Good desk - just not fit for gaming.

The Fredde "Gaming" desk unfortunately does not fit a typical gaming PC case. The monitor shelf - while a great idea - prevents the PC from being placed on top of the desk, and there is not enough height allowance to place it on the under-shelves that it seems are intended to hold the PC. This is an enormous design flaw, for something advertised as a "Gaming desk".It is also overall too low to be truly comfortable - especially with any of the popular/higher end gaming chairs. I also wonder if the height allowance for the monitor would fit much above a 32".The upper shelves are really strangely affixed - no screws hold them or anything. If each section was raised 5 - 10cm in height, and the upper shelves fitted in a more sturdy/secure way, it would be pretty much perfect for gaming. Now, it's just a well thought out, but poorly executed attempt.

This is an excellent desk, but only if your setup happens to fit well with it. Support for larger or multiple monitors is rather limited due to the lack of space in the display area, and the design of the table hampers the ability to use VESA mounting arms with clamps unless they're attached to the front of the desk. The two small areas below for mini towers is also limited in size, and would ideally only support a micro-ATX case comfortably - my full size ATX case (NZXT Noctis 450) does not fit underneath, and has to reside on a separate table. That said, the various features of the desk are simply outstanding. It's a great desk, but only if your gear fits within its limited confines.

It won't fit a gaming PC, Extremely limiting design
28 August 2024

The shelves to hold your PC only have 18.5" of usable height, and it limits you to an IO panel/power switches located on the front, only. There are very few gaming PC cases on the market that fit those requirements. Almost none if you want to use a full-sized motherboard and want an external drive bay. This desk was not designed to fit a gaming PC. that space will work for a pre-built midtower office PC, but not much else. Pre-built gaming PCs are usually full sized now, so they usually won't fit. You could remove the shelf and put the PC on the floor, but that shelf seems structurally important. It is frustrating and thoughtless that they just didn't design the shelf to be a few inches lower. It seems like there would have been plenty of space. I do not think the designer of this desk is familiar with (or cares about) what functionality "gamers" need. Also, it turns out the hutch design is also extremely limiting if you want ultrawide, vertical, or multi monitors, or cameras.

Love it

We bought this desk for my husband after much consideration and searching. He does some PC gaming but also needed a proper workstation. So many desks on the market right now seem to be either very minimalist laptop tables, classic-style wooden desks that look great, but are pretty pricey and less functional (unless you buy storage add-ons), or super expensive professional executive corner desks that are way more than we need. For us, this hits the sweet spot of form, price, and function. He really liked the desk already in store, and once it was built at home, he is fully in love with his new command station. It is a functional, sturdy beast, and the all-black style matches all our PC peripherals. For us, this hits the sweet spot of form, price, and function. He really liked the desk already in store, and once it was built at home, he is fully in love with his new command station. It is a functional, sturdy beast, and the all-black style matches all our PC peripherals. Pros: -Customizability - all the shelves can be arranged like you want, or left off completely. Plus you can place the PC tower on either side (with the other shelf then becoming storage), which is perfect. -Size - it's not a small desk by any means, but not massive either. Perfect work surface size to have both the PC peripherals but also room for papers. We have the one shelf down low a few inches above the surface, which acts as a monitor mount, spot for speakers, etc, and this frees up space under the shelf for papers and other small items. The little notch at the front allows you to lean in further when you want, and the height is good for a keyboard for both of us (I am 5'9, he is 6'1). A petite person might feel a bit overwhelmed by such a desk, but for a larger guy like him it feels like it fits him well. -Quality - The desk is super sturdy and high quality, very well-designed. Feels solid and not cheap at all. Took him and his dad about 2 hours to build. -Design Touches - lots of small details that are icing on the cake, like the little knobs for your headphones, dual cup holders, cable-routing holes on *both* sides (this is surprisingly hard to find). Cons -Cost - costs more than a simple laptop desk, but well worth it in our view. -A bit hard to build with no text, only images (but this is the case for almost all ikea furniture) Note - the boxes (there are 2) are pretty large, they *just* fit in our small hatchback with the seats folded down, and stretched across the whole width of the car side to side. I don't think it would fit in a sedan where the seats don't fold flat or the opening between the trunk and back seat is not the full width of the car. So if you have a smaller vehicle, be sure to measure.

Nice desk and my experience with assembly
15 June 2024

I bought this for my media room and it is perfect. I read a bunch of the reviews and was concerned with assembly. However, it really was not too bad. I think the confusion may be because the lower shelf can go on either side. Several steps repeat to show you how to install the shelf on the left or the right. My only gripe is that I could not find the information about the shelf going on either side anywhere before purchase. I wanted the shelf on the right and there were no pictures or information stating that it was interchangeable. Thankfully it was and the instructions pointed that out. If you are looking for a desk this is a solid buy.

Perfect gaming desk!
12 May 2024

My son wanted a bigger gaming desk. This fit the bill perfectly. It’s wider than a standard desk and a little deeper too. With the addition of the shelf underneath and the monitor shelf on the top, you can really maximise the space. It looks great too. My son is very happy! The only negative would be it would have been better to include two shelves for underneath rather than just the one, but that’s a minor gripe. Overall it’s a fantastic desk and any teenager would be thrilled with it.

Solid and very spacious
6 April 2024

Very sturdy & there's plentiful space for my work laptop & my PC with a few monitors. Would highly recommend for any home office. Not the easiest thing to assemble - it's definitely a 2-person job - but it's worth the effort. The desk surfaces are quite heavy so be careful! The drink holders are a nice touch - they fit a standard 330ml can of pop. I like to put my coffee in a flask which fits this holder perfectly. The little 'dip' in the middle is nice so you can pull yourself right up to the desk and rest your arms at either side. It's worth noting that I had to take the arms off my swivel chair so I can pull myself closer, but that's just personal preference on my part.

The longer I live with this desk, the more I hate it
23 August 2024

I bought this desk as a music production workstation. I liked the side shelves for speakers at ear height and the 2-tier main surface for monitors directly above recording gear. It was VERY difficult to assemble. Over time I have come to HATE a lot about it: (1) Main surface is a few inches higher than standard, and none of my office or gaming chairs go high enough to sit comfortably. (2) Central cutout where keyboard would go is exactly the opposite of how I like my keyboard placed. I want my keyboard practically in my lap, but on this desk it is physically painful to type because the keyboard is too high and too outstretched from me. (3) Highest shelf is too high to put another monitor or TV up there, I tried it but couldn't see it without painful neck craning. I ... MoreI bought this desk as a music production workstation. best gaming desk across the board.
28 January 2024

I use to build and design my own desks. but I recently moved to an apartment and I needed something that will cater to my gaming needs. having a modular shelf system really drew me closer in to purchasing Fredde gaming desk. Build quality is great! sturdy and doesn't wobble. It's quite pricey but once you assemble and finally get to use it. the price actually make sense. I'll upload some videos on Youtube for an update soon! watch out for the IKEA shoutout!
