily now. Probably just needed to be loosened up a bit after its first use.

Very high quality, great bang for buck value. Does what it claims and does it well. Reduces glare and reflections, increases saturation, low-profile with no vignetting unless you are stacking filters

Defective
17 January 2020

I returned this filter because there was no real difference in using it versus shooting without a polarizer. B&H staff were great about the return and agreed that while the specs were really good for this filter, the one I received was defective.

Does its job as a Polarizer but difficult to use.
2 November 2015

Hoya has a good reputation so I decided to give this filter a try. Optically, this filter is well made and I have not had an problems with the test shots I've done so far. But I gave it three stars because of the filter rings. Polarizers have two filter rings to achieve the polarization effect. The inner ring screws on the lens and the outer ring rotates to control the polarization effect. Hoya uses thin aluminum rings and this makes the filter difficult to use. I have a hard time screwing the filter on the lens, a hard time screwing the filter off the lens, and a hard time rotating the outer ring to make adjustments. The rings are too small to get a good grip. I am also concerned, because aluminum filter rings tend to get stuck more often than brass rings and this ... MoreHoya has a good reputation so I decided to give this filter a try. Excellent Product

I cross polarize when photographing art. This Tiffen is my choice for the Canon 50mm macro lens. A spot of nail polish on the ring helps orient the filter.

Fantastic quality optics and b
21 April 2021

I have tried a few different brands of circular polarizers, and I decided to change my kit over to Tiffen HT specifically due to how clear the optics are, they're easy to clean, and the damping on how the filter turns is as smooth as the manual focus on my Zeiss lenses. Those benefits really sold me! Highly recommended!

Just what I wanted and needed.
18 November 2019

I had just purchased a new lens for my Nikon D5600 which required a 52 mm circular polarizing filter. Since I have several other Tiffen filters, I decided to stick with the same brand. I was not wrong in my choice. The filter is well made and does what it was made to do. If Tiffen is not you choice, B&H has a great selection to select from at very reasonable pricing.

Ok but the construction was a bit clunky
16 February 2016

Ok but the construction was a bit clunky. There is a little bit of play between the rotating element and the back glass. B+W polarizer don't have that clunkiness. The nice about the Hoya is the ribbed side and its easier to hold and rotate than B+W.

Having looked at many reviews on the net regarding polarising filters, this one stood out by a mile for the price and quality of it . I found the results on using it quite amazing. If you`re looking for a polarising filter buy this one. You will not be disappointed .
