Whether I'm taking photos or recording videos, the camera captures everything around me in incredible detail, allowing me to relive the moment as if I were there again. The footage is sharp and vibrant, and the ability to control the camera remotely means that I can capture footage from angles that would otherwise be impossible. Another feature that I love about the Insta360 One R is its built-in stabilization. This has made a significant difference in the quality of my footage, particularly when capturing fast-moving action or filming while on the move. The camera does an excellent job of smoothing out any shakes or bumps, resulting in incredibly smooth and professional-looking footage. One downside of my camera is its battery life, which can be a bit limiting if you're planning on using it for extended periods. However, the camera comes with a charging case that can top up the battery multiple times, so you can keep shooting without interruption. Overall, I highly recommend the Insta360 One R 360° camera to anyone who wants to capture stunning, immersive footage. With its compact design, easy-to-use controls, and impressive features, it's the perfect choice for anyone looking to take their photography and videography to the next level.

This is my second Insta360: I also have the Pro I.First, let me alert B&H customers that for the Pro II to function, you *must* have 6 microSD cards installed. As far as I can tell, this key fact is not indicated on B&H's product page. In trying to test the device yesterday, I wasted a lot of time before I was able to learn from Insta360's helpline (thank you, Cindy!) that this was the cause of my error message about not having a storage device, despite the fact that I had an SD card installed. So, if you buy the camera, be sure to purchase the 6 mandatory microSD cards at the same time if you don't already have them. With the Pro I, I could take a shot, and the camera was ready for the next shot within a minute. With the Pro II, it takes an average of 3-4 minutes. (In case anyone is wondering, I had the camera's onboard real-time stitching feature turned off.) If you have a lot of shots to take, this will really slow you down. That said, the quality of the 8k panos is quite nice, and there is no competing device in the same price range.

I also could NEVER get the GoPro app to connect to my cameras even though I followed all the instructions. I will say that I like the Insta360 ONE R 1 Edition but there are several things that keep it from being great. The first part is that you have to use the app to operate it. I really don't like that I have to open up my location and disable my VPN. I also find the app difficult to keep connected to my phone, but at least I was able to connect it. One the good side, I find this camera to be easy to operate and it does not suffer from overheating. The camera is cool but there’s some hidden downsides you don’t expect until going through it like me. My last comment is probably the most critical to this review.Buy one battery length because the cases only fit one size and it sucks to lug an extra case along with needing to swap it over. The extended battery has/had one real case option when I bought mine in the fall of 2020. It is the Ulanzi metal case. For the small batteries you get about half (45 mins one the 360 Camera. The Extended is 1 1/2 hours)The extended battery has two metal tabs that flip out but the mounting spot of the tab feels and looks like a weak point and when mounting the tabs bend inwards when tightening due to the fitment of the female side having too much play.I would suggest roughing ... MoreThe camera is cool but there’s some hidden downsides you don’t expect until going through it like me. I went to remove the scratch with a felt too dremmel bit and buffer. I accidentally heated it up to much and cracked the lens when I went pretty slowly, gently, and carefully. They offer no repair service for the 360 camera mod; nor do they offer just a lens for a diy. The replacement is $100 and they must know 80% of the cameras will develop a scratched lens with in a small time frame. Poor judgment on their customer service to have people that are spending a big chunk of money on getting a camera to need to completely replace something over a piece of glass. Imagine it like as if a cracked, or simply scratched, phone screen caused you to have to replace your entire phone at full cost.

Fantastic gadget with a great twist on making videos

What a great way of recording travel, adventure, motorcycle videos.. giving a view that is different from the existing adventure cameras. I have found the image quality to be really good with great clarity and colour. The built in stabilization works really well, and when using the 360 camera module it gives your videos the gimbal effect without cropping the video. This is something that you can't get from a standard action camera On a motorbike the video keeps the background scenery level and perfectly stabilized, and shows the bike leaning into corners. If you use the 4K camera then you get the usual view with the bike image 'fixed' but the background tilting when the bike corners. The 360 camera also doesn't miss a thing because it records in all directions.. what I mean is that if a friend rides beside you then you can direct the 360 camera to take video of him while he is beside you and then follow him as he rides to the front of you (or behind). All while the camera is fixed into one position and you don't need to take your eyes off the road. I highly recommend investing in this camera to record sensational travel and action videos. The quality of the camera is superb, and it makes use of standard GoPro style mounts and fittings. It is also much easier to make videos than what I thought it would be and can be as simple as you need it to be. I also have high praise for Johnny Appleseed. They have been very quick to post.. I ordered late in an afternoon and received the item the following day. That's using priority post but I have ordered general items from others on eBay only to realise that it took them two days to get around to posting the item!! Also, JA has been very competitive compared to pricing elsewhere. So, to get a quality product, efficient and professional delivery and service and to know that you are supporting a healthy Aussie business is a good thing, I reckon.

