I did a lot of extensive research as I was going to Pony up 100 buckaroos for a gaming headset or perhaps a little more. I settled on these mostly because they wound up in a lot of top 10 lists. I was going to get Logitech because I really love the brand but I was sold on this one because of the reviews. Its important I think to let you know what my expectations were and my intentions.I do not do a lot of online gaming but thought I might soon. One of the big factors for this headset was the ability to hear sounds that are important in online gaming to help you locate enemies. More of an awareness of where they might be around you, to be more specific. I was wanting something to really immerse myself in the sound as I enjoy a lot of campaign games. I dont use the microphone since I do not play online games but I do like that it can detach if necessary. If I can ever be on when my brothers are on then that would change Im sure. So, I wanted to be immersed in campaigns with one of those being the Resident Evil games. The remake of two and three. I am also currently playing SpiderMan all the way through on the PS4 Pro and enjoy the headset with the crisp sounds, the busy streets. A lot of small details really come through in these things the drawback from me is that theres not a lot of bass, or rather bass to the level I personally like it. Doesnt feel as immersive this way. Theres no dial for volume and theres no dial for bass. The less than 30 Fukushima headset I had, if I pronounced that right, I liked a lot more because it had volume and bass adjustments sacrificing a bit of the crisper sounds but not by much. Sometimes I long for those.Perhaps it is because I specifically was getting a gaming headset and did not truly realize what the focus is on with these headphones. But the bass is not bad, I can still get an enjoyable experience but when Im in the mood for Epic Bass and those horror games Im just not getting it.Something that was really amazing is the options for ear covers. I used the default that is on them because I dont sit with headphones for a long time. On my day off I might have them on 3 hours or more once in a while and I am very happy to report that they are comfortable and I have yet to sweat in them. It doesnt really hurt my ears either. Other headphones, actually most of them, feel like they suction my ear hole which puts pressure on them and I cant wear them for very long. It ruins my hearing for a couple days sometimes. These headphones are lightweight and does not cause that for me, a firsteverIn summary, my intentions were to spend a hundred bucks or a little more on a better quality gaming headset that would allow me to be immersed in campaign games, especially the horror genre. I want crisp sounds so that I could tell what was around me a little better, and some nice heavy Bass. I was not looking for the best for online gaming to hear enemies around me although I would like that opportunity If Ever I did game online.Since this headset appeared on many top 10 lists, my expectations were high. I was pleased that the mic piece detaches although I have yet to use it, the sounds were crisp , headset is light, two sets of ear covers came with it , I did not sweat in them nor have Painful ears after 3 hours of gaming in them, and the bass is decent. It sounded good on both the Xbox One X and PS4 Pro. I only play games on consoles so dont know how they work on a computer but Im pretty sure theyre even more badass that way since they are surround sound headphones. The bass sounds good but I wanted more especially volume knobs for sound and one for bass which it didnt have. Even though I could not get that deep rumbling Bass this headset is good enough to keep for what I spent on it. If the bass was better it would be a total of five stars from me.

But there is a fix1. Download EqualizerAPO641.2.1.exe reboot after this step2. Download PeaceSetup.exe this is a skin that gives Equalizer APO a more friendly GUI.3. On YouTube search for How to fix HyperX Cloud, Alpha, Revolver Stinger microphone recording level ANY headset video. Follow the instructions provided in the video and you are off to the races. And just like that, the microphone is no longer on the Con list.PROSKudos to Best Buy for allowing me to purchase and return no less than five headsets during this grueling process. The sound is amazing given the 7.1 caveat above but with the APO Equalizer installed you can manipulate the sound profile for both microphone and speakers until your heart is content.Hands down the most comfortable headset Ive ever used they also give optional ear pads memory foam or pleather so you can choose which experience you like the most. This was a HUGE deal to me as I sometimes wear the headphones for 10 hours straight. Your mileage may vary depending upon your head shape and size. They are also comfortable wearing glasses and a hat.The cans adjust up and down to complete a perfect comfort level one highend headphone I tested did not have this feature which blew me awaySo very easy to setup which is a welcome change with regards to all of the headsets I tried out prior to this one read no huge file to install to program the headset like Corsair and SteelSeries headsets have. For you readers who just have to have a ton of RGB lighting youll just have to look elsewhere. But if you choose to use another headset for this one characteristic you are an idiot.Noise cancellation is good enoughAppearance is spot on. They omit the bells and whistles that other microphones spend so much time implementing and configuring.Microphone is detachable and comes with a rubber plug to fit into the hole to keep dirt out of the headset. This means I can detach the microphone and it looks appealing as a regular set of headphones for when Im working out at Planet Fitness. It works well with my Apple iPhone 8S I have a small dongle which converts the Firewire iPhone connection to a female 3.5mm jack. I simply connect the two and Im off to the races.Microphone is easily adjustable physically and stays where I put it. You will have to resort to trial and error to determine optimal placement of the microphone for the optimal pickup of your voice.Thats it ... buy them with the 2year Geek Squad warranty and you will not be disappointed. However, it is important to know that if you pass the 14day trial period and you did purchase the warranty, you can only exchange the headset three times. As I HIGHLY doubt youll get three bad units in a row it is important to know this. This applies to all Geek Squad warranties by the way ... three strikes and you are out.

