I recently installed the HP Laser Jet Pro M404n in my home and I have to say I was extremely happy with its size, speed and performance. I often do accounting jobs at home and print lengthy ledgers and spreadsheets, all of these are done so efficiently with this printer. When I took the printer out of the box, I noticed it was so much more compact then my older model HP laser jet printer at work, it`s (15` x 14` x 8`) in size, but don`t let size fool you, performance is just as fast if not faster with this model. With this printer, the cartridges are a bit expensive, (approx 105.00) but they can last for 3,000 sheets, or they offer a high yield cartridge for 10,000 sheets (approx 225.00). This much more printing capability then the ink jet cartridges I used in the past which are also expensive and never seemed to last long. This is the perfect printer for me and my family! The fact that all of my family can share it when plugged into router is a huge plus. I like the ease of use and the quality printing it provides. This is a 5 star printer for my family. I highly recommend this printer.

Printer is compact and light - suitable for light medium office use. Bought 2 best price from Printerland as usual and always had good customer service but both HP404n printers had intermittent seemingly random fault on the network where printer would say printing... and just freeze had to be switched off and on again. After a couple of weeks back and forth with HP testing everything they wanted to test I got them to agree to lett me try something - I got rid of the HP 'web services' drivers and instead used previous printers' HP4200 driver with a fixed IP after which both HP404 printers worked perfectly they also printed instantly instead of a delay after clicking print.
Printers are great when they work.This one is still too new for us to give a full review. So far, we haven't had any issues with it. Bought it at a reasonably good price. We have one similar to it, so I chose this one because it will use the same toner. This printer replaced a larger workhorse of a machine. It has big shoes to fill. Time will tell.
