Good effort but never see it standing a chance against a different style headset.Battery life on them was very good lasting a good few hours on a single charge and just popping back in the case gets them back to full power pretty quickly. I also tested the wireless charging of the case and that works well too. (reverse charge from my phone)The sound quality is great for these in such a small earbud, if it wasn't for my small ears they would be perfect sadly they just aren't stable and constantly feel like they will fall out when walking. They fit fine for my partner, just not for me.

I didn't have to turn up the volume too high to get a decent volume. You can use tap motions, such as double tap on the earbud to skip to the next song which is useful but what I found very inconvenient is the lack of volume control. I think this is a really important feature that has been missed. Taking out the phone to adjust the volume is annoying when travelling. The active noise cancellation (ANC) didn't do much for me. I tried it on public transport and on a couple of flights, the best way to test in my opinion but found very little difference. The battery life seems decent, probably 2-3 days worth of listening to music on a commute to work. As mentioned, the in-built charger in the case is very handy for when you run out of juice.Overall, I enjoyed using them especially as they have good sound and there is no discomfort in wearing them. If ANC was improved and volume control added then these would deserve the full price.

The app is very useful for keeping an eye on battery life and personalising the touch commands.I've never been a big fan of open-fit earphones as they never stay in my ear, however the Freebuds do sit comfortably and as of yet, have not fallen out! Sound quality wise, the buds are very impressive. Audio is crisp no matter what the source, and there is no lag when watching videos. At full volume, the sound gets slightly tinny but I don't find this an issue as I wouldn't normally listen that loud. The buds so far have lasted me 3 to 4 hours before needing to go back on charge. The Active Noise Cancelling is a great addition to these open-fit buds. Obviously, as these are not in-ear silicon tipped earphones, it's impossible to block out the surrounding noises. The feature, which can be fine tuned in the app, does however do a good job of reducing the noises of a busy background. When audio is not playing, you can hear a strange buzz which is this feature working.

Great alternative to Apple buds
20 January 2020

I recently purchased these Huawei Freebuds3. They mainly get used when I'm walking and at the gym.The packaging & box gives the Freebuds a premium look & feel. I use a Pixel 4XL phone, and I heard that these buds work and pair easiest with Huawei phones, but I had no problem setting these up at all. I was up and running immediately. After I installed the AI Life app from the Google Play app store, a firmware update was available which I installed. The buds fit my ears securely and haven't came out during my walks or moderate exercise. During more vigorous they have come close to coming out but I felt them 'move' and I re-seated them.Sound quality - these are my first buds so I can't really compare. During more vigorous they have come close to coming out but I felt them 'move' and I re-seated them.Sound quality - these are my first buds so I can't really compare. I also have a pair of low cost bluetooth earphones, plus a set of premium noise cancelling over ear headphones. The sound quality is between the cheap the two other sets, which is fair when you consider that the earbuds are priced between the two as well. I've listened to pop, dance & rock music, plus audiobooks. Volume control is via the phone onlyThe noise cancelling functionality doesn't seem that effective when compared to the over ear headphones, which is understandable. I wouldn't buy these if the noise cancelling aspect is high on your list of priorities. The AI Life app can adjust the scope of the noise cancelling, and I can detect some differences, however in the end the noise cancelling just isn't that effective. The earbuds charge by putting them back into the case, and the case charges via a standard USB-C cable. I found that the case needs recharging after about 8-10 45 minute gym sessions. The power levels are shown via the AI Life app.

I was very excited to receive the Huawei Freebuds 3 to try out for myself after hearing good reviews and reading about the tantalising feature set.... I was not disappointed. These earphones have incredible sound for the size and the noise cancelling is surprisingly good! However, I do recommend trying them before buying them because I have problems with open fit earbuds and I know that I am not the only one who has this problem. The first impression was very satisfying. The product is very well packaged and feels like a premium item. The build quality is excellent, the case is very well designed and the experience of pairing the bluetooth signal with your device is extremely simple and intuitive. Attributes of note are the double taps of the earbuds to switch off noise cancelling or pause/play your music, wireless charging and long battery life. Sound quality was more than adequate and I was pleasantly surprised by the level of clarity and detail these buds delivered. Bass is good for an open fit set, mid range is well separated and treble is clear and crisp without sounding tinny at all. Good performance all round! The only thing I would like to see changed is the Huawei AI life app which is used for adjusting ANC, applying firmware updates and monitoring battery life. It was great to be able to fine tune the ANC levels but the dial control has no markings on it, no minimum or maximum and you need to fiddle about with it quite a lot to get it to sound right. I'm sure this can be fixed with an update but I found the design a little uncomfortable and I hope Huawei can improve this with a future update. In general, the earbuds look feel and sound great, even though I had trouble keeping them in my ears! However, I can still recommend the Freebuds as a great piece of kit!

