I have a big pressure cooker that I never use - too fussy, too much work, I never know how long I should cook stuff, whether it's pressurized enough to start counting yet or not, etc. Plus it's too big for me alone. I have been hesitating on the IP for a long time. I was waiting for the Ultra 3qt to come back, but it seems like that's not going to happen. SO I finally caved to peer pressure (ah!) and got this one instead. And oh, my. YES. SO MUCH YES. I haven't done much yet, but the simple fact that I can finally steam veggies as much as I want to with zero fuss, next to zero dishes, and with barely any work, have more than sold it on me. Favorite French beef stew that I only ever get to eat when I go back home? Check. Chicken soup? Check. Very few dishes? Check. Clean kitchen? Check. Food prep in the morning because you can delay the start or slow cook with no supervision? Check. This little baby is now my Air Fryer's best friend, and the rest of my cookware hates them. My stovetop too. I cook a whole meal and end up with one pot to clean (or two if I used the steamer basket) that doesn't need actual scrubbing, plus the air fryer's basket, and the cutting board. That's it. All that being said, I wish it had a few things it doesn't: - Ability to set the temperature lower (in yogurt mode) so I could make fromage blanc ( a cross between yogurt and fresh cultured soft cheese), - Higher sauté temp. As it is, it's barely hot enough to sear anything. Oh, and get yourself a steamer basket. It comes with a trivet that will hold big food chunks out of the water, but the keywork here is *big* chunks - and it's *below* the food, so good luck taking it all out. If you want to actually steam stuff, get a steaming basket. Also negates the need for a colander. I also got the silicon lid, so I can put the leftovers in the fridge directly without having to transfer them. You will also need some kind of mitt because the pot can get hot and doesn't have a handle.

I was a long time user of an old-fashioned stovetop pressure cooker. I heard about the IP when it first came out and, I'll admit, I scoffed at the idea. It seemed like a needless gadget, but what pushed me over the edge was one of my friends who got one and couldn't stop praising it. I finally buckled and bought one and have never had an issue with it. It not only exceeds my expectations, but also makes my life so much easier - super safe and easy to use, clean and store. It also does not take up much space. It works like a charm - from quick weeknight dinners to elaborate weekend feasts, this kitchen marvel has never disappointed. Although I do not use mine regularly like people who are nuts about it, but it really was a great purchase and I would recommend it for ... MoreI was a long time user of an old-fashioned stovetop pressure cooker. For example, the yogurt function: I also tried it and the product was beyond my expectations. Everything during the cooking process is completely sealed to keep the smell and nutrients, as the picture I shared, or I stewed beef to make beef pho, it was also great, the beef was soft, did not lose nutrients, and after cooking, the machine automatically released steam. QUICK AND EASY CLEANING: With anti-fingerprint and stainless steel products, you can easily wipe with a regular cloth. Parts such as the product, the contents inside and other accessories are all dishwasher safe. This product is essential in my life, I can shorten my cooking time to spend with my family, and can enjoy delicious dishes with great nutritional value
I’ve always been someone who chose convenience over health which had led to all kinds of health issues including weight gain. The thought of prepping food and standing for ages to cook it has meant that I’ve made a lot of poor food choices in the past. I’ve been looking at multi cookers for ages and did a lot of research as some of them have toxic non stick inner pots. I chose this one for a number of reasons: 1. The non toxic stainless steel inner pot (deciding factor); 2. It was on sale; and 3. I was able to use my points to get some money off. I’ve used it almost every day since I’ve bought it and I only wish I’d bought it sooner. I am so happy with it. It’s really easy to use and although there’s a still a little prep with chopping food, you just throw it all in and within a few minutes you have a meal. It’s so much better than I thought it would be. I also end up having 2-3 days worth of leftovers which is another reason for buying as I wanted to start batch cooking. There’s an instant pot app you can download with loads of recipes and the food I’ve been cooking as a result has been really tasty. There are loads of vegan and veggie recipes on the app so I’m happy. I’ve not tried yogurt making yet… still a bit confused about how to do this as the advice online in forums and on the app don’t match the instructions but other people manage to make yogurt so I’m sure I’ll get there. Basically, it’s a brilliant product and I wouldn’t be without it now. I love it.
