My lens cap pops off frequently and my camera is not sand or weatherproof in any way. Since I wear it on beach walks, I got this filter for lens protection. It gets dirty every day. I am pleased that the Hoya works with lens solution and cloths that I've used for previous cameras. The liquid evaporates quickly. I can't see that the protection influences the photos in any way.

I am pleased that the Hoya works with lens solution and cloths that I've used for previous cameras. The liquid evaporates quickly. I can't see that the protection influences the photos in any way.
Excellent value, it protects the lens without any distortion. Just add it and forget it.

55mm threads are slightly small. Fits on lens loosely, and other accessories cannot thread on top of this filter because the female thread is also too small.Optically it's great.
As an everyday protection for a lens this is the best I've tried. It has no effect, that I can see, on the quality of image. With other filters I sometimes see a color shift that I don't see with this Protector.
This is all you need to protect your lens. Doesn't attract dust or smug. Easy to clean. I just leave it on the lens and don't have to bother with a lens cap.
It would be a 5 if cost was no object. It helps with dust but no perfectly. It does make the dust easier to clean.
