Issue with Macs is documented on the internet.* Support claimed the product was not tested on Dell / Mac so no commitment here and problem is with Dell / Mac.Unbelievably disappointed.

The size is very compact is great for travelers, and comes with enough I/O ports for monitors, ethernet, headset, and other USB peripherals. The cable connection to the laptop is very sturdy, but it is not removeable for travel, and the straight usb male plug forces the cord to make a long loop or bend to the docking station (more of a design element). The computer connection cable is long which makes it well suited for larger desks where it can be placed farther away and out of sight, but for a smaller desk like mine, I have it next to my laptop, and therefore can see all the cables connected to it, compared to my old docking station where the cables stretched behind my laptop monitor. Both designs work well in different ways, and hp design is clean and sleek.

I got one of these docks through work. It only worked a month and quit. I verified power cord was good but when I pressed the on switch nothing would happen. It would seem a product only a month old would be more reliable than that. Furthermore I reordered one through work. Hub was "out of stock". That was 6 weeks ago and counting. My time is too valuable than to rely on these substandard and slapdash products that are not properly tested for durability and longevity.

Expensive but does it all!

Every brand of laptop that I've thrown at this docking station has had above satisfactory results. The price is a bit steep and the ports seem to be restricted to 1 HDMI and 2 DP for multiple monitors but I've noticed that using adapters doesn't seem to make a difference and the output still works.

Great dock with character
3 September 2021

This dock is one of the best I've used. It does have some quirks. I went through 3 that didn't function correctly causing dropped video frames with multiple displays or freezing. The quirks that I noticed with this one:-using HDMI for a 3rd monitor (LG tv) requires resetting frame rate in the gpu settings to 30hz which according to the documentation from HP is not possible for the dock. But worked well for me. Same using display port.- when using HDMI for display output with multiple peripherals I had a slowdown with ethernet speed which cleared up when I changed to display port output. This remained consistent with 2 display ports using extended desktop.Using ROG zephyrus g15 with rtx 3070 and AMD CPU.

I find that it is a docking station that allows me to connect to devices that you could not use in the past. Devices like flat-panel monitors and digital cameras are not always compatible with laptops. By plugging the devices into the docking station, you can enjoy the increased visibility that is provided by a larger monitor.

New and improved

new and improved dock...works better than the original! They organized the new hub for better access and replaced the old plunger-type full top-plate on-off with a real button. No more accidental turning everything off by incidental touching the top of the unit. Now with an improved slimmer profile, and plug-and-play with no additional downloads or re-configurations.