High-maintenance camera!

-=Scroll to bottom for tldr=-I really wanted to like this camera (1-inch version) and I expected to deal with the app but it's not enjoyable and too time consuming. I tested this camera for a week straight. By high-maintenance, I mean that after recording there's more that needs to be done to process the video inside the app (steadyflow stabilization, color grading). It's like a camera that's 90% hardware and 10% in-body software. The menu's response speed is slow. Some settings override others like if you have the encoding in h265 but change modes or restart the camera, the encoding will be set in h264.Even if you set the camera to 2.7k or 1080p expecting a lower mbps file size, it will still record at the maximum resolution and 100mbps because that data is ... More-=Scroll to bottom for tldr=-I really wanted to like this camera (1-inch version) and I expected to deal with the app but it's not enjoyable and too time consuming. I find this to be a bad video option. If only the camera had smoother in-body stabilization like the competition, better minimum focus distance of 1ft, and no artificating, it would be a sold 4-5 stars! To get good quality video, you must do all the post-processing yourself. Flowstate stablization still has micro-jitters especially when lights are present. It's better if you use Davinci Resolve's stabilization. While, the h265 encoder is efficient in file size, the video quality is worse compared to h264. For the same price you can get a used compact camera with a f1.8 zoom-lens, better image stabilization and better sound. It just won't shoot 4k60.PROS-Better image quality in ideal lighting conditions compared to cell phones and other same-sized cameras-The only 1-inch sensor consumer camera to record in 4k60fps-3 image profiles (Standard, Vivid, Cine-Like)-Cinelike profile provides good dynamic range-Acceptable built-in mic quality-Rechargable by usb-cCONS-Oversharpening and compression artifacts as mentioned by previews reviewers.-Terrible solar flaring (see all the examples on Youtube of people filming the sun)-Flowstate stabilization causes micro-jitters especially when lights are present-Minimal image processing inside camera-Minimum focus distance is ~2.5ft-Buttons don't react at every press when inside plastic cage.-Slow firmware when using menu + settings.-Bluetooth mic connection has poor audio quality akin to cell phones.TLDR;Like a princess, you have to put in a lot of work to get good looks. Decent quality but expect to put in a lot of post-processing work to get good video quality. Use h264 encoding, cinelike profile, a gimbal and do color-grading for best results.

Interesting camera
2 June 2021

I’ve been wanting an action camera for a while and after doing some research decided to get this one.It is NOT the twin lens edition as it mentions in the description, it’s the one R 1 inch lens Leica edition. So far I’ve filmed walks, time lapses, taken some pictures. My favourite so far is the time lapse option. The camera does get hot after an hour of time lapse but that’s enough for a few minutes film. The software doesn’t always load, but I tend to run mine through premier rush which I’ve already got.It will be interesting to see what this cameras capabilities are for such a little gadget. The price was a little steep.

I bought this camera because of the Leica Lens (which I found out the cheaper models of Leica use lenses made in China). And also because it had 5k and was more expensive and, I felt you get what you pay for.I had watched all the YouTube reviews but found out later most Youtubers won’t really give bad reviews only a sprinkling of things that the company can improve on. They do get free products from the company and get a portion of the sale if you buy it from a link on their website even though they tell you they're independent. To sum this up, I wasted over 500 dollars on this camera when I could have bought the Go Pro and saved money or even bought a gamble and used my phone which has much better quality than the Insta360 1R.

They claim water resistance which is a misleading claim. I had it with my DSLR and a GoPro on a boat. There was water splashes but nothing out of the ordinary and DSLR is water sensitive. All kept in a dry bag and removed to take a picture or video. After returning, this camera wouldn't turn on. I inspected closely and dried it but still dead. This was the fastest five hundred loss. I had their original 360 camera and it tolerates all kind of extreme weather but this one is poor engineering to say the least.

Very disappointed with video quality and stalization - NOT a substitute for naked gopro hero 8 or 9

The image is extremely grainy, especially in any sort of shade. I did a side-by-side comparison with a 4k $25 gopro knock off a relative bought me on amazon a few years ago. the $25 4k knock-off beats this camera in lower light. When I tried to process some stabilization, the image not only has jello, but actual tearing in the stabilized footage. This is just miles away from gopro hypersmooth or realesteady. If this was maybe $50, this would be bearable. I haven't even put it on a drone yet and I don't feel it's even worth the effort to solder up (although that's the one thing it has going for it -- this is very simple to connect). If this were an amazon purchase, i would have already returned it.. but I feel bad about asking a solid business like pyro for a ... MoreThe image is extremely grainy, especially in any sort of shade.
