As other online reviewers, with a million+ subscribers pointed out - I am confirming in my use case - Perfect and unusable at the same time.I ended up returning it because of a defective charging - there are two usb c ports and charging through both of them was at least inconsistent, tried first one at the very beginning during the windows setup - did not charge, plugged into second - it worked. Next time first port worked as well.My remarks:1. instant on, that is what I wanted to experience on a Windows laptop. I had a ton of x86 laptops and never ever opening the lid would instantly show login screen if not connected to power. Also, battery usage with closed lid (and presumably laptop in sleep mode) is lower than x86 per my experience.2. I had a ton of x86 laptops and never ever opening the lid would instantly show login screen if not connected to power. Also, battery usage with closed lid (and presumably laptop in sleep mode) is lower than x86 per my experience.2. AI NPU unit is not used at all, not only here but in all latest AI cpu, maybe marginally but nowhere near the capabilities of local tokenization with interaction with AI chats. Also, Copilot button opens standalone app that in my findings works must slower than same one in the Edge browser. And why did they remove ctrl button, why not alt, at least make it configurable, which key copilot replaces.3. Emulation - on one side I am very impressed that Microsoft manage to pull it through to the extent my daily usage does not suffer a lot (office, spreadsheet, databases). I managed to install 25 year old Filemaker Pro 5 and it works totally fine, around 2 times slower than on AMD Ryzen 7940HS but again it works. With current version of Filemaker Pro (cross platform database, windows, mac silicon, no native arm on windows) it is maybe three times slower, I suspect some issues with disk performance contributes there. So yeah, it can be a deal breaker, and it was. Compared to Mac silicon introduction Apple emulation was much better, Filemaker was on par with Intel Mac before they introduced Mac silicon version, which is now up to twice faster than Windows version.4. Gaming - I attached my external Steam library and tried just 3D Mark Time Spy. It needed some time to "emulate" at the beginning, and then it worked fine, slower, much slower than I expected, although I run it on a battery in balance mode just to test, scored just 1789 (1625 gpu, 4191 cpu) I did not know about 3D Mark test that works fine on arm.5. Time Spy runs practically silent and cool like everything else. 30 years ago I studied risc cpu architecture that is behind all of this and finally it is (almost) usable on a PC.6. Battery life is not that great when you push it, but overall, it does not spend battery when unused like x86 counterparts, and for me instant on is a spot on.7. I would never pay msrp price, that is way overpriced for what it offers, got a deal for $700 open box.8. It did not want to connect to Google Nest Wifi for unknown reason, password is correct, response was - can't connect.I use a different router for testing (Xfinity) and that one works just fine, but my printers and other computers are all on a different wifi so when I tried to connect to my surprise it did not want to! After connecting it to a third wifi (mobile phone hotspot) and then back to the same wifi it worked?! Not sure what happened, but it worked fine after that.9. Fit and finish is debatable, screen and keyboard are subpar but passable.10. Performance wise - very good if native, LM Studio is able to do up to 12 tokens/second. That is way better than AMD or intel offer without nvidia discrete help. And that was a kind of a revelation in overall experience since local large language model interaction and response was (mostly) instant, silent and cool (temperature wise), with ai response generation much faster than you can read (I think threshold is 5-6 tokens/sec).

