Having got my Home Studio start with the original iRig, this is everything I could ask for in an upgrade. Basically you're getting a beefed up yet lighter version of the Presonus Audio Box. This thing is compact, slick looking, and PORTS PORTS PORTS. Perfect for a one man studio on the move. Buy yourself an AC Adapter when going mobile and have no fears, it will not let you down. The only other complaints are that the bottom grips could be a little better, and the top appears to prone to scratches. With the stupid deal of the day, I got this for 70 less, and I couldn't be happier. When IK Multimedia adds support for 96kHz recording, as the original does, this thing will be a force to be reckoned with.

The iRig Pro Duo is delivered lacking the most basic element - a power supply. The power consumption on the two AA batteries is such that they are depleted within a couple hours of use. On the recommendation of the manual, I purchased a power supply exactly matching the specs recommended, yet it does not supply adequate power. Very disappointing to now have a product that will require many dollars per week of battery purchase and waste.

With so many ways to connect this device, it was not immediately evident to this amateur how I needed to connect to the iPad to get the audio in (you must connect the iRig Pro DUO to the iPad via the included lightning connector.) Once we learned how we needed to connect the device, then we had the problem with how to then provide power to the iPad. (We use the iRig to bring in microphones for live webcasting. The webcast is rather long so we needed to provide external power for the iRig as well as for the iPad.) Only after spending a lot of time on the IK Multimedia website, did I find another user recommends a 1-spot power adapter for the iRig Pro DUO. I found one on Amazon. First problem fixed. For the power to the iPad while using the iRig Pro DUO, another visit to the IK Multimedia website to learn of an additional piece of equipment sold by IK Multimedia: Power Bridge. Once we got those little issues resolved, we were satisfied with the device for the price. The gain buttons are a little bit inaccurate and it would be nice to have a numeric scale to help adjust gain. Again, for the money I guess we are satisfied. But do yourself a favor, if you purchase this to connect to an iPad (or iPhone, etc.), if there is any possibility that you will need to also provide power to your i device, purchase the Power Bridge. I was fortunate that I found the Power Bridge locally. Otherwise we would not have been able to use the iRig Pro DUO.

