iFi Audio GO Pod Wearable HD Bluetooth DAC + Headphone Amp

The audio on this brings out the best of my custom earbuds, probably also puts some of my regular DACs and headphonbs to shame - it makes the bass more pronounced while not drowning out the mids or highs at all. The fancy charging case with fuzzy interior and lights that turn on when the lid is open is a very nice touch.

Was sent a combo of the wrong adapters for an iFi Go Pod. It pushed my MMCX connector in on one and now the signal is noisy and connection is loose. I was told too bad, and it’s not their fault. While you could pass the buck to iFi, it’s sad. Especially since iFi did the same. I’m out an $800 pair of IEMs since out of warranty. Avoid HeadAmp at all costs.

I bought these mainly to see how they would work on stage while using IEMs and playing bass. To be clear, the company does NOT target musicians playing live. The latency is just too wild, so I went back to using the wire on stage. However, it’s a fabulous product, for anyone that has invested in expensive IEMs and might want to use them elsewhere, in our Bluetooth world. I have a pair of westones, cost me nearly 2k, and it’s truly a pleasure to now be free to use them in my personal time as Bluetooth receivers. Eventually latency will get better and better I’m sure. Wish I could use them on stage but that will have to wait until tech gets better.

I have them all. Az09 pro, utws3, utws5x2 and then these. These are the best. Given their price I was reluctant - but boy are they worth it. The FiiO’s are so finicky and buggy they’re more of stressor than convenient. While the FiiO sounds better than the kz Az09 pro - the kz just works with ease and is an easy rec for budget iems. The ifi go sounds great! Easy to use and the case battery lasts me like a week. I have them mated with the Mest mkii. Great pairing! Really glad I spent the money
Purchased from Audio46 in Spring of 2023.First, the pros:The go pods sound pretty good. No better than the Fiio UTWS5 in my opinion, but still good.Their 2-pin connector fits the recessed 2-pin port on my IEMs.Battery life (for both the pods and case) is strongWireless charging is nicecons:The fuzzy lining inside the case can get crusted with ear wax and is more or less impossible to cleanThe touch controls are difficult / impossible to deactivate. A drop of sweat can cause your volume to go to max, or to pause/play your source ad infinitumThe software (at least for iphone) is just awful. It's difficult to use and at least for me, completely ineffective. Features added from firmware updates would simply vanish (e.g. The ability to turn off touch controls as mentioned above)First set of go pods had to be returned as they stopped chargingA piece of the case broke off somehow with normal use (never dropped or abused)disqualifying:After about a year of use one of the pods simply stopped charging. They both developed a crack in the plastic which is clearly due to poor manufacturing. When I inspected the pod a piece of it literally broke off in my hand. When I contacted iFi they told me that it was out of warranty and if I wished, I could give them a bunch of money to maybe fix them or maybe not.conclusion:Save your money. At some point your go pods will break, and iFi will leave you holding the bag. If you really want TWS, go with Fiio, KZ, Shure, etc. If you want reliable bluetooth and can live without earhooks, go with a bt dac/amp that you plug an actual headphone cable into.
I can finally bring my end game IEMs around, use them for work calls, all with just one device. I previously would carry around my IEMs and case, a small DAC, various adapter cables for flights, and then a pair of Bluetooth IEMs for calls. Now I just need to bring my iFi Go Pod and an airline Bluetooth adapter and I'm good to go.The case itself is relatively large compared to Bluetooth IEMs - it's about 3X larger than the Mobile FoKus Mystique case. But in return it brings very long battery life and can accommodate larger IEMs like my Empire Ears Evo.Audio quality brings similar nuanced detail and range I would get with my desktop DAC. I care a lot about details but am not a gifted listener - so by my standards, it meets the bar.Connection quality has been fine. ... MoreI can finally bring my end game IEMs around, use them for work calls, all with just one device. I care a lot about details but am not a gifted listener - so by my standards, it meets the bar.Connection quality has been fine. I had an occasional issue with Android only connecting to one earbud instead of both, but it seems to be resolved when I wait until the buds are placed in ear before connecting.Microphone quality has been fine on calls. I was a bit concerned because the way I wear them, the microphones point towards the back of my head, but no complaints so far.The ear loops are fairly stiff and pulled the IEM out of my ear with my normally rock solid SpinFit W1 tips. I switched to Azla Senda Max and those have a slightly strong seal for me to keep them in place.Overall, really excited, expensive price tag but it's meant for people with even more expensive IEMs.Suggestions for improvements would be a smaller case with less battery life.