It is a premium laptop built solidly on an aluminum chassis weighing only 2.97 pounds. Its thin profile of 0.56 inches and dimensions of 12.32 x 8.8 inches makes it an excellent size for mobility. It is also built to be very powerful and on a Snapdragon X-Elite chip, which delivers speed and the ability to work with graphics and more complex programs and do so without draining the battery. The lithium-ion polymer 3-cell battery, the best I have ever had in a mobile Windows laptop computer, charges to total capacity in about 75 minutes, has lasted me over ten straight hours of use and is still at 65 percent capacity. HP boasts the battery lasts 26 hours! That is impressive! However, I have not worked on it long enough to evaluate the battery and see how long it actually does lasts. I would guess, like anything else, that if you do not require the battery to power video or graphics constantly, it will come close to achieving the 26 hours stated in the literature. The Qualcomm Snapdragon X-Elite processor, a true powerhouse, is a standout feature of the HP OmniBook X. This model is equipped with 16 GB of RAM (with a 32 GB RAM option) and a 1 TB Solid State Drive (SSD) storage. Other storage options include a 512 GB SSD and a 2 TB SSD. The 14-inch IPS (in-plane switching) display, made of Corningâs Gorilla Glass, boasts a screen resolution of 2240 x 1400 and is a 2.2K touchscreen that performs exceptionally well. The color accuracy is top-notch, making it a perfect choice for professionals in architecture, design, or graphics arts whose work depends on colors/hues being accurate and exact.Built-in ports on the laptop include 2 USB-C, 1 USB-A, and 1 3.5 headphone/microphone jack. It does not have an HDMI Output connection, which I think could have enhanced the design further, and increasingly, laptops are omitting the numeric keyboard, which I also think is a negative on this model. The box has a 65-watt USB-C charging cable/cord, but it is all one piece, and the charging cable is cloth. I wonder if it will have issues with lasting, but time will tell. This laptop has excellent Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4 connectivity, and I had no trouble connecting it to other devices and the internet. I particularly like the backlit keyboard and the ability to turn the backlit on and off.The laptop includes a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with a built-in microphone. The system also allows the user to turn the camera on and off. This is a fantastic option in our increasing world of snoops and hackers running loose online. It is also equipped with Poly Studio dual speakers. The Snapdragon X-Elite processor is designed with a dedicated Qualcomm Hexagon neural processing unit (NPU), a feature that makes the computer more personal as the user interacts with it. The AI engine with an NPU is designed to learn from use and adapt to the user's needs, habits, and preferences. HP has integrated AI Windows and Copilot + in this model. Copilot + includes features like Cocreator, Live Captions, and Windows Studio Effects, all AI-enhanced features that add automation to your work, making your experience with the HP OmniBook X truly futuristic.I had a challenging time setting this computer up for unknown reasons. I made sure that I updated all the files, but I still had a lot of lags and bugs during a process that took much longer than setting any other computer up that I have owned in the last few years. I feel that a large part of these issues can be attributed to Windows 11. Still, this is a well-designed laptop with many extras for $1199, but I hope the bugs continue to work out of the system and it starts to operate more smoothly for me and the CoPilot + does what it is supposed to do. Because I have experienced so many issues with setting this laptop up, I have to give it four stars because I do not know if the issues can be attributed to Microsoft or to this particular laptop design. It is still a great little powerful laptop, and I think with time, it will become smoother and more responsive without any lags and bugs.

