Mounted the Helix 5 on my Old Town kayak and so far I've been satisfied. Installation was simple enough and the initial set-up was a breeze. I like the simplified set-up menu(s), easy to understand but hard to screw-up. This is a step up for me as I've always used the simple sonar which works, but I wanted a little more detailed display. Sonar plus Down Imagining is good enough for me and it didn't hurt the pocketbook too much.

I installed this on a 21 ft pontoon boat: I attached the sensor on the water pump mount for the livewell on the back of the pontoon. The cable just made it to the top of the captain's helm with no extra. I had to run it at an angle to make it work. I couldn't run it with all the other wires. Install was easy and for running the helix 5 DI G2, if I could figure it out anybody should be able to. I am a weekend fisherman so I don't want all the hoopla, just family time.
I’ve brought my first fishing poles from here it was awesome even my first fishing hat you couldn’t tell me I wasn’t a fisherman, everyone was helpful and willing to assist me I loved this experience, I wish I can name everyone in the store but I was so excited forgot names keep up the good work
I expected more from Humminbird. I have owned their units for the past 40 years and this one does not compare to the others. If I were only looking for a structure finder I would have purchased another brand that my friend has which does a much better job and costs much less. I went back to my Wide Paramount and use this one for a backup. If my Paramount goes south, I won't be back to Humminbird. They have really cheapened up their units unless you want to pay a thousand bucks for one of their better ones.
Not at all happy with this unit. I bought it specifically because it supposed to measure speed. Used it for several hours and never saw a way to turn on the speed reading.
I have at least 10 various types of fish finders on the go during the summer and at least half as much during the winter.Up till the helix line, all have been humminbird.If you buy any humminbird with down imaging ( DI ) from the 100-Series up to the Helix-Series; The most important component is the box.Do not damage the box. Take care of the box; you are near certainly going to need it.You are very likely to find that it is near useless for anything but slow speeds. It does read bottom, as in dept. It's just not at all sufficiently capable to read and display structure and fish contact information. Not even at moderate speeds.Now; hook up a frequency compatible non-di head to that very same di-transducer and all of a sudden you have a reasonably functioning ... The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I really should have opted for a larger screen. The 5 DI works as advertized!!! My eyes aren't what they used to be so I need a larger screen, period. This is my first venture into the DI realm and to say I'm impressed is an understatement. I use this on the bow of my boat and fish standing up all the time, thus the reason for needing a larger screen, If it was on my dash it would be just fine. If I do buy another, it be a larger screen for the front and I'll put this one at the dash location. I hope this helps you decide
This is the Humminbird 410200-1 which does have DI but does not have GPS. I knew which unit I wanted and it is the one I got. It is a great unit which is true about all of Humminbirds products. Those who are giving bad reviews because it doesnt have this or doesn't have that didn't read the PN that is in the description. Do your research, learn the differences in the units, and make a decision based on that.