They're slightly thicker than "classic fit" earbuds, but are very light and I could quickly forget I was wearing them. The sound quality is impressive. Bass is particularly good without being overwhelming, and the overall sound is rich and clear. They are equally capable with pop, rock or classical music. They occasionally struggle with complex songs with a lot of instruments and lose a bit of definition, especially if you like to listen to your music quite loud, but it never spoiled my enjoyment of the music. The active noise cancelling is less effective than you get with the best noise cancelling headphones, but that's to be expected with this style of earbuds. It reduces continuous, low frequency noise (such as on a bus or train) quite significantly. The app lets you tune the noise cancelling - you rotate a dial until you find the profile that best cancels out the particular noise around you. There are a few annoyances. While you can customise what happens when you double-tap each earbud (pause, etc), you can't assign volume controls. The only way to change volume is by getting out your phone. They don't support any low-latency codecs such as AptX, so they're not well suited to using with a TV.It would be nice if these issues were changed in a future firmware update, but they don't stop the FreeBuds being a very impressive pair of earphones, particularly for listening to music on a phone.

HUAWEI FreeBuds 3: Best wireless earbuds for Android

There is a sound difference when ANC is on and off, but don't expect miracles. You'll be able to recharge each earbud four times. So, you can get around 20 hours of battery life, counting in the battery life of both the buds and the case before charging. You don't need to install an app to use these earbuds. However, if you install Huawei's 'AI Life' app, you'll get access to some extra functionality, such as customize the touch gestures on each earbud. I did not experience any issues when it comes to connectivity, none at all. If you have a Huawei phone running EMUI 10, wearing detection function works well, and the same goes for 'pop-up and pair' functionality. These are great wireless earbuds. I did say they're amongst the best open-ear wireless earbuds on the market, if not the best ones. They're a great all-round pair of earbuds that not only handle music properly, but you can also make and take calls on them without an issue.

Just by tapping the left bud, it enabled the noise cancelling feature to be switched on or off. Also the microphone quality was very clear when speaking to others, I enjoyed not having my use wired headphones and the luxury of being hands free especially when I was travelling with multiple suitcases/bags. The earbuds once fully charged with continued use, would last on average around 4 hours which is not too bad to be honest considering it takes approximately 1 hour to get a full charge. The AI Life app was very useful, as it informs you of the battery life percentage of both earbuds including the carry case. Also it has the option to change the shortcuts on each ear of the Freebuds such as enable/disable noise cancelling, play/pause, play/next or wake voice assistant.

I received this product as part of a review program in return for an unbiased review.Firstly, this is going to be a quick, to the point review - I'm not going to go into useless details. so, instead of 13 Reasons Why, here are my top 3 Reasons Why you should try the Freebuds 3 by Huawei:1. They sound the part! Seriously, the sound quality on these earbuds is astonishing given the fact that they are IN EAR BUDS - the range of sound, including high, mid and low end (although low to a slightly lesser degree) is very, very impressive. The sound is better than my over ear headphones that cost a similar amount a few years ago so that shows just how far Huawei have been able to push this technology.2. They look the part! Obviously these look VERY similar to a rather 'fruity' competitor, but given that they are thought of as being desirable and cool then that is no bad thing.3. They go the distance! The battery life on the earbuds is really, really good. I have had these playing a mix of loud music and radio for a whole afternoon and there was still plenty of life in the earbuds - but if you do get low, just place them back inside the case for a few minutes and you will be juiced up in no time.Obviously these also come with noise cancelling - to be honest i'm not a great fan of this feature, but these have it and it does work, so that's another bonus I guess!Bad points are:1. They could be cheaper as expensive at full RRP .2. The case itself gets scratched easily (i would recommend buying a neoprene cover for the case to keep it looking fresh); and3. You get to realise just how badly mixed or mastered some tracks really are....which has been rather depressing at times!Overall these are great earbuds, especially if you can find them on offer then the rating is 5 stars as this was my only concern.

I received this product as part of a review program in return for an unbiased review.FIRST IMPRESSIONI have been looking for a pair of Bluetooth noise cancellation earplugs for a while before I serendipitously stumbled upon the opportunity of trying out the new HUAWEI FreeBuds 3. My first impression was that we are definitely dealing with a high-quality product, not just an average pair of Bluetooth earplugs, this looks and feels really good. Well, not the case for FreeBuds3!The noise cancellation option works really well too, and it's something I had never experienced before. I find it definitely helps my mental health and peace of mind during noisy tube journeys!Phone calls are very easy to handle and the quality of the calls is also very high, it really helps if you are in crowded or noisy spaces.FITThey look and feel really light. They fit easily on my ears and are comfortable while I walk as well. You can almost forget to have them on.FEATURESThe battery life is good and the very pretty case is also a wonderful fast charger, which fits easily every bag and can fully recharge your buds really fast. I had no issues to connect to my Huawei P20 Lite and the set up was super simple.FINAL COMMENTI definitely recommend Huawei FreeBuds3 to everyone who wants to experience what it means to step to the next level of comfort and quality in the realm of Bluetooth earbuds.