It helps you running all your daily computing tasks easily and smoothly. Added AI features are very helpful and thatâs where it is different than other older laptops. To note here, battery life is well managed by the AI. I was able to run the whole day without the need to recharging the battery.Compatibility Considerations:While Windows 11 and all its software runs smoothly, some other software, especially those not yet optimized for ARM architecture, might encounter compatibility issues. They would either run slow or not run at all. I just picked up HP's new OmniBook X, and this device surprisingly is quite impressive. With a 14" 2.2k touch screen, 16GB of memory, a 1TB SSD, and the Snapdragon X Elite processor, itâs a well-rounded laptop that offers a lot of functionality with ample power and space for storage. The aluminum chassis feels sturdy and premium, adding a touch of elegance to its overall appearance. It comes with two USB-C ports for power and connections, an audio jack for both in and out, 1 USB-A port, and a 65-watt braided cable with small power brick. Simplistic but intricate design that provides everything you need. The 14" 2.2k touch screen is admirable, delivering vibrant colors and sharp details. Whether Iâm editing photos or streaming videos, the display never disappoints. Iâm not sure what I would use the touch screen for, as this laptop does not fold 360 degrees. However, the touch functionality is responsive, making it easy to navigate through apps and documents with a simple touch if that suits your fancy. Both the keyboard and trackpad are very nice. The keyboard offers a comfortable backlit typing experience with good key travel and feedback, while the trackpad is smooth and precise, making multitasking a breeze. The built-in camera boasts great resolution and includes a privacy shutter, which is a thoughtful touch for those concerned about security. Windows Studio Effects enhance the camera experience, providing features like background blur and auto framing. The microphone quality is very good, ensuring clear audio during video calls.I was initially apprehensive about how the Snapdragon X Elite processor would stack up against comparable mainstream processors. However, I was pleasantly surprised by its speed and performance. The OmniBook X handled everything I threw at it with ease, from everyday tasks to more demanding applications. One of the surprising standout features of the OmniBook is Windows Copilot+. I for one have been slow to come around to the AI trend, but it is everywhere now, and I figured I had to take a leap of faith and jump in here. I must admit the new AI Copilot+ features are incredibly useful for productivity and creativity. Using Cocreator, I found it easy to manage my tasks and collaborate on projects in conjunction with Windows Teams which is another realm where I had no choice but join in on that endeavor due to my employer. Using the Windows Studio effects with the camera added an extra layer of professionalism to video conferencing. As someone who frequently uses Adobe Photoshop, I was concerned about compatibility and performance. The OmniBook performed seamlessly with Photoshop and the new Adobe AI. Using Copilot+ and Adobe together provided a powerful combination for editing and creating photos and AI-generated images. The smooth integration and responsiveness exceeded my expectations. My wife, who is more on the creative spectrum for hobbies and promoting our daughters dance career was in need for a portable means of computing for tasks on the go. Using Copilot+ AI has enabled her to create snap designs and images that fit perfectly with what is needed in that moment. It has truly enhanced productivity and made endless possibilities imagining different creative concepts. There are a few features that have yet to be rolled out with HPâs OmniBook and Copilot+, but Iâm excited about the future possibilities these AI features could bring. As for me, primarily being a PC gamer, I wanted to test the OmniBook Xâs gaming capabilities. While itâs not designed to handle AAA games, it does a decent job with medium to high graphic-intensive games at medium to high settings. It performs better with cloud gaming, which is a viable option for more demanding titles. The battery life is superb, lasting through a full day of use without needing a charge. The device runs cool, even during extended use, and the low noise levels make for a pleasant user experience. The HP OmniBook X with Windows Copilot+ is a versatile and powerful laptop that excels in both productivity and creative tasks. Its build quality, impressive display, and advanced AI features make it a great device for personal and professional use. Despite some limitations in gaming, itâs a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a reliable and high-performing laptop. I can see this laptop is designed more for the advancing student in school or business professional, but whether youâre a professional, a student, or a creative, the OmniBook X has something to offer. Iâm thoroughly impressed with this device and highly recommend it.

It can run for hours and hours on battery, and charges quickly when it needs more juice. It comes with Microsoftâs new Copilot integration, which hasnât been utilized much yet. Especially since my office utilizes G-suite, the pro version which integrates with Office wasnât worth an upgrade. While it gets the job done, it does have some quirks that are aggravating enough that I find myself reaching for my previous device often.First, with the small screen comes a struggle with finding the right resolution for multi-tasking. It defaults to a 150% zoom, which means having more than one window open results in not seeing much in either pane. Dropping it to the next setting of 125% means the text becomes super tiny. This might be okay if actually using it on your lap, but put it on a desk and it becomes challenging to navigate. The touchscreen feature was a must, especially for online photo editing and creating graphics using online software. Unfortunately, the on screen keyboard renders it nearly useless. EVERY time you touch the screen, the keyboard pops up and has to be closed. Trying multiple settings, and even asking Copilot for guidance on how to disable the on screen keyboard changed nothing. The annoying thing pops up each and every time you try to use the touch screen. Finally, the camera has amazing resolution and captures video with clarity. This makes it really great for frequent video chats or recording. However, it has intense contrast and very dark blacks. Grays and browns come across as black, even in a bright well lit room. So while the clarity is great, the ability to capture colors is lacking.Overall, if you want a lightweight, lightning fast device to handle basic work functions and surf the web, this will meet all your needs. If you need touch capabilities, heavy multitasking, or do a lot of video recording, this might be more frustrating that it is fulfilling.