Pressure is lower than a stove top pressure cooker (11psi rather than 15psi) so be aware of that - longer cooking times needed for meat. But this is so useful if you like to cook stews, pulses, soups, stocks without having to stand over the stove and watch the pan. For cooking pulses for vegetarian food particularly, it is extremely useful. You don’t need to pre-soak, and you don’t have a kitchen full of steam and a monster electric bill. Not noisy or hissy or scary like a trad pressure cooker. There are squillions of recipes out there because this is an extremely popular kitchen appliance now, and many youtube videos showing the different functions. Not noisy or hissy or scary like a trad pressure cooker. There are squillions of recipes out there because this is an extremely popular kitchen appliance now, and many youtube videos showing the different functions. You can saute things before you pressure cook them, eg, onions and leeks etc for soup, then add stock and other ingredients and put the lid on, seal the weight, and press “soup” and then it takes about 40 minutes including heating up and releasing pressure naturally. But you can always release the pressure fast if you are impatient! Yes, it isn’t ultra quick, but it is quicker than cooking a casserole in the oven. I sometimes cook a stew on stew setting then finish it in the oven, but this still takes less time than conventional cooking. I notice someone here has reviewed this badly on the basis they didn’t understand how to use it, but the manual gives clear instructions, and it is not complicated if you can read. Besides, as I said, youtube has videos showing usage if you can’t read LOL….It is quite big, so make sure you have space for it, but it wouldn’t be difficult to keep it in a cupboard and get it out to use as needed if necessary, it’s not too heavy. Get spare silicone rings for sweet/savoury and the glass lid is useful for slow cooking. Re Slow cooking, the slow cook temperature is a tad on the high side so you need to keep an eye on it to check the fluid level. But it does slow cook effectively, if that’s your bag. Soup, Stew, Meat, Grain settings all work fine also. I have the original model not the fancy smart models but the principle is the same. I am buying one for my sister for Christmas. Very much worth the money.
I've had the Instant Pot 6-quart (original Instant Pot), and it has been fantastic for my healthy meal-prepping rice, veggies, and various soups. I love it! I recently purchased the Instant Pot 8-quart because I now make homemade food for my dog that requires "slow cooking." I run both instant pots simultaneously for 6.5 hours on slow cook mode. I get excellent meals for 7-days with recipes that include ground turkey, veggies, etc. My dog goes nuts over his meals every single time. He loves it. The difference I notice between the two Instant Pots is that on the new IP 8-quart, I do start it on sautee mode for about 2-3 minutes first and add a little bit of coconut oil and veggies to begin getting it warm - immediately after I press cancel and start it up again on ... MoreI've had the Instant Pot 6-quart (original Instant Pot), and it has been fantastic for my healthy meal-prepping rice, veggies, and various soups. On the original IP-6, the slow cook mode warms up instantly.I did not get the newest IPs with the Wi-Fi-smart modes because, based on the reviews, I do believe those all have a "pre-heat function" that requires the unit to run for several hours before it reaches the temperature necessary for the slow cook process to begin. That adds more hours to cooking, which I did not want.
I bought this as a present for my son, Who lives by himself and comes Home for home-cooked meals once a week and had noticed how nice the food turned out when I cooked it in the instant pot. He actually asked for one as a birthday present much to my shock! However, I’m pleased to say it arrived quickly and he been using it and is very happy with what he has been able to produce. I’m using instant pot everyday. They have also app in AppStore. In this model there is no airfryer option, I use only for cooking multiple recipes. I tried making yogurt but texture wasn’t good. There isn’t any yogurt recipe in app but a of videos in ytube. Its also easy to cook frozen food vegs and meat with pressure. I tried broth-soup-meat /sautee,mashed patato-veggie purees etc..really fast. Easy to clean. When the timing ends,Alarm voice is nice. You can control the pressure. There is also “keep warm” option so food is always ready but it’s strong so food can a little burn or lose the water. In some comments I saw that they send also extra rubber of lid. I didn’t have any but they send me extra cable. You can also buy another steel pot in case you need more. ... MoreI’m using instant pot everyday. They have also app in AppStore.