Its now broken so I bought this HyperX Cloud II headset. I did so based on the reviews here and on some very popular tech channels on youtube, but Im very disappointed. The problem with headset reviews is you do not know if the person reviewing unless they specifically say so are on their first gaming headset or theyre buying a better quality one from their existing one. Put simply you dont know what experience the reviewer has with gaming headsets this means reviews are relative. On the plus side the HyperX Cloud II was very comfortable to wear. Its not heavy or bulky. I liked that it has both a 3.5m connector and a USB connector required for 7.1 surround sound so you can use it in different ways on your PC and you can use it with your MP34 player, phone, stereo, console etc. The problem is I only purchased this for gaming and I did so for the 7.1 simulated surround sound and thats where the problems start.I loaded up Rainbow Six Siege and Im in the basement on the plane. I hear the sound of the door breaking behind me so I swing around but there isnt anyone there, I swing back and theyre actually breaking through the door in front of me. Immediately after that episode I hear a sound in front of me so I keep looking forward but nothing there so I look behind just in time to see an enemy there. Basically the 7.1 simulated surround sound is terrible. On another occasion I could hear someone running but I couldnt pinpoint their location at all, I had no idea where this noise was coming from, worse still the noise was the same volume throughout, it didnt get louder as they moved towards me or lower as they moved away. Eventually the person popped out in front of me and I only knew they were there because I happened to be looking that way at the time not because the sound indicated that. Just very poor simulated surround sound. If youre having this problem too then I suggest downloading Dolby Atmos and trying it with that.Another issue I have is the volume. On my Razor Kraken I could only put the volume up to around 60 as it was just too loud beyond that for me. On these Im at 100 full and it still isnt loud enough. I can manage with it but I would really prefer more volume. Still its better than the Sennheiser PC 373D 7.1 which was truly dreadful on volume. Then we get to sound quality. These are very poor. There is very little bass, the sound is very tinny. The problem here is that you cant adjust the sound for the headset as its plug and play, there arent any drivers or software for it so youre stuck with the sound settings in Windows. Given this headset has its own built in sound board I would have expected supporting software for sound adjustment, but no.As I said reviews are relative and based on my experience these are very poor by comparison. My search for a quality 7.1 surround sound headset goes on. I may now have to try the ASUS Centurion.

On top of all that the headpiece itself is surprisingly rugged Made of a thick gauge metal, and while this makes them slightly heavy compared to other headsets i have used they are exceptional comfortable. The padded head piece and ear cushions make it feel like your barely hearing anything on your head. My admittedly large ears fit snugly into the cushions without any discomfort, and they even come with both leather and felt covered cushions. I havent used the felt cushions yet as i feel they will get too hot, but they are definitely soft to the touch. Sound quality is also quite impressive. I am no Audiophile but in my opinion the sound from these beats out all the other headsets I have owned. The true test can only be time for these, but with their rugged construction and obvious design for functionality and durability instead of convenience or needless features I have confidence that these will be my headset of choice for quite a few years to come.

