A little setup and I was on my way.After a few months, I have accrued a few guitars and basses and I'm seriously eyeballing another bass to add to the collection.Despite my expanded choices at home, I find myself reaching for this more than any other instrument (guitar or bass). The tones, versatility, feel, and looks just keep me coming back to it despite having more expensive and famous alternatives. It's fast and fun to play with just enough weight to it and the smaller body fits me perfectly. I don't think I'll ever outgrow this one and if I had to choose, it'd be the last bass I'd sell out of the ones I own.

It's a pleasure to play.The tone is great and so versatile with the 3 band cut/boost eq, the blend knob and the awesome power tap feature. It's so easy to dial in the tone you want.And finally, I love the Sky Veil Matte finish. I was originally going to go for the Weathered Black finish but decided to go for this one and I'm happy I did.Sure, there are better basses out there but for the price this is hard to beat. If your in the market for a new bass give these a look, you'll end up buying one too...Overall:So far I'm thoroughly impressed... love the wide range of tones I can get out this bass. The neck feels amazing, so easy to get around, makes my Fender Jazz neck feel bulky. I will recommend going to a local guitar shop to see the different colors on person. Once I saw the Charred Champagne burst in person I was sold, the pictures make the colors clash which the don't do in person.

With the 3 way tap switch, volume/tone/pickup splitter knobs you can get an amazing number of sounds out of this instrument, from floor shaking lows to twinkling clear highs. The color was nice, the neck felt good and the price was definitely right. It also arrived with a decent set up, not great, but better than many others I have seen, so as a retired guitar tech I lowered the strings a bit, tweaked the truss rod, worked on the intonation and it was ready set go! If only my callouses would come back that easy everything would be golden.I would definitely recommend this as a great beginner instrument, and also as capable of being a suitable gigging instrument.

I recently had a 370 SR model, which I absolutely loved and had no intention of selling or trading for anything else. However, after perusing at GC one Saturday, I saw the 300E model with the killer charred champagne finish, tried it out and was blown away! I guess you could say there isn't a whole lot of difference between that and my 370, however, it's definitely lighter, with the mahogany body compared tot he maple for the 370, plus it has the 3-way toggle switch, which gives you other tonal options. Maybe an oversight with the inspection, bad paint machine - who knows. But other than that, it was set up perfectly at the store - string height and intonation. I believe the factory strings are Ernie Ball, not sure, but I really like them. They remind me of my long stand use of the D'Addario XL 170's - balanced, crisp and punchy, but you can also get that warm P-bass feel with the EQ and with my Korg processor. Oh, and how many times have we all had a bass or two with a slightly dull E string? I have, and it's a treat to have one that actually sounds good! so yeah, we're not talking about a high end Spector, Fodera or Sadowsky here, but I tell you what - test out other high end basses with this, and I think you'll be shocked at how well this sounds for the money!
The only thing I don't like is the stupid battery. The connector the was so tight, part of it ripped off and now I have to do surgery every time I change the battery. The battery cover came off and I have to tape the battery in to bring it to life. It's like a big ole farm truck that eats gas. But I do love me an 85 Chevy Cheyenne Custom with a 404 big block. Once you do get it going, it's a beast and worth that inconvenience and well worth the price. Just be nice to the battery mechanism and make sure it's unplugged after you're done playing and you won't have those issues. Still, it is like a big truck. You're going to spend some money on 9 volts. I typically play 2-3 hours a day. I have to change the battery about every 3 - 4 days. I am adding to my reviews of august of 2018. I have had this bass over a year now and have had a few problems with it. 1) the neck is not correctly fretted. It goes sharp once you get to the 3rd fret. So I have to tune the guitar at the 3rd fret instead of open string. 2) The intonation of the neck is off and can't be fixed because the bridge is out of length. So tuning at the 12th fret is always off. The movement of the saddles is limited and it seems the bridge was placed to far forward by about 1/8" or more. 3) I have tried 2 different amps with this guitar and both vibrated and sounded like fret buzz on the D and G strings. The bass is overwhelming at times. I use a Fender Rumble 500 2-10 combo amp with the extension 2-10 cab. There is nothing wrong with the amp. It seems the electronics is producing the mid-range buzz sound. I have to turn off the treble, midrange, and some of the bass, plus I use only the front pickup and the power tap selector to get rid of the annoying sounds. I also have to cut the mid-range and treble on the amp. I will be taking this guitar back and exchange it for another one. But I will check the guitar very carefully before I walk away with it. I love playing this bass. Will love it more when I get it fixed.
Ibanez is one of the very few companies that makes an extremely affordable quality bass. I've played Fenders that cost 10x more that don't play as nice as this bass. I would prefer some different color options but for the price you can't go wrong. Ibanez necks are super comfortable and make faster playing so much easier. Their active EQ system is superior to all other brands that allows you to dial in on that specific sound you want. You won't be disappointed.
I gotta say, super impressed with the build and the finish. Ibanez has created a great instrument that's lightweight but carries some very nice features with the EQ on instrument and the PU selector. I think this is a very playable instrument and a steal for the price. Highly recommended for sure! Nice work Ibanez.
I am Loving my new Ibanez SR300E Bass. As a female Rock bassist, I needed to find a lightweight, slim bass that still packed a punch, and this baby does all that I've asked of her. Lovely deep tone, well balanced and responsive, the active electronics are on point, the lead stays put, and as for the colour... WOW! My husband, the drummer, is also really impressed at how well she locks in with the groove. Excellent delivery times from PMT, ordered on line and it arrived within 3 days. Very happy.