The quality of the components and the rigid aluminum shell feel good in your hands. It is very lightweight and the everything feels tight and the fit-and-finish are superb. The system is generously configured - the processor is the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite 3.4GHz with on-board Adreno graphics. There are 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM (soldered on) and a 1TB SSD.The screen is a 14", touch capable, IPS, 2240 x 1400 resolution capable of up to 300 nits. In actual use it is detailed, colors are very good and plenty bright! There is also a 5 megapixel front facing camera for video conferencing and the quality and sensitivity are very good. The keyboard is backlit and key travel is good. The trackpad is large and responsive.Like most smaller form factor laptops the number of ports is limited. The unit features two USB-C ports (one generation 4 2.0 and one 3.2), one USB-A 3.1 and a combo microphone/headphone jack. Wireless capability is via Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth.I haven't done extensive battery life testing but in my experience the unit easily last all day.So, with all of this praise, why only three stars???The Windows 11 environment on the Snap Dragon chip is still very much a work in progress. Let me be clear - any native applications (there are too few at the time of this review) perform extremely well! If you spend your day entirely within Microsoft Office and a web browser (Edge or Chrome for example) that have been compiled into native ARM code you will be quite impressed. Performance and battery life will exceed your expectations. However, if you run programs that have been compiled for the x86/ARM chips they must execute through an emulation layer and that is where the problems begin. Many will run, but performance will be impacted. Others may be buggy or not run at all! This also affects device drivers. Many games will stagger in this environment as will several compute intensive video/photo editing suites. In fairness - emulation will ALWAYS bring these issues regardless of the hardware/OS manufacturers' best efforts. The only real solution is for developers to optimize and recompile into the native binary for the ARM chip. One final observation - the much hyped, on-board AI (via an integrated NPU with amazing specs) seems to be a solution in search of a problem. Nearly everything that I was able to demo felt more like a novelty than a production enhancer. Again - the POTENTIAL is enormous and I believe that ultimately these capabilities will find their place in the computing ecosystem and become indispensable.Final conclusion - if your needs can be met in the near term by a capable browser and Office suite and you are willing to deal with the inevitable growing pains of this new platform, then the HP OmniBook offers a very respectable offering.

Copilot+ can be quickly opened with the press of the Copilot button on the keyboard. It has many AI enabled features, but some of the noteworthy ones include Cocreator, Live Captions, and Windows Studio Effects. The Cocreator allows real-time collaboration on documents and creative projects. Live Captions provides real-time captions for any audio playing on your device, making content more accessible for those with hearing impairments. This feature also comes in handy during meetings or when watching videos in a noisy environment. In my testing with it, I found that the accuracy and speed of the captions was very accurate. Lastly, Windows Studio Effects suite takes video calls and content creation to the next level. With features like background blur, auto framing, and advanced noise reduction, your video calls look professional, and your recorded content is polished and clear. These effects are easy to use and significantly enhance the quality of your video interactions and productions. The inclusion of the Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite processor sets the OmniBook X apart from its competitors. This nextgen chip is a CPU and NPU in one unit. This processor delivers exceptional performance and energy efficiency. It handles multitasking with ease, ensuring smooth and lag-free operation even when running demanding applications. The Snapdragon X Elite also contributes to the laptopâs impressive battery life, allowing you to work longer without needing to recharge frequently. HP claims 26 hours and in my testing I found that this was basically true. I was able to get an easy 8 hours of use for 3 straight days without recharging when I took the OmniBook with me while I worked outside my home. The