Compact and functional

I bought this small docking station for home office to connect my HP monitors to my work-issued Dell workstation. The monitors connected just fine with my HDMI-to-DP cables. My wireless mouse and keyboard connected without issue as well. Here’s where I would knock off a star (had it not been for user error): USB-C power to the workstation was insufficient. I should’ve checked the wattage of the Dell prior to purchase (needs 90W). The silver lining, however, is this will be perfect for my personal HP laptop which only needs 45W. I’m so excited to have a small docking station that does it all in lieu of those really long and heavy ones.

Dock Review based on Bundled Purchase

I purchased a bundle set, 2 monitors with the docking station. The monitors use HDMI’s but the docking station only has 1 HDMI. My complaint is why would you bundle products together that require additional parts / purchases. I have to buy a VGA to use on one monitor due to the dock’s limitations. Yes, I should have read specs and known, however I believed the purpose of a bundled package was to remove that level of thinking for me. I’d also believe 2 HDMIs would be a given.

Great Laptop Dock

I have been using the USB-C Dock G5 for a couple of weeks now and it has been great. I use this on my laptop in place of plugging in a HDMI Monitor Cable, Network USB-C Adaptor and a USB Hub when I am at my desk. What a great improvement. The monitor is at the correct resolution. The network is running at full speed. My USB equipment all works smoothly. Didn't have to load any software. Windows took care of linking the device and everything works that has been plugged in.

NOT COMPLETE

We received the G5 and two monitors which we were happy with. But, in order to set up the G5 with the monitors received, you had to connect them with a hdmi to usb cable, which did not come with the order. We called support, could not get through, so we spoke with someone in the Sales Department, and they did understand what type of cable were needed to set it up. We had to go and buy the cables to set them up. This was an inconvenience since this set up was bought for work purposes. Did not turn out to be a great deal after having to pay for the cables. I guess I do not know why you would sell this as a set and not include everything needed to connect it.

Partially works as desired

Although I bought my notebook and the dock at the same time, I don't think the notebook and dock are fully compatible. The USB ports work for an attached keyboard and mouse. The network port works. However, it does not charge the notebook and the HDMI connected monitor does not project. The HDMI port on the notbook projects to the monito but the dock HDMI does not. I spent several hours plugging and unplugging as recommended in troubleshooting. I downloaded drivers and firmware and updated all of those. I used the troubleshooting app/ I looked on the suggested youtube feeds. That's the state I am in.

Won't Run 3 Monitors Like I Hoped

I purchased this dock specifically because I have three detached monitors on my desk that I want to run while the lid of the laptop(s) are closed. (I have two laptops: a circa 2017 HP ZBook G3 with displayport built into the USB-C ports, and a brand new Elitebook 840 G8 for work). My screens are two 1080 HD monitors that are 5 or 6 years old, but use combinations of displayport and HDMI, and my main monitor is a 2010 era Apple Cinema Display 27" with mini-Displayport. With adapters, each of the monitors run fine at their native resolution, and without this dock, I can run any two of the monitors plus the built-in laptop screen (which is physically smaller and harder to read). My experience, however, is that while I can connect the three monitors this way, one of the monitors is always at the wrong resolution (and will not allow adjustment). If I take one of the monitors (HDMI is my choice) out of the dock and plug it directly into the laptop(s), then I get all three monitors working the way I want. So... I can get what I want, but not the way I wanted it. My configuration is such that I don't use the dock's other port -- I only care about the monitors. That's my reason for marking this down to 3 stars.

disconnect

The device works badly for me. I am in a private company. I own 20 decoding devices with an HP laptop. The screen disconnects for 20 seconds and disconnects the network for 50 seconds. It only works when I unplug the cable and turn it on again. Knowing that I updated the definition, the last update, and the last update also for the laptop with Windows 11, knowing that the decoupage disconnects every hour 20 seconds for the screen and 50 seconds for the network, and this is a sensitive place that cannot be separated from this time