I want to say velvet but it probably isnt ear pads If you use them for long periods of time Id recommend switching them out, I personally prefer the leatherette but they are equally comfortableDirectionaldetachable microphone has great range of motion and can handle being moved back and forth from in front of my face to out of the way for me to eat or drink without getting weak or falling out of the headsetComes with a great mesh bag to carry your headset, wires, and mic when you take your computerlaptop somewhere else to game.I personally dont use the headphonemicrophone jack adapter, but thats an option if you dont have enough USB ports.Great noise cancelling, but that can cause some issues, as I will explain in the cons portion of this review.Ear pads are extremely comfortable and I dont ever feel like my head is being squished after long periods 4 or 5 hour periods of competitive gaming.Great unboxing experience with the amazing red... honestly Id call it a case instead of a box. It feels like the headphones are being presented when you take off the lid and foam pad, rather than opening a box and there they are feel.ConsMicrophone doesnt feed back through the headset. Normally thats not a problem, but the people around me have told me that I get a bit unnecessarily loud when Im talking to a group of people in Discord, or giving callouts in game. I wouldnt know, I cant hear myselfHyperX doesnt have software for an equalizer. Now this is just personal preference, but for me its bass didnt have quite the punch I was used to from other headsets. But this was easily fixed by downloading a thirdparty sound program, boosting the bass a little bit, and now I wouldnt trade this headset for anything unless it was gold plated. With the sound cardUSB adapter, I find myself not using the headphonemicrophone jack adapter ever this is partially because those jacks on my PC are right next to my hand, so it takes up space. And the sound card built into the USB just gives me great physical control of my volume without having to get out of gameThe jack that the headphones plug into for the USB connector gets unplugged a lot mostly because I accidentally pull it when Im sitting on my couchIf you dont have a desktop, or dont have a desk to use, the wire for the headset is short, but the wire for the USB adapter is a bit long. Its a bit weird, but honestly Im sure you can just wrap the wire a little bit more than what it is out of the box and itll be just fine.Honestly most of my cons are just from personal preference wanting it to be a little different, or perhaps a unique problem simply because of my gaming setup. This headset is pretty fantastic, and all the issues I have, I have found easy solutions or fixes for except feeding the mic through my headset, still cant figure out how to do that. I didnt give this product 5 stars for two reasons the mic doesnt feed through the headset, so people tend to have to yell at me if they want my attention there isnt a HyperX software I could find to equalize the sound. When I tried to use my computers equalizer, it went through the USB sound card and it didnt change anything. This may not be a problem for others, but if those things were there or if I at least had the OPTION to feed my mic back through my headset, then I would give this 5 stars. Plus, 5 stars should be reserved for studio quality headsets, and this is great, but there are definitely better headsets but not for the price.
Ive been using a pair of Turtle Beach Earforce Seven for the longest time. It was always a hassle because the muffs were super big on me and I wear glasses. The extra muff would press the arms against my head and I couldnt wear both my glases and those headphones. With the Cloud 2 that is no longer a problem. Theyre small enough that theres no extra to press against my head.Next are the cups. Mine came with the leather cups already on which made me wary at first as thats what my Turtle Beach has. Pleasently surprised when I put them that again, there was no pressing and the leather didnt immediately make my skin start to sweat. I played a few hours with the leather cups on and when I finally switched to the cloth ones there wasnt much sweat and oil to see as there ... MoreIve been using a pair of Turtle Beach Earforce Seven for the longest time. I played a few hours with the leather cups on and when I finally switched to the cloth ones there wasnt much sweat and oil to see as there would have been with my Turtle Beach. The cloth cups worked just as well and I honestly prefer them. Between the two the leather seems to be more noise cancelling than the cloth as my friend said I was shouting a lot when I had the leather cups on.The weight of these headphones is fantastic as well. I played for well over five hours with them on and barely noticed them. That length of time I would of had to switch to earbuds if I was using my Turtle Beach ones. And even using earbuds for that length of time would have gotten irritating too. So defiantely a plus on how long you can wear them without really noticing them.I havent been able to test out the 7.1 capabilities of the Cloud 2 yet as Ive just been playing on my Xbox but based on what Ive seen already I have high hopes. Overall great pair of headphones though and I would definately recommend to a friend. Not only because of the performance but because of the price for said performance. Hyper X has made a supber set in my opinion and I look forward to what they give us next.