battery level would go down only about 1% more each night so it doesnât consume much energy when in sleep mode. When I needed to charge up at the coffee shop one day I was able to get back to 50% charge in around 30 minutes. I was using simple apps like Office 365 and the Edge browser, which just sip battery life. Obviously, using heavy duty video editing apps would consume more battery life. Also, keep in mind that there are not a lot of ARM native apps on the PC side so x86 apps have to be run under on the fly emulation (you wonât notice any real speed delays when opening an app like Adobe Acrobat), and a lot of apps might not work under emulation at the moment. Also, this laptop is whisper quiet. No more jet engine fans kicking in like in traditional PC laptops. The 14" 2.2K (2240x1400) touch-screen display is vibrant and responsive, making it perfect for both work and entertainment. It is made of Corning Gorilla Glass, and the Eyesafe Certified Display protects your eyes from harmful blue light. The high resolution ensures sharp and detailed visuals, while the touch functionality adds an extra layer of interactivity, especially useful for creative tasks and presentations. I found it fun to play around with making crude drawings using the touchscreen and then telling Copilot to make the drawing into a polished art piece. What AI can already do now is mind blowing. However, the main drawback about this screen was it was too dim. It is only 300 nits and that is unacceptable in 2024 in what is billed as a premium laptop.16GB of RAM ensures smooth performance and ample memory for all your needs. Whether you're editing videos, running multiple applications, or streaming content, the HP OmniBook X handles it effortlessly. I didnât find myself wishing I had more memory at any time I was working on this HP laptop. WiFi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 ensure that the latest current mobile technologies are supportedIn conclusion, the HP OmniBook X - Copilot+ PC is a top-tier laptop that combines powerful performance with innovative features. The Cocreator, Live Captions, and Windows Studio Effects enhance productivity and accessibility, making it an excellent choice for professionals and creatives alike. Paired with the robust Snapdragon X Elite processor, this laptop is a reliable and versatile device that delivers on all fronts. It is perfect for professionals on the go that work on primarily Office 365 and other web based apps, as the battery life is just spectacular.
đŞ BUILD:The HP OmniBook X has a durable chassis made of recycled aluminum. I was able to use my Thunderbolt 4 dock with 2 external displays (3440x1440 and 2560x1600) while also driving the internal display, but only certain refresh rates would work.đ§ EXPANSION & UPGRADES:The new Snapdragon X Elite platform has soldered ram, so you wonât be able to upgrade memory. And while you have 1TB of Western Digital SN560 onboard storage, you should be able to upgrade the storage since it has a user-replaceable 2280 NVMe SSD. Unfortunately, thereâs no SD card slot, so you wonât be able to expand the storage that way.â¨ď¸ âKEYBOARD & TOUCHPAD:The keyboard on the OmniBook X is quite pleasant to use. It uses recycled plastic for its keycaps, and the visibility is great in both well-lit and dark environments with the LED backlit keys. In my first MonkeyType test, I was able to achieve 108 wpm with 100% accuracy and 86% consistency. The touchpad is reasonably sized for a 14â laptop, and I havenât experienced many palm rejection issues. The touchpad is smooth, responsive to multi-touch gestures, and also has a quiet tactile click when pressed in on the bottom region.đť DISPLAY:Looking at the Hardware ID for this display, it comes up as âAUOCBAFâ and manufactured by AU Optronics. The display is a touch-screen IPS panel coming at 2240x1400 at 60Hz and yields a 300 nit brightness. The displays on HPâs Spectre laptops are of much better quality, reach higher resolutions, and higher peak brightness.Despite the display being sharp, I do notice that the off-axis viewing angles do exhibit more color shifting than some other IPS displays, but itâs not nearly as bad as VA panels. With that said, most people donât typically view laptop displays off-axis, so itâs not really something youâre going to notice day-to-day, but itâs still worth mentioning these concessions compared to similar products. The display is also very reflective, which youâll want to avoid using with bright light behind you.The touch-screen is responsive to both single-touch and multi-touch gestures, so it serves that purpose well. Overall, the display is functional, but isnât âpremiumâ for todayâs standards.