You can connect 3 different health apps on your phone - Strava, Garmin or the Apple Health. Since I have an Apple iPhone I chose Apple Health of course. The app will ask you a series of optional questions such as your height, weight, age, etc. You tell the app which Hyperice device you own and they then offer you routines for working out while wearing it. You connect it to your phone via Bluetooth and it then becomes a remote with tons of information for you. You do NOT need to connect this to your phone to use however and in all honesty after testing out the various things the phone app does I simply put it around me now. It uses a velcro-type wrap closure and the controls work perfectly from the attached control box which is on the right side of me. That box does everything I need it to - controlling the heat or vibration levels which is my main use for the belt. This is really handy for those folks that do not have a cell phone - you can still benefit from wearing it.There are 3 heat levels and you will note 3 white lighted dots to the left of power button with 1 being low heat, 2 medium and 3 high. The vibration has Steady, Intermittent and Pattern or Off for selections on the right side. If you wish to use the app it will help you control things like battery life, routine times and other things, depending on how you plan on using it.Another really nice thing is you get a FREE one-on-one assessment with a dedicated clinician. They will explain how to use your product, optimize your device based on your needs and assess with real-time movement capture. That is a wonderful feature that most companies would charge you for. I was very impressed by it.I have been wearing my Venom 2 Back daily and as I have 2 small umbilical hernias I find I can now do more exercising/movements when wearing my belt without the pain if I wear just a plain medical binder. Definitely holds my lower abs in place comfortably and the heat is such a bonus - keeps my pain away! It heats up lightening fast too. You wrap it around you, press the power button then set your level of heat desired and within seconds, and I mean just a few seconds, it is heated and you are already feeling relief.I love being able to walk around anywhere with it on and be getting heated help. No more wires with a heating pad and sitting or lying in one spot. It does hold a charge for a fairly long time, depending on what you're using it for. The vibration uses the most energy of course. There is a little light on the control box that will show you if the battery is getting low. It starts to turn yellow instead of green like when fully charged. It charges fast though so you don't have to be without it very long. You'll see a blinking light when it is charging and that stops when it's ready to go again. The Hyperice Venom 2 belt has made all the difference in my comfort level and just plain feeling great after wearing. I absolutely couldn't be without it now! A highly recommended purchase by a very grateful user!

As a combination heating pad and massaging tool I like what Hyperice has done with the Venom 2. What I see little value in is that this Venom 2 connects via Bluetooth back to your mobile phone. If you own other Hyperice products like the Hypervolt 2 massage devices, having the Venom 2 show up the app you already use could be of value and massage devices tend to have routines to follow for maximum results, but for owners of just the heating pad the only value-add to installing the mobile app is to be able to set the duration of the massage. By moving the timer function to the mobile app Hyperice avoids additional buttons/knobs/controls directly on the device but the only two functions the devices does - provide heat at 3 intensity levels and choose 1 of 3 massage ... MoreAs a combination heating pad and massaging tool I like what Hyperice has done with the Venom 2. By moving the timer function to the mobile app Hyperice avoids additional buttons/knobs/controls directly on the device but the only two functions the devices does - provide heat at 3 intensity levels and choose 1 of 3 massage methods are all controlled via physical button on the belt. As to duration, the mobile app lets you define a timer than starts and stops the Venom 2 when the time is up, but I could just as easily start the session from the heating pad and then use a clock to know when my 10 minutes are up. Perhaps the only real benefit of having this integration is that like any other electronic device these days, the moment I connected the Venom 2 to my phone app there was a firmware update available. There were no release notes or indication why the update was necessary or what benefit I would see from installing it but it was a quick and simple update. As to the fit/function/experience of the Venom 2, It’s got enough velcro to wrap tightly around a variety of body types. I’m rounder at the waist than my wife, and our teenage boy is thin-as-a-nail and all three of us were able to easily adjust the Venom 2 to fit each of us snugly. I enjoyed the medium heat setting on my lower back which always aches from me pushing myself too hard on sprint work. My wife loves the nuclear heat option (aka level 3). Our teenager said the vibration options other than steady were weird. If you currently own and use other products from Hyperice then the Venom 2 fits well within the rest of the Hyperice eco-system of products and I would recommend it.

