Comfortable but cold

This shirt had a comfortable fit - not too tight, not too loose. However, I thought it would be warmer - in addition to wearing it outside, I hoped it would keep me warm sitting in the office and it did not. Also, it didn't seem to absorb moisture very well, and instead stayed damp thus making me colder. For me, this isn't the best cold weather layer but more of a fall/spring weather layer. I wish Icebreaker had more options for warmer, thicker layers.

I love the weight of this. It's stretchy and very warm. I wear it on its own a lot. And it's nice enough to wear out in cadyal settings. I've even worn it to the office with a nice pair of pants (it does have the Icebreaker logo on the sleeve). It's also excellent ad a base layer. Keeps me warm and dry when I'm doing outdoor activities in winter. I will for sure buy this again.

This is great except for the sizing. The top is quite big. I think IB could improve fitting with a lot of their range. I have a 40.5 inch chest, am 177cm and 75kg with a muscular frame (I'm a PT). I know I am more athletic than most but this makes me a 'large' by their guidance on the chest yet a medium is even too big. As far as their t shirts and base layers go I wear a small otherwise they are both far too baggy- base layers look like a sweater they are so loose. A small base layer is a good fit but still not a typical snug base layer fit. Given there are far shorter/ slimmer men out there than me and a lot of their products do not go smaller than a small I am surprised they haven't slimmed down/ shortened a lot of their products, especially as many people often ... MoreThis is great except for the sizing. One of icebreaker's best
22 February 2024

Absolutely love the tech 260, I wear one nearly every day in the winter. It has the same fit as the oasis but the material is a little thicker and I definitely notice the difference in warmth. Looks smart on its own - can wear for work or to a restaurant- but also great as a base layer when hiking or cycling. I am between an XS and S in icebreaker but as I prefer my clothes to be fitted I chose an XS. The cut is flattering and the material is good quality. Washes well and dries quickly. Mostly i only wash it after a week or two of daily wear because i feel i "ought" to and not because it looks or smells like it needs washing.

Product quality is poor

Over the years I have purchased many merino wool Icebreaker base layers. They have always been my go-to. I have recently bought several shirts and the strands are now so thin that after only wearing them one or two times they are getting holes. You can see by the image is it's a failure of the fibers. They are so much thinner now. I have another shirt from them that did the exact same thing after wearing it only twice. I have garments of theirs that are now 10 years old because we are very careful how we wash our base layers as they are very expensive. Only on gentle cycle, using Woolite laundry detergent, and hung to dry. However, their latest products are poorly made and very thin fibers that do not last. Repeat purchase
11 December 2023

I have bought this product many times in different shades and wait each year for the 260 version to appear. It is my favorite go-to sweater! Yes, sweater...I live in Arizona but I tend to be a person who feels cold easily. So I wear this as an outer sweater instead of an undergarment. I love the snug feeling of the cozy wool ( never itchy) and I love how shapely it fits. It washes easily and always returns to its shape and maintains its color. Great for morning walks or going out at night to a performance or a restaurant. It is quite flexible with the right pairings.

Very warm heavyweight baselayer

Big fan of this baselayer, it fits nicely and is soft to the touch. Seams are too rough or intrusive making it comfortable at the joints. Sleeves and body are relatively long for me which is welcomed as it's a baselayer so I want to tuck it into my pants / snowpants. Fits nicely under my midlayer, insulation, and shell for skiing. I plan to use it for traveling as well but so far just for skiing when it's really cold.I think the sizing chart attached to the product might need a mild refresh as there's XS in some products. Size small is described as 33" to 36" chest (there's no size chart for XS), I have a true 36" chest when relaxed and found myself between an XS and a S. I would say XS would be great for a 34"/35" chest. I ended up going with a S for a slightly ... MoreBig fan of this baselayer, it fits nicely and is soft to the touch. If this was the 150 or 200 weight I might've gone XS.

Warm, Soft, Comfortable
26 January 2024

I had been excited to try Icebreaker for some time now. The 260 merino is very warm. The set of the shirt and pants can be worn as a standalone layer under insulated snow gear. The Icebreaker set does not get too warm or sticky even in hot conditions. The fabric seems to not hold smell also. My only concern is the somewhat large amount of fuzz/lint that comes off the clothing. With semi-regular wear of at least twice a week during the winter months, I am curious to see how long the fabric holds its weight.

Warm, Soft, Comfortable, Durable, Great Quality
21 June 2023

Hi All, i've been using this pair of 260 Tech Merino base layers for about 7 years now. They lasted about 500 plus ski and hiking days in that time. They're soft, comfortable, durable and the quality is perfect. AND, they don't smell, even after all that time, haha. I've just bought my second set as I got a hole in the crutch and the collar got shredded by my neck stubble over the years. I'll keep using them for outside work in the cold though. Just bought the same product and hope I get another 7 years out of these ones. I highly recommend them. Worth every cent. Cheers, Marc