đšâ WEBCAM & MICROPHONE:The webcam is a 5MP IR Camera with temporal noise reduction, and honestly, itâs pretty good, especially when you look at the 720p options most manufacturers are putting in their webcams, this webcam stands out since it can achieve 1440@30fps for video, and up to 2880x1800 for still image captures. And thanks to the AI-powered Windows Studio Effects found in Copilot+ PCs like the OmniBook X, you can get a background blur, portrait lighting, auto-framing and more thanks to the onboard Neural Processing Unit (NPU).The webcam is most effective in good lighting conditions as youâd expect, but in lower light conditions, I still do think it is better than a lot of other laptop webcams on the market. It also supports Windows Hello facial recognition, and has a physical privacy cover, but also has an LED next to the camera sensor to indicate when the webcam is active. The onboard dual-array microphone is clear, and has effective options for AI noise reduction within the myHP app to ensure your voice is clear during calls.đ SPEAKERS & HEADPHONE:The bottom-firing speakers on the OmniBook X are utilitarian. Theyâre good enough for speech purposes, but theyâre not great for music. The 3.5mm headphone jack is more usable, by comparison. From IEMs to over-ear open back headphones, I felt the headphone output was similar to those of products that I trust.⥠PERFORMANCE:Letâs not beat around the bushâthe OmniBook X is not going to be a top performer out of the box. At this time, the vast majority of apps are only compiled for the x86 CPUs from Intel and AMD, so these new Qualcomm Snapdragon X Elite chips have to run Microsoftâs Prism emulation layer for those apps to work. In my experience, load times and installation times were longer for these x86 apps running on the OmniBook X, while native ARM apps (of which there arenât very many) tend to be snappier. If your use-cases are more casual like web browsing, watching videos, and writing documents, then the OmniBook X can be great for this scenario. But if you use a lot of apps, or are a working professional that relies on software that isnât yet compiled for Windows on ARM, then app compatibility could be problematic. As a software developer, I used both JetBrains software as well as VSCode, and both seemed to work reasonably well. I ran a couple node.js projects with a significant amount of dependencies, and I didnât encounter any functional issues other than some slower compile times compared to an Intel or AMD notebook. I also compiled one of my apps for the Panic Playdate handheld console and was able to run it on the Playdate Simulator software without any issues. While Iâm somewhat on the subject of gamingâthis isnât a laptop meant for gaming, and at launch, every game I ran performed significantly worse than AMD-based gaming handhelds on the market. This could be due to Prism emulation, GPU driver support, or even hardware deficiencies. But from my perspective, most 3D games are largely unplayable with very inconsistent performance, while 2D games perform much more reliably. However it should be noted that even as I pushed this system, it was impressively quiet.đ§ COMPATIBILITY:But, not everything has been great. I have experienced multiple crashes during low usage. On one occasion, while I was watching a YouTube video; the display went black, and an incredibly loud droning beep came from the laptop for over 15 seconds before it completely shut off on its own and restarted. Two other crashes occurred randomly while I was writing notes in a Google Doc. In all cases, I was using the Microsoft Edge browser.Another thing many prospective buyers should consider is hardware compatibility with other devices. I wasnât able to install my Canon printer drivers which means I canât use my printer with this computer, and there arenât any plug-n-play drivers available. And trying to run the installer under compatibility mode and hiding the emulation from the app itself did not yield fruitful results. My MOTU M2 audio interface for recording also would not work, but my Insta360 Link webcam worked along with its companion software.Another interesting thing I noticed is that the Xbox app on PC does not allow downloading games for Game Pass subscribersâwhich is a huge misstep, since there are still plenty of low-graphics indie games on the platform that I would have liked to play on a machine like this. And on top of that, my Xbox Wireless USB Adapter for Windows simply did not have driver supportâforcing me to use my controllers over Bluetooth or Wired instead of a 2.4GHz signal for the best latency.