In addition, normal heating pads are not always easy to get to stay in the right spot or cover the whole area where relief is needed, causing constant, annoying shifting. That is why I was excited to hear about the Hyperice - Venom 2 Back Wrap with advanced heat and vibration. It is a wide, low profile, wireless belt-type heating pad wrap that you can charge, then wear while you go about your everyday activities. Awesome idea! How well would it work? When I received the Venom 2, I immediately opened the box to find the Venom 2 wrap, the wrap's charger and 4 different configurations of prong attachments for the charger that allow you to choose the one that matches your electrical outlet configuration. I choose and quickly attached the standard North American 120v AC prong attachment and plugged the charger into an available outlet. I then plugged the charger into the ~2" square, ~1.25" high, rounded cornered control unit on the wrap and allowed it to charge until full.Once completely charged, I snuggly wrapped the Venom 2 around my waist, centering the wide heating portion of the wrap on lower area of my back and secured the wrap with the Velcro-style flap. The Venom 2 felt extremely comfortable and flexible. It contoured to my back's profile. The control unit was well designed to be totally out of the way of my arms when I moved or swung them while walking. The control unit also was to the right side and out of the way when I had to move close to a counter, table or desk; yet, it was in the perfect position (for a right-handed person) to easily control the Venom 2.There are 3 soft push buttons on the top side of the control unit. The center button is the on / off power switch and a green LED which will light up, when the unit is powered on. The button to its left, while you are wearing the wrap, is the heat button, which you can push to access 3 levels of heat, with each push increasing it to the next level, which is visually displayed by 3 small white LEDs above the button. The 4th push on the button will turn the feature off. The button to its right is the Vibration button, which with each of 3 pushes, will provide a different pattern of vibrations. Again, the 4th push on the Vibration button will turn that feature off.It is amazing how fast the Venom 2 heats up! When you first put it on after charging, it takes a few seconds to heat, but after you have been using it, pushing the heat button gives you instantaneous and even heat and the 3rd level is delightfully very warm indeed! I would definitely have a tee shirt on while using it with heat (it keeps you from being burned and helps keep the wrap clean). As far as the vibration modes, I consider them a bonus, but probably won't use them very much. You would have to assess yourself how valuable they are to you.The Venom 2 does each of the heat and vibration modes in cycles. It will stay heated and / or (yes you can use them simultaneously!) vibrating for approximately 15 minutes, then will turn off those modes, while the overall power button will stay on for a few more minutes to allow you to restart a mode. After that few more minutes, the overall power will shut down to save power and will give you a couple of slight vibratory signals to let you know the unit turned off. If you have not totally depleted the battery, it will be ready to turn on again any time you desire.I have used the Venom 2 throughout the day at different intervals, usually just using the highest heat. I have yet to totally deplete the battery, so I cannot give a valid estimate of battery time. I believe you will find it very sufficient. So, all in all, the Hyperice - Venom 2 Back is extremely well designed to give you instantaneous heat and vibration in a comfortable, mobile format, is very easy to use, and very effective in providing back pain and tightness relief. I think it is a wonderful product!

The Hyperice Venom 2 Back is a great portable back warmer and massager. After unboxing I plugged it in for 6 hours as instructed and then used it for the first time. The Venom 2 has a power button and 2 buttons for heating and massaging that each have three different settings. The heating elements I must say get warm very quickly and feel nice on your back. The highest settings wasn't too hot that it was uncomfortable. The heating elements heats for about 5-7 minutes and then automatically shuts off. A quick tap of the button will turn it back on. The massaging feature has three different settings. One is a long continuous massage, another is a pulsing massage and another is an intermittent jolt. Combining the heating and massaging elements together feels good on my back after a long round on the course. The velcro holds nice and tight around my waist and the neoprene is a good material. I will say I think the only gripe I have is that the battery life isn't that long. I believe the heating element only works for about an hour total before it needs recharged or about 4-5 heating cycles. I haven't tried keeping the product plugged in, but the main reason I believe for the price is the portability factor which could be better imo, so that is really the only gripe I have. If you're only going to be using it for 30-45 minutes each day around the house doing chores its the perfect choice, but don't buy it if you need continuous portable wear throughout the day because it won't go the distance.

