After styling a small spare bedroom we needed bedside shelves to sit under some wall sconces . These where exactly what we needed size wise. What we didn’t need was the appalling workmanship. We ordered two in which one was damaged by courier but both had corners not centred and chips from poor workmanship . I requested a replacement for the courier damaged one only as it was totally unusable . The replacement also arrived with a chip from poor workmanship. So disappointed that all our hard work renovating our guest room has been diminished by Ikeas poor wuality control. Do not order this product online as each item needs to be checked for faults prior to purchasing .

I was surprised to find an Ikea product that does NOT come with the screws you need to mount this shelf to the wall so beware! I assume they decided not to include all the hardware you need based on if you mount to drywall with anchors (terrible idea for a shelf this big), wood screws for joists (absolute requirement for this shelf) or concrete screws/anchors for brick/concrete walls (probably not too many people doing that). I had to go out and buy some screws and figure out how many I needed - the instructions say 8, I used 6. As others have mentioned, the holes for the mounting plate do not align with any North American standards for joist distances so I also had to go buy a drill bit so I could drill my own holes. I found that centering it on my wall allowed me to cross 3 joists (2 of which the holes aligned with). Drilling 2 more holes let me screw the plate securely into 3 joists - with that done, there's really no point in adding more screws on the ends of the mounting plate. The shelf was also very difficult to slide onto the mounting plate poles - you definitely need another person to help as the poles move around and don't align as well as I hoped. Overall, it looks great when it's up but it's a lot of effort to get it there! It looks great with LED lights below it (not quite enough room to put them between the shelf and the wall).

They were very easy to install and look very beautiful. We were careful to place them on studs, used all the screws, and made sure they were sturdy. Unfortunately, they did hold up over time and slowly start inching forward if you put anything remotely heavy on them. In my case, a couple of books were enough to start weighing them down. Will have to buy brackets to keep them flush against the wall, which defeats the purpose of buying floating shelves.

I’m not sure when ikea started not including all the hardware, but they are about to lose this customer. I purchased these shelves and didn’t know that the screws were not included until I OPENED the box preparing to put them up…. Why not include the screws and washers etc with the brackets? That information should be on the front of the package so that customers know! Bad move ikea.
These are basically hollow core doors. Good for lightweight items. They are very light and easy to mount to the included bracket.I gave it three stars for the mounting bracket. There are lots of holes on the mounting bracket, but the holes do not line up with standard US construction 16 inch on center stud spacing. I had to drill out two of the three holes to anchor it to studs behind the wall. Not terribly difficult, but will take some time drilling through metal. Also a bit frustrating looking at a dozen other pre-drilled holes that aren't spaced for US construction. Also, no screws included to mount the bracket to the wall, so don't forget to pick those up at your big box home store while you are out. I used 1.5" cabinet screws which have a flat backed washer ... MoreThese are basically hollow core doors. Good for lightweight items. The LACK floating wood-look shelves add a great aesthetic to my family room. They look like actual wood and are sleek and stylish. However, they did not come with screws. We had to purchase our own screws, only to find the ones we purchased weren’t the right kind because the shelf wasn’t sturdy enough. We then had to take the shelf down, put anchors in the wall and re-hang the shelf. It’s still not 100% flush with the wall but it’s close enough that we’re going to leave it up. Won’t be putting any heavy items on it for sure.
This comes in two parts. The metal bracket which secures on the wall and the shelf itself which attaches to the bracket. The bracket is relatively straightforward to attach on the wall. I used some plasterboard screws which I already had (these screws are not included). The problem with the product is that I found the shelf does not actually fit securely to the bracket. There is a bit of a wobble and a downward lean. There is not much you can do about that apart from using some sealant to cover the gap. Its in my sons room so we are going to stick with it but I wouldn’t tolerate that look if it was in a living room.
These shelves were really easy to install! I was able to put 3 shelves up in about an hour and a half, and I did that on my own- it would have been easier and faster with another person. It's been a few weeks since putting them up, and I've since put enough objects on the shelves to fill them. The shelf feels very sturdy, and is able to hold the weight of a few heavy books without any wobbling or tilting. As with the smaller LACK shelf, the hardware is not included, but this shelf allows you to mark holes where the hardware should go. The two included screws allow you to screw the wood of the shelf to the metal hardware, which helps it feel even more secure. The shelves look nice as well, with no visible hardware except the screws at the bottom, but even those are ... MoreThese shelves were really easy to install! I am obsessed with the look floating shelves give. I have always wanted some. I’ve looked at floating shelves at hardware stores like Home Depot and Lowe’s but the reviews are always terrible. This made me scared to actually get floating shelves.Nonetheless the good reviews on these convinced me and I bought four of them. I have two above my bed and another as a vanity desk. The other is above my television. They look so nice and are STURDY. I used drywall anchors to ensure they were mounted correctly and these things do not budge. They look amazing too. I plan on buying more.
I have easily assembled dozens of IKEA products, but I just spent over an hour installing two of these shelves. This newer design is absolutely ridiculous. So much measuring and drilling and re-drilling just to get it so that I ended up having to install L-brackets underneath to support it. Not matter what we did, it was never exactly flush against the wall. The old design of, like the larger ones, having one mount with the pole through the middle made it a 2 minute job. I’d rather pay an extra $10 to not have to go through this misery. $100 worth of aggravation for $15. Worst product I’ve ever purchased
