Hydralyte is a specifically formulated electrolyte solution containing a balance of essential electrolytes. Hydralyte contains sodium - an electrolyte essential for water retention - and potassium, vital for nerve and muscle function. Hydralyte also contains a limited amount of glucose to assist with the absorption of electrolytes. Hydralyte may be taken on the first signs of fluid loss due to vomiting or diarrhoea. It may also be taken if fluid is lost from sweating caused by a high temperature, excessive heat or strenous excercise. Hydralyte electrolyte ice blocks can be taken whilst vomiting is still occuring as being frozen only small amounts are consumed enabling it to be easily absorbed. Hydralyte ready made liquid is best taken when more fluids can be tolerated. The ready made liquid is also safe for babies. It is recommended that Hydralyte be stored in the freezer or refridgerator to access immediately when required.