Great personal back massager

While I like to visit my family to use their massage chair, I don't have the necessary room or really want to invest in something to that degree. That makes the HyperIce Back perfect for me as generally what I want is just to ease tension in my back more regularly than anything else.First the warmth. This thing is QUICK to heat up. The sparse instructions leave something to be desired but the one big warning they give you is level 1 heat can be on the skin, but 2 and 3 requires clothing and they're not kidding. It takes about 5-15 seconds to heat up depending on level and level 3 is nearly uncomfortable but worthwhile if you're really feeling the need. There's two adjustment straps, the first which can be stretched which closes across the front of the body and ... MoreWhile I like to visit my family to use their massage chair, I don't have the necessary room or really want to invest in something to that degree. It takes about 5-15 seconds to heat up depending on level and level 3 is nearly uncomfortable but worthwhile if you're really feeling the need. There's two adjustment straps, the first which can be stretched which closes across the front of the body and then a smaller strap that is situated within easy reach on your left side. It's sewn onto the belt on the right side, but pulling against the velcro on the left side allows you to stretch it further to help the belt define further against your back. I will say one of the main things I found myself doing was resting my back against a chair to really dig the vibrating modules into my back as otherwise even with the straps they felt much better when I could get them to dig in slightly. With the adjustment straps you're able to set it higher on your back (think chest area) and then as I'm guessing is the normal use which is lower on the back around the waist.Three potential approaches with the vibration:1. Constant with a slight pulse.2. Strong pulse on and off.3. Three short pulses followed by a long.Overall it's a great piece of kit. The major updates I'd expect are:1. Allow for control of strength of vibrations, although there's three different patterns, they're all fairly strong so the people that will enjoy this are probably reduced versus being able to reduce the strength so others in my family would use it.2. Bluetooth app requires an update but the actual use of it is fairly rudimentary. Basically all it adds versus the controls on the Venom itself are the ability to set a timer for length of use. If I'm going to register an account and setup an app, I'd expect there to be more of a use case. This would be the perfect place to put the strength settings which would make setting up the app very valuable.

Great, on the go, pain relief and warmth

I originally picked up the Hyperice Venom for my husband who has hardware in his lower back and has previously fractured his upper vertebrae. I did install the Hyperice app as well, but not necessary for functionality, more on this later. To charge, the wrap has a small controls box on the front for the power plug, charge until the power indicator light turns green, and then disconnect from the charging cable to use. The wrap is neoprene with a velcro closure to get a snug, form fitting, placement. There is an outer, thinner, neoprene band that you can then adjust and it presses the heating pad into your back for further fit. With the flexibility of the velcro, the wrap should fit most users, laid flat the total length of the wrap is just under 48".To operate, there are three levels of heat and three vibration settings, as controlled by physical buttons on top of the control pad. Once the temperature level is selected, the wrap reaches desired heat within a minute, its amazingly fast in comparison to a traditional heating pad. The first level of heat is comfortable directly on skin or through a light layer of clothing. The second level is perfect for use over clothing used inside where the ambient temperature is 70 deg F. The third level is a bit much for me to use indoors, however it's absolutely fantastic for early morning kids sports. With the ambient temperature of 40 deg F, I stayed warm while using the heat only function under a jacket. For vibration, there is a soft consistent vibration, a pulse vibration and then a pattern combination of the two. The vibration is fairly low level, same for the pulse, this is not a percussion massager level of intensity, more of a gentle movement. As far as the app goes, it needs a bit of work, but since the app isn't required to use the wrap, I still think this is a five star product. For the app, select the Venom 2 back wrap, and then the wrap will pair to your phone via Bluetooth. I'm using an Android phone, and it typically connects to the wrap the first time, but sometimes it takes multiple attempts. Once connected the app will take over any existing settings if the wrap is already in use. From the app you can set the temperature, vibration style, and a run timer, meaning the only additional functionality the app provides is a duration time. There are some good stretches listed by target muscle group in the app, but many of the stretches are targeted for use with other Hyperice devices.Lastly, while this is marketed as a back pain wrap, I think this is a game changer for a few other uses. I experienced a ton of relief for menstrual cramps. The wrap can be positioned to provide a consistent pressure, while staying in place during movement or while sitting at work. I have also used it as a warmer while working outside or while attending kids sports events. The wrap is thin enough that I can wear a jacket over it without it being obvious I have the wrap on. The wrap is also large enough to do glutes or small enough to do hamstrings / quads. Overall I think this is a fantastic wrap that is light weight enough to stay in place during activity. I highly recommend to anyone as a staple rest and recovery piece of equipment.

