Sometimes repeating helps, sometimes not... You spend so much unnecessary time trying to work around. Then the tracking gets confused, when you switch the frame... Most of the times I just do it manually - While advertised as waterproof, videos shot under water will not look good because of stitching problems and focus. It's not gonna work well. - Camera crashed when doing the last firmware update, scary moment

Even after going through all the suggested steps by Insta360 help rep, blogs, forums, and all the youtube videos we’ve watched to try and resolve the issue. Without connecting to the app, there’s no way of editing. I have a iphone 13 pro and ipad pro btw. We took it on a ski trip and had to start recording on the camera itself bc of no connectivity. Great 360 footage on invisible selfie stick but a bit heavy and awkward to hold and ski with. Chest strap can’t really get a full 360 view. Will try the backpack attachment next time. Next step is to try and connect to my macbook instead of phone/ipad to edit.

After that it worked flawlessly and took about 90 minutes of video from trip over about 20 clips and am now in process of editing all of them on the studio app. So far very happy with the camera, I bought the silicone cover and the selfie stick/tripod and happy with those as well. I REALLY hope that the Studio app will grow to include more features to be able to put multiple clips together and be a more full featured video editor. Even if its basic as going to a 3rd party editor isnt that big a deal I'd love to just stay in one editor. All in all very happy and the camera will go with me to Mexico in a cpl months and plan on doing a full resort review using it and all its amazing capabilities.

Happy with this fun little camera
28 February 2023

So far I am very happy with the insta 360 x3. I already had an older gopro (6 black) that I use for skiing, biking, hiking but the insta 360 can get some really interesting shots. The videos are more liquid as camera angles can flow, no need to pay much attention to where the camera is pointing is just so nice. Shots I would normally miss are caught by the 360. I realize that this is better built for short action sequences and editing is done on mobile, I still prefer to edit on my home computer but lose access to some of the video editing pre-built stories (like sky replacement, ect) I hope it's eventually added to the PC video editor. Going to be recording an hour long DJ set at a furry rave in a couple weeks, will be large files and not suitable for phone ... MoreSo far I am very happy with the insta 360 x3. Going to be recording an hour long DJ set at a furry rave in a couple weeks, will be large files and not suitable for phone editing. The 360 is just FUN to use, the video tutorials, and ai powered effects are getting impressive. These are great tools for story telling. I have one of those 3 meter selfie sticks on the way and look forward to simulating drone shots with it. Future versions of the insta 360 will be interesting, I would love to see either more scratch resistance lenses (sapphire?) Or easily replaceable outer glass lenses. I know the unit size is largely driven by the battery and heat dissipation necessary for the intense computation to save a 5.7k video stream, that can be shrunk down with better processors in the future. The audio is pretty good, but would be nice to be able to use my galaxy buds for mics/audio(currently only supports airpods?). Also I don't see why an overlay of GPS information can't be used from the phone and not require the wireless GPS module. The current touch screen is a joy to use, super convenient to have a standard tripod mount built right into the 360. I can tell a lot of thought went into this camera, kudos to the engineers. I look forward to using the 360 and learning it's idiosyncrasies.

Love it, but protection needed
26 February 2023

As a complete novice I have found using the insta 360 really easy. I'm enjoying the videos while motorcycling, the best bit is just setting up the camera and forgetting about it. My only comment for improvement, would be for the software to allow all loop recordings to be saved as an option, as I would prefer working with shorter videos. Loop curentley saves the last video one delete the previous at the end of your chosen time. I am a little worried about the lenses as I hear these can be damaged, for this reason I did purchase the protectors. I would love to have seen a protective case included in the price much like the orignal from Insta well known competition. Over all, quality footage and experance.

