This cart is super sturdy and easy to assemble. There is enough room on the cart to display my stainless steel cookware. The lids slip nicely between the slats for vertical storage. My knives are in one drawer and cooking utensils are in the other. I use the top as extra counter space for meal prep.

I have bought two Forhoja carts so far. The first was four years ago and we really liked the design and shape and color. I also bought the special oil for surface treatment, as recommended in the manual, and applied it to all surfaces of the product. Unfortunately this was a big mistake, as the oil has to be applied only to the top surface, not to any other part. The manual was really unclear and misleading about this . As a resutl, the drawers were sticking to the body all the time, creating extra friction and wouldn't move smoothly. Recently we moved to a new province and bought a new one, which is exactly the same old product. The manual was still misleading. I think the compartments are really practical as a kitchen cart. Probably adding a few small hooks to hang some stuff may make it even better. There is also room for more robustness in joints. I put a breadmaker on top of both carts and after a couple month, both carts lost their robustness, as breadmaker creates a little bit motions and the cart is not strong enough to resist that little oscilations.

Built it alone, very pleased with the finished product. Got the one in white but its not on the website anymore. Some details were missing during assembly and I had to start over some steps that weren't super clear, but still worked out. The wood panes for the two bottom shelves aren't perfect, I saw some have hard edges and splintered wood, tried to use the sharper ends on top so they looked better, in the end that turned out well. But pushing them all in was impossible and there are some tiny gaps where you can see that they don't fully touch the sides, I think the measure just isn't as precise as I expected and the cart is made a bit larger than those panes. In the end everything holds together and it looks really good so I'm pleased, just took a bit longer ... MoreBuilt it alone, very pleased with the finished product. Great prep and service cart
24 February 2023

This kitchen cart is a great addition to my kitchen adding counter space for prepping and serving food. The quality was good. We added more urethane finish to the top. I suggest IKEA make it with four wheels. We cut the two off and added four swivel casters so I can wheel it anywhere. Love it.

One of the hidden gems!

I purchased this over 4 years ago now and it's a real workhorse! The Mr. dislikes IKEA furniture but has admitted he's extremly impressed with how well this cart has held up as our coffee station and breakfast storage. I applied a custom distressed paint finish and glaze to the bottom. The top was finished to look like old reclaimed wood with a mix of early american and walnut stains, beat up with chains and nails embedded before putting it all together and applying the oil based topcoat. I did put 3 coats on the top since we aren't clean freaks so I knew there would be times that spills weren't cleaned up right away and I wanted to avoid any warping or water damage to the wood. Over the years we had a coffee maker start slowely leaking water around the base which we didn't notice for at least a week! The top doesn't show any signs of this happening and even with hot pans, cups, and our new coffee maker it still looks as good as the day we brought it into the kitchen. This is by far my favorite IKEA purchase of all time and I pray that they never stop making it out of solid beech (like the discontinued butcher block countertops that now have particle board as the base). If your even considering this cart I highly recommend grabbing one before the construction changes, it's a steal for such high quality and solid wood construction!

Our favorite thing at IKEA
15 July 2022

I cannot say more. It is the best thing. It turned a studio apartment into an apartment with a kitchen. It brought our family together. It made friends with my father in law. It saved Christmas. Everyone loves it. It started dating a famous actor purely because of its charm after the famous actor came into its bookshop on Portobello Road. It is our favorite thing at IKEA.

Perfect for what we needed!
5 March 2019

I bought this because if lack of kitchen counter space. Made preparing meals, baking or kneading very difficult on our Formica counters. We recently moved from a bigger house and did not anticipate how much stuff we really had in our previous very spacious gourmet kitchen. We knew beforehand that everything would not fit but did not anticipate such a lack of counter space. This works out perfect just for baking and extra storage for all the tools required to do the job. I love the small drawers for Christmas cookie cutters and other things that aren’t used very often. We store the mixer attachments and other small items that are used pretty regularly but not used everyday in the storage bins. It really was a great functional purchase for us!

Perfect size
26 May 2020

We needed something for storage in our VERY small kitchen and this cart is perfect. We just needed a place for our microwave and coffee maker and other kitchen odds and ends. It looks nice and not bulky and its nice and open and makes things easily accessible. The quality is nice too. The only thing I dont like about it is the drawers have nothing to stop them from falling out if you pull them out too far. This would be fine for use as an island though because you can open the drawers from either side of the cart. Im sure we can find an easy fix for this issue. Otherwise, its very nice, perfect for what we needed.

Perfect, is an ideal addition to a studio
11 June 2023

I added this to my studio to seperste the kitchen space from the rest and it works like a dream. I know refer to it as my “peninsula”. And it’s super easy to move around the space, so if I’m having people over it’s easy to open up the kitchen. Great add, would highly recommend

Very disappointed
30 May 2019

I bought this a few weeks ago and I've officially just given up and changed plans for it. I love the size, shape and versatility of the piece. My initial plan was to stain it a walnut color. I followed the included instructions for removing the oil and sealant. I tested my stain on a small piece and it barely accepted the stain. I figured that I hadn't removed enough of the finish following their instructions, so at the recommendation of a man at home depot I bought a deglosser and used that. It appeared to work, but still did not accept stain. I tried citristrip, which is my go to finish stripper, still no stain adhering. My last resort was sanding and a wood conditioner...the stain has adhered slightly better. But it's not at all close to what I was expecting. The stain isnt the culprit, it works perfectly well on all other scrap wood I have and moderately well on the table top. I've seen many people have stained this piece from browsing pinterest, either mine is faulty or they've changed the material and it's no longer solid wood.