If You Suffer Back Pain - You Need This

This is my first experience with a product from Hyperice, but I feel pretty confident it won't be my last. To be honest, I wasn't particularly familiar with them, so I did a little research. It's really a well made, wonderful to use with simple, but intelligent operation. It's Bluetooth enabled and generates heat and massage to your back. It comes very nicely packaged and the first thing you do is plug it in to charge, with the supplied 18v charger. Included in the box are plug configurations for most electrical outlets around the world. It took about 1.5 hours to charge it up and a charge will provide up to 2.5 hours of use. The next thing you do is download the Hyperice App from either the Android or Apple App Stores. Connecting to Bluetooth was not quite as intuitive as I expected, but once I figured out the App needed an update specifically for the Venon 2 device, the app goes about connecting to Bluetooth and it is not necessary to switch over to settings to select the device there. There is a little LED light on the Venon Control module attached to the belt to let you know you are connected. And once you select the Venon 2 in the myriad devices Venon offers with Bluetooth connectivity, you can then create Routines and control the two primary buttons for heat and massage. There are three buttons on the control module. Heat - Power - Massage. You don't have to use the app as you can simply wrap the belt around your waist and choose up to three levels of heat and three levels of massage, from constant to two different vibration levels.Heat is almost instantaneous and the massage levels perfect, not overpowering. You can set a session up easily in the App, including duration of the session and level of heat and massage pattern. I've used this now for a couple days and as someone who routinely suffers from lower back pain, I'm truly pleased with the results. This isn't something I'll only use occasionally. I'll use this several time a week to help reduce discomfort from back pain. You get a quick start guide, which leaves a little to be desired, such as they should have included more information on how to pair the belt with your cell phone. You also get a legaleze type book, but to be honest, the print is so small, I'd need a magnifying glass to read it. The only nit I have about the Venon 2 is there is no case to keep it, the charging plug or any of the supplied literature. But a quick visit to the Hyperice site and they actually offer a case for $29 you can purchase. This is not an inexpensive heat/massage belt and for the price of admission, the case should have been included. Otherwise, this is a wonderful heat belt/massage, with simple, yet excellent performance. If you have back pain, I can honestly tell you this will be a wonderful health tool in your arsenal to combat pain.

Instant pain relief for my lower back.

This is my first time using a muscle therapy device like this and I was impressed almost instantly with the support and compression it provides to your back. I stay very active and often have persistent lower back pain, so this was a game changer for me. I can actually move around, go shopping, even work, while I’m wearing the brace. The first time I wore the Hyperice Venom 2 I had already been having issues with a small back injury that flared up earlier that week, so it was perfect timing. Starting with the download of the Hyperice App, which connects via Bluetooth, you can control the vibration intensity and rhythm, as well as a three tier heat option. The wrap allows you to wear it as tight as you want which gives me fantastic support without shifting as I move. Feel free to wear it sitting down, walking around the house or even to the gym, it stays in place very well, regardless of your activity. When you open the box you’ll find the venom 2, three interchangeable options for power plugs so you can use it outside of the US and a user guide. The setup is very quick and the unit itself had enough power out of the box to try out for about half an hour. The timer comes stock at fifteen minutes but you can change that in the app. I myself prefer heat and vibration for fifteen minutes and heat alone for another fifteen. The Bluetooth connection is lightning fast once you open the app which makes using it that much easier to operate. The battery life is two and a half hours, so you can get quite a few sessions before needing to be recharged. The heat function works very well and warms up quickly. When set to tier three, I would recommend keeping it off of bare skin, as it can get really warm. There are three different vibration rhythm options but no intensity option and after using it for a few days I find that I enjoy the constant vibration more than the pulsing options. Once on, worn comfortably tight and with the heat and vibration activated, the Hyperice Venom 2 provides almost instant relief wherever applied. There are a few things I’d like to see in the next model. I would like more intense vibration to penetrate deeper into my muscles, the current vibration is great but I do believe you could benefit from a little more power, if that possible. I like the shape of the wrap but if it could be designed to cover a little more of the tailbone. Although that might make it less versatile, so maybe not. But IMO, I feel like it would make a big difference, almost like a rounded V shape in the back. One last thing I would like is a bit more stiffness on the back and sides of the unit, as to not allow my spine to curve where I’m trying to keep it supported.Overall I love this product! I like to keep moving so I love the mobility, battery life, great heat intensity and support. I think you could even call this a good upgrade to a back brace if it had stiffer material. Forget massage mats you lay over chairs, the venom 2 is where it’s at and I recommend it to anyone seeking instance pain relief to be used as needed.