đ¤ ADDITIONAL COPILOT FEATURESAside from the Windows Studio Effects I mentioned, there are some other Copilot+ AI features available on the OmniBook X.Cocreator in Microsoft Paint allows you to use AI to describe your paint canvas and create an AI-enhanced version of your canvas. You can add additional elements to each iteration and produce images without needing much talent (although it certainly helps). I did find the results could be hit-or-miss, and this feature only works with an internet connection, so Iâm not convinced the NPU is used a whole lot for this feature. The new Auto Super Resolution also upscales some compatible games so that they can render natively at lower resolutions for higher frame rates, while being upscaled for a crisper image. However, there are only 11 compatible games at launch, and even manually enabling this feature doesnât seem to really yield results. Iâm sure thereâs room to grow with this feature, but it isnât a strong selling point at least at launch. And the Live Captions feature actually seems pretty impressive since itâs able to listen to any audio youâre playing or even your own microphone then show captions on-screen, but I do wonder how useful this will be in practice. Translations between languages can be hit or miss, but itâs generally been fairly fast and reliable with captions for spoken English.đ BATTERY:In my experience, battery life has been notably better than many other laptops of this form factor and style. With mixed usage, I am able to obtain 13+ hours, which is fantastic. Iâm sure there will be folks who can achieve significantly better battery life, but as a more advanced user who uses a lot of apps and browser extensions, I am still happy with the experienceâespecially for a Windows laptop.đ§ CONCLUSION:At launch, I think that most people are going to be better off with a different laptop. Simply put, the OmniBook X is a very expensive laptop with far too many caveats in software and compatibility that Microsoft and Qualcomm need to iron out. Performance is fairly decent for what it is, while battery life is actually pretty good. But at the launch price, I think the only folks who should really consider this kind of laptop are those who prioritize battery life and know their apps and external devices work on ARM.

Not bad at all. A 14â 2.2K IPS LED touchscreen (which looks popping, by the way) is encased in an aluminum casing and chassis. The laptop feels substantial in the hands, but at the same time is extremely comfortable on the lap. It doesnât get super hot during use, and is light enough at 3 pounds that one can use it on their lap for long periods of time.In use, the OmniBook X is the perfect productivity machine. Use it to zip around the internet, use Google docs and Microsoft Office, check and send out emails, and put together presentations. The keyboard and touchpad are comfortable to use, even with the smaller 14â screen footprint. I liked the keyboard better than my daughterâs non-Windowâs laptop, and felt like the OmniBook X could give that other laptop a real run for its money. While it may not be as think or light as the Air, it matches up well on the other key aspects of a laptop (memory, processing, keyboard, touchscreen) that really make it an attractive alternative. The OmniBook X also comes with Copilot +, which is basically an AI app for Windows. I havenât spent a lot of time with these features, but have found some of them to be very helpful. While attending a webinar for work, I was in a Teams meeting and used a Copilot + feature called Live Captions to translate the real-time speaking into real-time captions. One of the speakers was presenting in Spanish, and Live Captions took her words, translated them, and then presented them to me in English. It worked really, really well! Another great feature of Copilot + is Cocreator. Iâve used this a couple of times, typing what I am looking to draw into the side box and then making a rough sketch in Paint. While Iâm drawing with my mouse, Cocreator is creating what it thinks I am drawing on the side of the screen, and dang it looks great! Iâve done several concept drawings of mechanical equipment for people across my organization, letting them know what we are looking for, and Cocreator makes an image that looks way better than my chicken scratch.I have been pleased with the OmniBook X. It is well specced, has a nice, vibrant display, is a touch screen, has AI built in, and runs cool and quiet. Highly recommended as a productivity machine.