I bought the iFi Go POD + Meze Advar combo from HeadAmp. As many people/reviewers reviewed before, the combined sound was great to me. If I compare the combo with the wired Meze Advar, the sound quality of the combo was about 80~90% of the wired. I tested with AAC + iphone 11 and with AptX Adaptive + MacMini (by Sennheiser BTD600 dongle) both. AptX was a little sharper and higher resolution than AAC but the difference was not night and day. Go Pod sound was very dynamic and has strong power even comparable to independent portable amp.The wired Meze Advar has "V" shape sound with enough bass and good quality treble. For me, "LL" size eartips provided good balanced sound with the best sealing. I have a sennheiser IE900 as comparison, obviously IE900 has better ... MoreI bought the iFi Go POD + Meze Advar combo from HeadAmp. I have a sennheiser IE900 as comparison, obviously IE900 has better resolution and crisper than Advar, but Advar has it's own sound signature to provide enjoyable sound for musical appreciation. It's very unfortunate IE900 mmcx+ is not compatible with the provided mmcx adapters of Go POD. At any rate, I decided to carry as the combo for music listening, rather than switching between wired and wireless.I am very satisfied with the purchase. I may keep these combined units for a while for my music listening.
merging the boundaries between wired & wireless hi-res audio. The unit comes with mmcx & 2 pin connector making it compatible with most iems.Found best synergy with UM Mest mkii as a portable carry.Pros - LDAC codec making upto almost 90% of wired connection performance.Cons - PRICE.cheaper or mid range iems are not going to get much performance boost.Competetion - UTWS5 making worth at 1/3 price unless you own TOTL iems.
The best feature by far has been automatic impedance matching along with balanced amplification. After I first tried this with Moondrop Blessing 3, I thought there was a bass boost enabled by default. On another IEM, the mids were boosted. Turns out, the auto impedance matching function can change the FR on IEMs with variable impedance curve. This has effectively fixed the low end on the Blessing 3. The rest is 5/5: you get your money's worth. If you have multiple high end IEMs, this is the way to go.
Until about 2 days ago, I was completely satisfied using my FiiO UTWS 5s as my wireless daily driver.Anyone who has used them will know their overall quality (of course based on which IEMs you attach to them) as well as the few small issues that they present. Regardless, I have been satisfied with them. Then I got the new ifi go pods. And wow these are a whole different level. The clarity is stunning - ifi's claims about how they're different from the crowd prove to be true. The soundstage is wide enough to be comfortable and the bass is punchy without being overpowering.Of course the quality of the sound once again depends on which IEMs you pair them with. So far I have tried with the Final A4000, the Moondrop Starfield, and the ThieAudio Legacy 5, as I bide my time and save up to purchase either the Westone Audio Mach 60, Meze Advar, or Rai Penta. The reason I single these out is that these are the IEM combos that are being offered by ifi in Europe, and while the A4000s are doing decently - making me consider purchasing a higher-end Final IEM, the fit of the ifi go pods is slightly finicky. The were unbearable with the ThieAudios and wouldn't go all around my ear. I don't think this is an issue with my ear as much as that the design of the go pods makes them less ideal for all IEMs.I would advise going and trying them out at a HZ showroom, or purchasing them with one of the recommended IEMs to ensure a good and comfortable fit. The way they are designed mean they will not work with everything.Another small gripe is the size of the box, which can be a bit of a hassle, and is definitely not pocketable. Finally, the only other minor gripe: there is no dedicated app which is greatly disappointing. I hope ifi is able to rectify this from the software end.Otherwise, these demerits don't justify reducing the score of these excellent TWS adaptors for IEMs. The Bluetooth connection is reliable and the quality is excellent over LDAC.They will serve you better than any other TWS in ears (Sony, Bose, Jabra, etc included) unless you are a die-hard about noise cancelling (something you can mitigate by getting IEMs with a good seal).Long story short: Buy them!