Let your back relax!

You know how when you get older your body just starts to ache? If you're saying no, don’t worry you'll get there! I've had back issues for a while and when I wake up or sit down for long periods of time (you know, like working at a desk), getting up can be a bit uncomfortable because of back pain. Without taking pills for the pain, the Venom 2 Back can quickly heat / massage your back and ease the discomfort. When I say quickly, I am not exaggerating - this thing heats up within a few seconds. It's so fast and soothing, that I can just wrap this around my back, turn on the heat at level 3 (max) and vibration at max, and I normally walk around with it for until it auto-shuts off after 15 minutes. Is this the solution for bad backs? No, of course not, but it does help ... MoreYou know how when you get older your body just starts to ache? If you're saying no, don’t worry you'll get there! No, of course not, but it does help lower the pain and can aid in recovery. My only issue so far is that it's meant to be worn over clothes - which is entirely reasonable - but in the summer/heat wave, it's hard to turn on the heat function because you're already hot - but the vibrations still help. There is an app that you can also use to connect w/the device, I had originally decided to skip it, but saw that it could help remind you of exercising, so I decided to create an account and log in. Upon connecting to the device, it immediately wanted to start a firmware update. Unfortunately, the instructions on screen on your phone are incorrect! Right before you start the update, it tells you to plug in both the device and your phone, and to not turn off either of them. So I plugged in the power for the Venon, and pressed start...and then nothing. As it turns out, when you plug in the power to the Venom 2, which immediately turns off the device! After waiting about 20 minutes (to not risk interrupting the update as I had no idea where it was at this point) I closed everything and tried it again - but this time without plugging in the device. The firmware immediately started and only took a few minutes. That is a bit frustrating and scary (because turning something off during a firmware update can brick the device!), but as it turned out plugging in the device before pressing update did nothing harmful. However, this was worth it.The app itself acts like a remote control, and you can change the default 15 minute timer to whatever you want, and shows you the battery level of the device. I tend to not use the apps and just use devices as is because I would rather not give up my personal information to use the app. In this particular case though, getting to increase the default 15 minutes to 30 is worth going through creating an account.Pros:Heats up very quicklyLarge velco/area covers the right spots for my painApp allows you to change the vibration type and time, which you cannot do on the device itself.Cons:Requires app to make changesFirmware instructions on screen are wrong for firmware updateNot exactly inexpensive

Surprisingly Relaxing, Great Heat Pad w Vibrations

The Hyperice Venom 2 Back is a welcome surprise when it comes to pain relief. I was pleasantly surprised by it's appearance, functionality and effect on my back. The quality of the material feels very nice, it appears to be neoprene with a very soft cloth like exterior. The heat settings are pretty impressive, the lowe4st setting gets your back hot and sweaty. The massage aspect of the belt is nice but it is more for relaxation more than therapeutic. The rolling motors do not dig deep enough to be considered a massage. It vibrates strongly but it does not go beyond that in my opinion. The heating/massage pad is large enough to cover your lower back and it's wrap design does allow it to be used on your hamstring, arm or other wrap-able body part. It is comfortable even after extended wear, the heat will get you before any belt discomfort sets in. Overall a very relaxing easing soothing effect for those of us that stand for long periods of time or juts happen to have a sore lower back. Awesome product, your back will thank you.
