I purchased 3 for home office use. After 3 years of regular home use the plastic of the arm assembly (connects the seat to the back and provides the arm rests) broke on one chair. I'd replace the parts (they just bolt on), but the parts are apparently not available for replacement. At the time of purchase they were good value, but I didn't expect them to become unusable through normal use. I'd give them a QUALIFIED approval, but not if you intend frequent use. I'd also second the comments from other reviewers that the material can be damaged relatively easily.

Good price, but not comfortable for me

I was happy with the look of the chair and seemed ok in store. Was happy with the price drop. But, it truly is not overly comfortable, the seat does not seem flat, the fabric puckers and does not maintain shape. The arms wable, despite multiple attempts to adjust. I want to take it back, but not sure I will get it disassembled. I'm disappointed and feel rather stuck with it. I'm sure they will say I assembled something wrong. It may be comfortable for some people, but it is just not right for me.

This is my 2nd office chair from IKEA; the previous one lasted almost 15 years and was happy to see it continues to be in stock. Just a good, solid task chair, very comfortable. You'll want to keep the wrench since it needs a regular tightening of the screws as the chair adjusts to you and your movements to keep squeaking to a minimum; of course, IKEA has a place to store it on the inside back of the chair. Only issue was wishing the armrest filling was firmer but not a deal breaker.

Great chair (but armrests are very far apart)
19 June 2024

I got this chair recently. Absolutely chic look with its leather, especially at such a low price.Compared to the more expensive IKEA office chairs, this chair has only two adjustment options: the strength of the swinging mechanism, and the height of the seat. All other adjustments and shapes are fixed to a kind of default position that nevertheless feels good on my back and helps with a good posture. The only downside I see is the distance of the armrests from each other which is fixed to 50 cm (20in). This makes the armrests probably best suited for people with very wide shoulders. Enjoy!

Love the quality for the price!
18 March 2024

I needed a new chair since my old one felt as if I was going to fall over backwards in. I sat in pretty much every chair in IKEA and settled on this one. I'm not disappointed at all! It's a firm cushion, but feels like it supports extremely well. My lower back appreciates the way it feels as I sit back in it since it feels a supported instead of being sunk into the cushion on some of the soft chairs. It feels as if it's a great quality chair. The wheels automatically lock unless you're sitting in it for that slightly added safety of sitting in a rolling chair that might go out from under you, so that is also nice. Easy to assemble! I would definitely recommend this chair!

Low quality of chair material - the material of the chair peels off quickly
16 December 2024

We bought a chair MILLBERGET in Ikea on 08/08/2022. A little more than 1 year later, the armrests of the chair began to peel off due to the poor quality of the "faux leather" material. We put up with it, but after 1. 5 years, the material of the chair seat also became thinner and also began to peel off, the chair acquired a very unsightly appearance and spoils our interior. When filing a complaint about the quality of the coating to Ikea, only on the basis of the photos we sent, they claim that we improperly used the chair. At the same time, the chair was used no more than 3 times a week and only during working hours by one adult to work on the computer. The question is, how else can you use a computer chair, what is improper use. Or is it forbidden to sit on these ...Β MoreWe bought a chair MILLBERGET in Ikea on 08/08/2022. I do not recommend this chair to anyone, only if you want to throw it in the trash in a year.

Major Design Defect
14 November 2024

I bought this chair online for my home office earlier in July 2024, along with many other items. When I assembled it a month later, I realized that there is something wrong with the dimensions and design of the chair. It's inclined forward, It doesn't recline back. The seat is too short. I usually buy my IKEA stuff in-store to avoid similar situations. Now it's been more than 3 months, IKEA wouldn't replace it or exchange it. I threw 200 CAD down the drains.

Not a replacement for the old MALKOLM
18 January 2024

I bought the MALKOLM several years ago, and wanted to buy another. The MALKOLM is no longer available, but the MILLBERGET *looks* the same, so I bought it. Appearances are deceiving – even though the measurements are very similar, this chair is NOT as comfortable as its predecessor, always feeling like the back of the chair is "pushing" you forward. (And yes, I know how to release the lock and adjust the spring.)I will say the ONLY things better about the MILLBERGET vs. the MALKOLM is the gas lift does go a little higher, and the upholstery is improved on the armrests (though the "forward push" of the chair makes the armrests rather useless for me).I will be returning this and looking for something else.

Peeling
17 September 2024

I purchased this chair sometime in 2021, maybe early 2022 for $130. The coated fabric on the armrests started to show signs that something was wrong within the first 6 months. Over the next year, it began peeling and turning into a plastic like "wrinkle". Currently, I am looking for something to re-cover the arm rests. The rest of the material on the chair held up well, as did the cushion. The height adjuster has it's moments when you sit in it, it goes straight to the low setting (I would say about 5% of the time). I also added a spacer in the front since it constantly felt like I was leaning forward. The peeling armrests are by far the most annoying. There are better chairs for $130. If I had to do it again, this one is a firm pass.

Some huge flaws ruin an otherwise great chair.
29 November 2023

I've owned 2 of these in the past. One, the corner of the arms WILL break. Might be 6 months, might be 2 years, but they will break. Without the arms, you have nothing. IKEA does NOT replace or sell the arms. No warranty either, better break within return policy window. Two, they changed the seat angle a few years ago. Now, it uncomfortably leans forward. Google "Millberget forward tilt" for some sloppy user fixes. The default angle is awful.IKEA must have known about the arm issue for years and years, and they still sell it with these thin, flimsy arms. It's crazy. Fix the arms and seat angle, and you guys have a great chair. Seriously, if I could just buy the arms, I like this chair enough that I'd buy a handful of sets at a reasonable price.Seat foam is ...Β MoreI've owned 2 of these in the past.
