I'll use this baby for my bluegrass and smooth jazz, working on buying a 6 string Modulus Quantum for when I wanna be like Jaco.

Great instrument, when I received it i tuned it up and began to put it through its paces. LoL All my basses already are strung with D'Addario so I was glad those came with them as standard gear so for me no need to restring ..I played a half dozen familiar songs and enjoyed every minute. No problem adjusting to the absence of frets to me thats the point of going fretless no lines no frets. Ample marking across the top of the neck. Lots of possibilities are in my hand as far as range and tone and various techniques . Cant wait to explore more

When I saw this was in stock at a local Guitar Center I decided to go in and play around with it. Had so much fun with it and liked the feel, sound, etc. so I decided to take it home with me. What really blew me away was the fingerboard extending all the way to the pickups. This gives me 10 more notes per string than my Fender. It's awkward to finger those upper notes because the "frets" are so close together up there. But that's just a matter of practice. Overall:My wonderful wife surprised me with this bass for Christmas. This is my second Ibanez bass and I am completely blown away and pleased with their products. The overall beauty of this bass is astounding. The carved neck/body joining is really well done and flawless. The woods and stains are exceptional. This bass is light, comfortable, and a real joy to play. It came set up almost perfectly with a straight neck and low action. The vast amount of tones possible with this bass is almost infinite. Between the neck pu,, bridge, pu, peizo pu, tone controls and eq I can generate almost any sort of tone that I desire. I won't say that this can emulate an upright tone, nothing really can, but it does create passable tones that sound good in a jazz environment.
A wonderful. eye- (and ear-) opening instrument.I've wanted a fretless bass for years, and finally got round to buying one - and what an instrument. It sounds, feels and looks great. It's been a lot easier to get used to than I expected and I keep picking it up several times a day to try things out.The range of sounds is very impressive, especially when I switch from finger picking to thumb to get a really fat, warm, double-bass type of sound.I can see me using this far more than my beloved fretted bass.

The neck which I have set up perfectly for the much sought after mwah sound the piezo pickup is the real game changer for me. That and just having the neck as straight as possible with minimal relief and a low action the through neck is gorgeous and the 30 fret fingerboard is insane it’s in tune way up there and yes I sometimes do play crazy high notes! The magnetic pickups are quite powerful and don't really need to be active for my use, and the active piezo system is off the charts. One bass with such a combination of pickups, tone possibilities are practically endless. This is the first fretless bass with an unlined fretboard that I feel truly comfortable with. Even more, this bass came with D'Addario flat-wound strings already on it, so I didn't have to change strings. It came out of the box already set up and ready to play. I play at church on the Praise Team, and I found out that playing with just the Piezo system works best in that environment, but you should hear this baby through a multi-effects pedal!

Over the years I tried to fall in love with a five string and well really never could. When I tried this one out first thing was the neck as Ibanez is known for was the thinnest neck I've ever seen on a five string bass. I love an unlined fretless and this was the best price point I saw for an unlined bass. The woods used in this baby are something else. The Bartolini pick ups are warm and with lots of overtones. I thought the Piezo pick up was going to be a lot less effective than what it is. In reality it really can be dialed in for great extra tones. Any way bottom line is that at this price ... Professional Musician, in a former period of my life, and not a professional bass player. My primary instrument is electric & acoustic guitar. I've recently started composing and recording and needed a bass that didn't beat my fingers up too badly. This is an amazing bass guitar! Impossible to describe the fun I've had since getting it. When I was playing live in the 80s, I treated myself to a handmade B.C. Rich Bich neck-through and have loved that sustain and tone ever since. This Ibanez didn't disappoint!