I have had this headset for about one and a half years now and I LOVE IT I have had absolutely no problems with it is certianly one of the best gaming headsets you can buy in the 50 headset 100 price bracket, I think that it was a great purchase.SOUND QUALITYThe sound quality from these headphones is great. I love listening to music on them and using them in games. This headset excels in games like CSGO where recognising the location of other nearby players due to their footsteps is vital. This is thanks to the 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound. This definitely gives you a competitive advantage over other players. It has a USB Audio Sound Card which you plugs into your computer, you then plug the auxillery wire into the mini controller which enables the 7.1 Virtual Surround Sound. Therefore, this headset is best suited to the computer. When using on a smartphone or a device that is not compatible with the soundcard, although you still get high quality stereo audio, it is not quite as good to the surround soud. In summary, the audio is fantastic and highly recommended for gamers.MICROPHONEWhen talking to friends on Discord or Skype, they never have a problem understanding me, it has good clarity. When testing it before this review on a voice recorder, although the microphone volume was set high on the control box, it was not that loud to be honest, you need to speak at a reasonable volume as it will not pick up muttering or quiet talking that well. It is still a perfectly adaquete microphone but there are probably better microphone alternatives out there if this is a major deciding factor. For me, the microphone is plenty good enoughQUALITY BUILDAfter receiving this product, I found that it came in a nice red box with HyperX printed on the front. A mesh bag is also provided, it is easy to say that I had the best unboxing experience with this product that I have ever had. On to the headphones themselves, the headset has a comfortable memory foam headband and has two different types of ear cups leather cups and foam cups. Although I prefer the leather cups as they feel premium and very comfortable, my head gets quite warm in them sometimes during intense gaming .The headset size is adjustable to fit all sizes of heads by pulling down the ear cups from the headband. Finally, the microphone is detatchable which is a nice touch, especially if I am only using them to listen to music although the cap that you can cover the auxillery jack with is very easy to lose.PRICE PERFORMANCEI think this is a great investment if you want to ramp up your gaming experience and listen to high quality audio. They are made by a reputable brand and I have absolutely no fault.I hope my review plays a factor in wether you buy this product, or not, or was at least helpful to you.
My idea of a perfect headset is one that is lightweight, comfortable, and provides an excellent balance of sound frequencies not too much treble, not too much bass, etc. This is actually my 2nd headset my first headset was a Sades A60, which I purchased because they were cheap but claimed to have 7.1 surround sound. Well they didnt furthermore, they were WAY too big for my head, they werent lightweight, they werent flexible, they made my ears feel warm after 30 minutes, and the inside padding wasnt comfortable at all.I started looking around for a headset that would qualify as my idea of a perfect headset, but still under 100 as I am a college student, I dont have much money in general. Thats when I stumbled upon the HyperX Cloud 2.I read numerous reviews, most stating that they were very lightweight hence the name Cloud, very comfortable, and provided a couple of handy extras which Ill get to in a minute. So I decided to take a risk and trust that the reviews were accurate. To make it easy for you guys, I shall list various pros and cons below.PROS1. Lightweight. And I dont just mean not heavy. This headset is so light that I dont even notice it on my head after a few minutes. It does not slow my head movement down whatsoever.2. Comfortable. The Cloud 2s come with two different types of ear muffs memory foam leather which I use and Velour fabric, which, while they are also comfortable, may itch after a couple of hours. The inside pad which the ear rubs against is also very comfortable and also feels like memory foam. My ears do not get warm whatsoever, even if I wear the headset for hours at a time.3. Sound quality Some people said in their reviews that in order to get the full 7.1 Surround Sound experience, you need to install some 3rd party software. I didnt have to. I just plugged my headset directly into the motherboard, pushed the 7.1 button, and I could instantly tell the difference in sound. In general, while it is a virtual sound, it definitely helps when playing games such as Call of Duty. The combination of the excellent balance of sound, the virtual surround sound, and the noise isolation allows for excellent sound whoring when necessary. That being said, I would advise to turn off the surround sound when listening to music it just sounds weird.4. Compatibility I mainly use this headset for PC, but apparently it works with Mac, PS4, and Xbox One an adapter is necessary for the Xbox. In addition, because the volumemicrophone7.1 control module box is independent from the single 3.5mm connector, I am able to use this headset for listening to music on my iPod or phone.CONS1. Microphone While the microphone is detachable, and does a fantastic job of cancelling out echos and extra noises that are not your own voice, not everything about this headset can be perfect. The audio quality of the microphone is mediocre at best. Its enough for other to recognize what youre saying, but thats really about it. Even my cheap Sades headset had a better quality microphone than this one. I have a little bit of a lisp, and this microphone seems to enhance the lisp overall the audio recorded from this microphone isnt crisp at all.Overall though, I cant remove one star rating just because of something that I dont care that much about. The combination of its light weight, how comfortable it is, and the sound quality is why I rate the HyperX Cloud 2 a solid 55 stars. I cant imagine a better headset for the price. In the 3 months that Ive owned this headset, I have had absolutely no problems with it. I would definitely recommend the HyperX Cloud 2 to anyone who is serious about gaming but doesnt want to spend more than 100.
