If you are thinking about purchasing this tool BUT IT. For its price this is of extremely high value. High quality handforged Swedish steel and beautiful durable handles. NO VARNISH. Instead the handle has a light coat of oil on it. The axes does not come razor sharp but has a decent edge. It also comes with a leather sheath that is of decent quality.

I have had this hatchet for a few years now and love it. I have had others much more expensive but none quite like this. It is a bit more robust, with an awesome sturdy handle. The head weighs a bit more than the average hatchet but that is how I prefer it. My wife doesn't care for the weight so I bought her a Stihl. After 3 years of fulltime professional use I lost it at the end of last season but am in the process of ordering a replacement. As for issues with the handle coming loose as mentioned in other reviews I have had no such problems. Of course I regularly oil the handle with boiled linseed oil as all wooden handles should be and that completely prevents any issues.

The grain orientation in the handle is phenomenal and it's ergonomical. The handle qaulity is just below some of my more expensive axes not even a problem with the kerf or wedge. The sheath holds up well but fits a little loose on the head and can easily be slipped of without undoing strap. The worst part of this axe is the edge, it comes terribly dull so expect to be sharpening this and reshaping it before you can finds its full potential. In my opinion this shouldn't be your primary hatchet but it's a good complimentary hatchet to a Gransfors Bruks when using in less preferred situations that may result in damaging the edge.

I bought the Husqvarna multi purpose axe off of Amazon a couple of years ago and love it and my specimen is very, very good. Perfect grain and while the fit of the head onto the handle has some gaps it has stayed rock solid through a good bit of use. I was so pleased with that axe. My hatchet, well, is a lemon. The entire head was forged crooked. Either that or it warped during heat treat. It was $30.99 so no big deal but be warned that the QC is spotty. It seems as though most have gotten good specimens. I should have returned it but by the time I noticed how bad it was I had already sanded down the handle and applied linseed oil to it. I had also filed the edge a bit so I guess I had already taken ownership of it. I should have looked closer at it. I'll probably buy another at some point. The hatchet is a tad heavy and it uses the same axe eye as the multi purpose axe. If the head was better I would probably put a 20 inch handle on it. That seems about right for this head. It is more of a belt axe than a hatchet. I guess this guy will sit in the wood shed for kindling duty. Oh well. I know, pics or it didn't happen so here ya go.
I must say this is a very well made tool! It has a nicely shaped handle made of very good quality wood. Nice chunky head and was good and sharp out the box. I like the look of the head, it has a cast metal/black finish with the cutting edge ground back to polished steel. Cuts very well so far. Excellent value hatchet, would highly recommend!
This is a beautiful tool. I bought it for splitting kindling, and I am not disappointed whatsoever! This tool is a workhorse, rugged, and stays sharp! Love the feeling of having a sturdy handle, and solid cutting action. This hatchet will be used for a long time!!
Ive had this hatchet for about 3 years and it has really grown on me. Its a great for splitting wood for the fire. I also use it for my spoon carving hobby. The quality of this tool is far above its purchase price
This little hatchet (axe) balances well and is a very handy size. Now it's not something I would use for serious axe work but, for trimming limbs and light camping uses it works well. Unlike the normal hatchets and cheap axes found at most big box hardware stores, this little axe will actually hold an edge and bite into wood if you really want to chop something down. Its compact length makes it handy to carry or pack and, the head is properly heat treated and shaped for "real world use".
The steel in the head is nice- it sharpens easily and holds a good edge. The head is heavy and thick which makes it a great splitter for its size. The handle came loose after a few months of weekend use. It is an odd size and I don't see spares listed on this site so I'm not sure what I will do once it gets too loose to continue using. Overall, great hatchet for the money, just expect to have to service it if you use it with any regularity.
I oredered this hatchet as I wanted an axe I could bring to my camping trips, backpacking for a couple of days and use randomly at home. I skip the lightest option as I found it exhausting to work with something lighter. If I need to chop small wood, I just use a fixed blade knife. This hatchet is a heavy option for backpacking, but it was worth it. When I need to chop wood for a whole night, I can say I thanked this gem for saving me some moves and efforts. The materials look very durable and I have a total trust it'll last me some years and adventures.