Mixed feelings of wonder and awe
8 January 2023

It is with a mixed reaction I have upgrading to the X3 from my slim, light weight, ease-of-use instaOneX, I thought I might have waited long enough for there to be some significant improvements and I believe I will discover some of them as time goes on, however, as soon as I felt the weight and awkward way it doesn’t go back in its protective sleeve, I began to have twinges of buyer’s remorse. Having a screen replicating the environment turns out to not be as useful as one might have thought. Initially that is, I can see that the interface and setup screens are clearly easier to read for sure, so I guess seeing what it is seeing may hold some intrinsic value as I begin exploring more of its other features than just shooting 360 photos and video. HDR has its limitations with moving video, and surely does create better balance in pictures, but the original ONEX covered that so I guess I would say some of the exposure settings are a real bonus to see real-time changes on the screen so that is great. It seems a little thicker so I am not sure whether the seams are better or worse, need to analyze that more. The weight makes it all the more imperative not to even think about dropping it! I found myself touching the lenses while operating it way more than I ever do with the ONEX, but I will learn a more careful handling over time. All in all I still love the simpler slim ergonomic form factors of the ONEX that will likely not grow on me even with time getting to know the X3 despite its host of additional features. The streaming option seems exclusive to Android devices from what little I can discern so that is weird. Finally that 72. Mp 360 photo option seems a little more like an algorithmically scaled up regular 360 photo that is just taking up more megs to store… will have to do a deeper comparative dive to confirm whether it is worth it to bother with, it just is not significantly mind blowing enough or observable in a VR headset upscaling from a normal 18 mp, default 360 photo. I still would give it 4 stars for its solid build, more like a little truck than the jetfoil sleekness of the original curved and elegant design Insta360 came up with in the ONEX. Most of the subsequent products all look blocky and too thick overall which is why I waited so long to upgrade, hopefully I will discover the magic of this upgrade when my expertise and the weather improves around here.

My Insta360 X3 experience
17 December 2022

My first 360-degree camera was a YI 360 VR, but it doesn't compare to the Instra X3. The Instra X3 is a great camera! Initially, my phone failed to connect to it as it only supports 2.4 GHz for WiFi. As troubleshooting steps, you gave, "open the app - go to "Settings" and tap on "Set current camera region" - select Indonesia", but for me that didn't work. I decided to try a few other destinations, at one point choosing Iran. The result was that my phone was successfully connected to the camera, the camera was activated and I started to control it as well as process the captured images. X3 quality is superb, and the white balance is also very good, even under LED and fluorescent lighting. I highly recommend it.

Nice entry level 360
26 February 2023

It's a nice camera that gives unusual possibilities for shots that cannot be made with any "classic" sports camera. There are some stitching issues (you can see wires artefacts from time to time). What's also a "hidden" fact is that yes, it does record a 5.7K 360 footage, but after reframing it's at most 1080p (unless you use a ultra wide FOV, then maybe 2.7K is possible). Image quality is fair to good as for sports camera when used in perfect lightning conditions. When used in more dim light the footage is barely suable, so forget indoor shots in low light. Overall I like it and can't wait to take it for my next holidays.

Practically perfect.

This camera pretty much fits my ideal perception of a pocket 360 camera. The HDR recording is very clean. There is very little noise in the image. I find it useful for reframing footage and recording YouTube shorts we are vertical framing is used. I would like to see a higher resolution especially when using it for a reframing video. Instead, the camera gives you a preview of either the front or rear lens in a wide view depending upon which lens you select. I’m hoping this can be changed with a software update. The screen is not huge but it is a perfect size for what needs to happen to operate the camera. The quick button on the side also makes changing modes very simple for video shoot modes you commonly use. I would buy this camera again. It is a perfect sized camera to explore filming interesting locations in 360 without having the hassle of a larger camera that is more time to set up and attracts more attention.

Small and Impressive
6 February 2023

Shipping was quick and the items were very well packaged. The device feels very high quality and worth what you are paying. There are an overwhelming amount of features packed in the tiny thing but the setup and layout is easy to understand. The app is very intuitive and makes it's much easier for anyone that is new or not very good with photography and editing. This is definitely this pick up and "go cam" I was looking for and it's capable of some incredible shots. Very excited to get aquatinted to using it and learning how to use it to it's full potential.