The HyperX Cloud II headphones I will have two in total by the end of this hectic year surely have its ups and downs. Before you read my review in depth, please keep in mind that I amstill new to the whole PC gaming set up by multiple steps. meaning I am still researching PC gaming desktops, their specs, headsets and etc. The pricing on these things are pretty lucrative, but for those who really want to be immersed in their games, movies and TV shows, then these 100 headphones are just what you are looking for. There is a lot of research on the customers end, a little bit of educating yourself on how this stuff is madeworks that must be done BEFORE ever making a purchase. I emphasized this with my family members every time they want to buy any new piece of technology. It is no walk in the park but as long as you show the seller that you know a thing or 4 about what you are getting, the more the seller will respect you more as a customer and will be willing to help you on what you are really looking for. So here are my initial pros and cons of the Hyperx Cloud II gaming headphones and why I never want to spend that type of money on gaming headphones again. Because these are just semiperfect for meFirst, lets start with the cons. The sound quality is almost there for me. Its nearly perfect when listening to most songs I cant put my finger on it, but I can barely hear some effects during some movies, games and etc. Not sure if it is my laptop, the condition of my ears which are fine or my speakers When it comes to comfort, these headphones are kind of on the comfortable and uncomfortable side with me. The headhpones will fit anybodies head pretty well and the headset cushions are pretty snug. As for me, the cushions feel a little too tight around my ears and I have to keep adjusting them. Other than that, the comfort level is pretty moderate The sound card adapter is pretty useless to me. The headphones sound just fine without the surround sound feature The wire without the adapter is way too short and can be troublesome for some peopole, who happen to have their phone in their pocket without a case. Now for the pros. The mic quality is superb. The sound quality is pretty solid. Though improvements can be made if they were to make a Cloud III model The noise cancelling technology is a blessing in disguise when I deal with loud petsneighbors. The sound adapter is neat and quite innovative. Unfortunately, I need it in order to mute my mic or adjust the volume. That is a bummer. Lastly, even with its cons, I was motivated to buy another pair of these. Just wish they came in different colors of blue, purple, green and orange. So how would I improve the product The packaging could use some work. Taking notes from other cheaper gaming headsets with a pretty decent sound quality when it comes to having a mute option connected to the wire and etc. is a must. Perhaps if they tried a different piece of material, these could be the most comfortable headphones of all time. Or at least the top 10 or 50 Moreover, I would push for a retractable long cord. As far as innovation goes, I would put a speaker button nozzle on one of the sides of the headphones. Or at least attach it somewhere that still helps create the immersioncomfort zone of many gamerscustomers If I ever heard about the Hyperx Cloud III project in the works, I would push for the following simple innovations1. The ability to transform your headsets through detachable speakers. A somewhat durable and small headset within a headset That would be pretty cool2. Easier but durable packaging. Its time to innovative how products are packaged without the headache of using scissorsripping the box to shreds3. Let the headphones come with some small wired headphones. Take notes from Skullcandy4. A detachable wire. push for wireless headphones, but give customers the option to connect a headphone jack. I do understand that your more expensive headphones offer this option, but why not the Hyperx Cloud II headsets5. More color options. Its optional but why notHopefully, HyperX corporate receives my letter and understands where I am coming from. Furthermore, I wish them the very best in their future productshow they continue to bring joy and innovation to many customersgamers. These are the first and LAST gaming headphones that I will ever purchase. Hyperx. Thank you but please consider my suggestionsprices in the future.
This is a con! My husband has a headset by the same brand so I thought…why not? After over 30 minutes of hassling with the stupid things I first discovered that you cannot even use the headset without buying a sound license on some app and on top of that I couldn’t even get my Xbox to find the headset. I tried both ports, I plugged in the dongle by itself, the headset by itself and then plugged both in at the same time…NOTHING! This product is the worst headset I have ever bought! Save yourself the headache and do not buy it! I will be returning it tomorrow. What a waste.