Really great sound. Quite, low noise. Great for any mobile device. Great preamps. Quality input and outputs. Compact and easy to use. Has a 9v DC adapter jack, but no AC adapter is included. If you are using this mobile with out a DC adapter, you are going to want to buy some rechargeable batteries. This thing drains them quickly. Expect about 3 hours of battery life. Plugging in the DC adapter does not charge your iPhone or iPad. To be able to keep your device charged you'll need to buy the power bridge power supply / adapter which is not cheap. For PC this device is not natively recognized as a ASIO sound card. IK Multimedia Support will tell you to find and install the ASIO4ALL driver on the web, which does work and resolves the issue, but is not documented in the manual. Having this info from the start would have been helpful as I almost returned mine.
i decided i needed an upgrade from the original iRig i purchased years ago, as i was starting to use some higher gain devices, and the cross talk that occurs with that was ecoming an issue. got the pro duo home and realized i didn't have the cable i needed, but that's just dumb me. Of course i wouldn't need to order a cable if they didn't insist on speical cabling. so i hooked it to my iPhone which just happened to have the right end. hooked two mikes (which unfortunate for me need phantom power). It was then I realized that phantom power is not provided through the iPhone power. It appears that other devices may support this, potentially even android devices, however, I don't know how long they will stay charged. So if they really want this to be as portable as they say, they need to re-think the batteries. The other small issues with it are the level controls; the level indicators are fairly coarse - you get three levels blue green red. in practice it works okay. one other small issue is the gain knobs - don't know which way is up and which way is down - real esay fix. other wise I am very happy with it so far. the box seems well put together, all the connection points are solid, and it packs a little heft. I mostly have fooled around with garage band so far, but I did bring up amplitube for a bit in trying to test out my connections. in both apps it's a little hard to know that you are actually connected to the interface. So my first read on this product is that it's prettry solid
The iRig Pro DUO is a nice interface. It does what IK Multimedia says it will do. I was able to record two tracks (Guitar and Vocals) at the same time into Garage Band. The sound quality was good. Especially for an interface that cost me $. Just don't go too high with the pre-amp. You'll start injecting noise. Keep it as low as possible for a clean recording.Three things I didn't like. One, battery life. I felt it was amazingly short. I got the first red bar after about 40 minutes of playing. I doubt I would have had more than an hour and fifteen minutes total recording time. You definitely want to use rechargeable batteries. So include that in the cost of purchase. Of course you can use your laptop for the power source or plug it into the wall. Of course you can use your laptop for the power source or plug it into the wall. But that defeats the purpose of buying a portable device. Two, very cheaply made. I wouldn't want to drop it. But, for the price, your not going to get a metal chassis. Three, the knobs for each channel were difficult to adjust. This is a high gloss interface with high gloss knobs. My finger was sliding across the knob instead of rotating the knob. The second channel was a bit stiff. I had to really press down on the device to rotate it.I would not spend the full $ for this item. For $, it's a good deal. I returned mine primarily due to the short battery life. Check it out. But wait for a sale.
I got unit for conference phone in for backup plan but no go. Seems like an easy Irig/ Apple resolve. Unless this is fixed probably will never use it. Irig should put that fact on info pages. I've recommended it for several churches that have phone in services for their shut Ins. Glad they didn't take my advise. So money down the drain unless I can return it.
This unit is a bit pricey considering you can get a 2 channel DAW for less. BUT this is very portable and very easy to setup. I purchased this hoping to forgo my vocal/guitar effects boxes. While it works well with the iPad it isn't very reliable with the iPhone. It comes with Amplitude but the software is very limited with only a few amps/effects for free and very annoying with pop up ads to sell you more. Amplitude with an iPhone 6SE is very noisy, not good for recording. I found that GarageBand effects/amps sounded much better than Amplitude. This is a good portable recorder that is easily carrried/setup. The body is plastic but feels pretty solid.
I don't know how to begin. I've had sooooo many issues with this thing. It's not plugin play for Windows 10.You have to download a third party sound driver, and try to figure that out. It says it works with TRS cables. It doesn't. The battery drains extremely fast, even when plugged in my laptop. It's not suppose to. It's suppose to run off the laptop, when plugged in. (According to the IK website.) I've spent about 6 hours trying to get this thing to work. By the time you get it to partially work in Windows 10, the batteries die.I've only gotten it to work partially, with a lot of background noise and it cutting in and out on TR cables. I thought I found light, easy to move interface for my laptop. I was wrong. If you want to save yourself some heartache, just ... MoreI don't know how to begin. It's plugin play for Windows 10 and whole lot cheaper, A lot Cheaper! And no batteries required
An otherwise ok digital interface is marred by proprietary DIN port for USB interface to host, which requires proprietary DIN-to-USB cables, and proprietary plug interfaces for MIDI that require adapter pigtails to the standard MIDI 5-pin DIN connector. The cables that shipped with our iRig Pro DUO are far too short for most uses at just 2ft. That means the DUO has to be strapped to a mic stand or tripod every time we use it, and we have to pack all it's proprietary adapter cables everywhere we take it. Sound metering is also poor compared to other comparably priced digital interfaces. Having used the iRig DUO with iPhone Pro 11 Max and iPad Pro 3rd Gen and iPad Pro 4th Gen for our video capture projects, I prefer the bulkier Motu M2 and M4 for their superior sound ... MoreAn otherwise ok digital interface is marred by proprietary DIN port for USB interface to host, which requires proprietary DIN-to-USB cables, and proprietary plug interfaces for MIDI that require adapter pigtails to the standard MIDI 5-pin DIN connector. Sometimes bulkier is better when there are no weird adapter cables to lose or break. If you work with sound at a desk, and never have to switch between Apple Lightning and USB-C hosts, and you have an external way to meter your sound input, then the iRig DUO does deliver clean A-to-D sound conversion.
