I have three of these tanks, and they're absolutely the best in terms of fit, durability and comfort. I'm a solid medium in all icebreaker tops (42 chest, athletic build) including anatomica t-shirts, but I have a 31 waist and I buy these in small for a next to skin fit to be able to wear them under t-shirts in the fall & winter. Because they're tanks, the fit across the chest & shoulders is not a problem. I have never had one smell, even after several days of hiking or skiing. I end up changing into a new one and washing the worn one, but it always seems unnecessary :) The only downside is the extremely expensive price, so anytime you can get it on sale, it's a no brainer if this is the type of thing you're looking for. I've tried others, this is the best.

Exactly what I was looking for: warm underwear, that is a ‘real’ underwear: no sleeves and adjusted enough, warm, obviously, as it’s wool, but wicks moisture. The comfort is hard to explain; it just feels right, nothing else I have tried before feels just right like that. I tried them on and they’re not itchy at all, and I’m very sensitive. Icebreaker fit recommended XL based on my weight and height but I am half way between L and XL so since It’s a tank top, I took L which is adjusted but not tight. I’m glad I took L as I will always wear this under something else. If they were cheaper I would have bought more…I will wait for a sale and will buy more underwear for sure!

Years ago, when polyester was on the upswing in outdoor athletics I resisted but eventually caved preferring the natural fibers. I wanted to add another tank top for running in summer and went with wool and I think it will be great except I am wearing it all the time already. I like the higher wool content, and polyester for integrity to help it last too.

Everything feels n fits as advertised
24 November 2021

As the title says it is true. I'm a non binary femayle person n I prefer men's style of clothing. I was looking forward to getting and wearing this product. It does feel good. Wears well and I just started wearing it even though I bought it a little while ago. It started to get cold here and this is when I put it on as my first base layer. Been wearing it for a for a full week+ and all's good so far. My only dislike of the product is small and doesn't affect the performance of it. I do not like the way the tank is styled. The side top of the tank and the chest area is styled with a large scoop so that part of the side chest is exposed and seen from the front. Not a fan of this. I prefer a more traditional style of tank. Otherwise it is so far so good.

Looking for the lighter colour
6 January 2024

My husband wears it, not complaining, but I do the laundry and so much better than cotton singlets which take forever to dry and must seem so scratchy compared to the softness of merino. We have many other merino garments which we love. Hope to get some more in paler colours

Not as good as expected
3 May 2019

I already have five anatomica (3 ss crewe, 2 ls crewe). I bought this sleeveless to use as an undershirt. (The short sleeve crewe just wasn’t comfortable for that purpose. It felt too stuffy at the sleeve area when wearing with slim fit shirt.) This item, without the sleeves, certainly feels much better. However, the collar and cuffs can be seen through white shirts as well as light blue and medium blue shirts, even with medium thickness fabric. I decided to use it underneath another black merino t-shirt instead to boost the warmth factor. But even here, the outline of the cuffs can clearly be seen at the back because the cuffs are not very flat. The cuffs also doesn’t have elasticity and are loose & wavy - not stretchy and body-fit like my other anatomicas (unless ... MoreI already have five anatomica (3 ss crewe, 2 ls crewe). For the color, snow is a lot more yellow than I expected. Too bad I already cut out the tag. I see this item being used under looser fitting clothes with dark color. But in that case, I prefer my short sleeve anatomica. Or maybe it can be used to boost warmth outdoor when I don’t care much for appearance. If the odour free factor of merino is taken out of consideration, there are better options out there.

Not sure what it's for
27 August 2022

I will start by saying that the quality of this product is excellent - definitely up to the standard I would expect from Icebreaker. The material is high quality, comfortable, and seems durable and odor-resistant (mostly wool) and the construction seems solid. However, I did have some issues with the product. First of all, it is a very slim fit. I'm 6'2" 165 lbs with a narrow chest and shoulders and the medium felt too slim for me. I almost always find that shirts are too wide and too short for me, so I was excited about the prospect of a long and narrow fit. This actually went too far that way for me. The length was great, but it was tight beyond what I expected even after reading reviews about how slim fitting it is. The length was great, but it was tight beyond what I expected even after reading reviews about how slim fitting it is. Definitely size up if you don't mind the length. If I had gone a size up, I think it would have been too long. This tank is meant to be a next-to-skin fit and it achieves that well, even for a tall, slim build, which leads to me to my next issue with this product: what is its purpose? As a base layer (as the tight fit would suggest) it could work, but I wear a merino wool t-shirt or long sleeve as a base layer when it's cold, so I didn't find it useful that way and don't see the place of a tank top for that purpose. I'm sure many disagree and would find this garment useful as a base layer. I think it would probably work well for that. I had hoped to use it as a stand alone piece to wear when it's hot, but it doesn't make sense for that because it it's too tight and the material actually keeps you warm much better than it keeps you cool. So as a tank top for high output activities when it's warm it also didn't work for me. To sum up, it's a high quality product, very slim-fitting (with generous length), and not a piece I could see putting into use on a regular basis.

Pretty good, a little scratchy and expensive
14 April 2022

This is my first icebreaker tank top. I've been wearing a lot of organic cotton and/or tencel tanks the past few years (e.g. from Ten Tree). This fit is more classic tank / muscle top fit so I'm still getting used to it. It was a bit itchy at first - i've found that with IB's combo fabrics vs. their 100% merino wear. The itch seems to dissipate after wearing a few times. I'll see how it is after a few wears and 1 wash. I'm glad to have it but don't think it's worth $75 compared to the sustainable / breathable tanks I have for $30-$40.

Wins for lack of competition.
16 June 2021

It's merino, it's an undershirt, and it comes in a size smaller than medium. That's already impossible to find. I've looked.I couldn't get it in an x-small. The arm holes are as big as the waist hole - it's like they left the arm holes from the x-large and put on all sizes the hulk could fit his shoulder through there. If they did have an x-small, I hope they wouldn't make it too short. It is not ribbed, like most shirts this size, and is not stretchy enough to ensure it staying tight all day. These fitment issues are especially problematic because for merino to do it's moisture wicking job it has to be tight to the skin.
