It's plain to see that Apple has worked hard to make Siri more responsive and smarter to the point where I'm more confident in using it.Other things: While the upgrades seem marginal, what really sets the iPhone apart from other devices is that Apple delivers features that you don't have to "think" about. It becomes part of your everyday usage. Wow-factor is important, but it's those little things that can make device infuriating to use, or enjoyable. No operating system is perfect, but I am definitely happy with my purchase. If you're an iPhone 5S owner, I would definitely consider upgrading, you won't regret it!

I waited to upgrade my old 4 until it was no longer supported by Apple, which happened with this iteration of the iPhone. Though usually I would go with the 'free' one, in this case, the 5s, I am so happy I upgraded to the 6s instead. Well worth every penny. This phone is like the 4's cooler older brother, and I've had no problems with battery life since I turned off all the fancy schmancy stuff like Parallax Effects and Hey Siri. The new Low Power mode is my favorite feature. Much improved over Airplane Mode, which used to be the only option for conserving power. I didn't notice any performance issues in Low Power mode either: stuttering, apps force-closing, et cetera. I'm still learning all the new things this phone can do, but I'm enjoying every minute of it.I ... MoreI waited to upgrade my old 4 until it was no longer supported by Apple, which happened with this iteration of the iPhone. It's slim and made of an excellent grippy material, plus it's drop-rated to 6.6'. I've only fumbled my phone once while climbing some stairs, but it stayed perfectly protected inside my case.Call quality for me has been excellent. I'm on VoLTE and have not noticed any problems with noise or dropped calls. The one thing I can ding it for, which gave it four stars in two categories, is the ever-present Apple problem of assuming that I NEED certain apps. I can honestly say in the 5 years I've had iPhones, I've never opened the Stock or Calculator app. Why can't I erase things like this? On the 6s there do seem to be more unnecessary applications than there were on my 4--for example, Podcasts is now a default app despite the fact that I NEVER listen to podcasts--and that can get annoying. Definitely get more than 16GB if you can.All in all, a very worthy upgrade for those not already using the 6.

The phone is good, nice little upgrades to the new IOS (even though it shouldn't have changed the way it did). But what I have found was with the iPhone 6's, there is a feature called HD Voice or VoLTE that makes your calls either have the sound of white noise like the land lines back in the 80's and 90's, or popping sounds and crackling. It took a lot of research to find out that HD Voice is automatically part of the calling features in Verizon and only with the iPhone 6's. It was driving me mad to hear all this hissing and white noise when I was listening to someone speak. I was going to return the iPhone 6 and go back to a 5s or try the Galaxy 6/7. The sound clarity is soooo much better but it seems to use a little bit more battery. So far it hasn't been a big deal. It also keeps you on the 3G and 4G networks. Verizon needs to fix the HD Voice/VoLTe issue if they are going to stick with this new technology because its maddening to hear so much noise and hissing when talking to someone. You would figure that something like this would not happen with today's technology and the financial backing that Verizon has. But it does say on the website that it is new and its a work in progress. Well, at least they give you a chance to turn the feature off. Otherwise I would have switched phones or carriers. Other then that, the iPhone 6 is fine. It probably does more then I will ever use it for. LOL.

Now that I've had this phone for 8 months I feel I can really write a thorough review. Coming from someone who owned the iPhone 4, iPhone 5 and numerous Android devices this is the best phone I'ved owned. Period. That isn't to say this phone is without its own quirks and bugs, of course, but over all I've found using it day to day for extensive email and social media use is pleasurable and reliable. So, without further ado:THE GOOD: 3D Touch, using the keyboard as a trackpad, Live Photos, app shortcuts and News, improved spotlight search, improved camera and video, Apple Music, etc. I cannot rave enough about the new features Apple has added with iOS 9 and the overall phone itself. Apple Music is FABULOUS. I definitely recommend it for people that use their phone a lot for music (for a college student it's cheap and is very well integrated into the phone itself). The phone is also FAST, FAST, FAST. It's quite easy to sort through my various emails with the peaking feature of 3D Touch and how fast the phone is on WiFi and LTE. Call quality is excellent, messaging is great with iMessages and FaceTime and overall the functionality of it being both a phone and my main device for internet usage was more than I hoped for. Another thing I should mention: I recently dropped this phone in about 3 feet of water while tubing. AND IT STILL WORKS PERFECTLY (except for sometimes putting itself on speaker while I'm on a call). The iPhone 6s is ridiculously durable and I didn't see any mention of it being waterproof when I bought it.THE BAD: In addition to the plethora of great features I have noticed some bugs, either with the software or the phone itself. But, as I mentioned briefly above, I am extremely rough on this phone. I constantly drop it on tough surfaces (even submerged it in water), have multiple apps running all day long and use it constantly. Sometimes the phone will turn itself off when the battery is getting low (like around 10%) and the battery itself doesn't last all day like the other iPhones I've had. I've also noticed some problems with some of the apps themselves force closing although this is usually pretty seldom.Overall, if a somewhat mediocre battery life and some iOS bugs isn't a deal breaker, I think this phone would be a great device for those who really want a durable and fast social media, email and music device (while also being actually usable as a phone, which is rare in the smartphone world). Great job Apple.
I've spent one week with the phone before writing this review. The phone itself is very smooth performance wise. Apps open quick and the dual layer security feature, finger print and six digit pass code request, is very intuitive. 3d touch is a welcome addition to the phone. I find myself attempting to peak and pop various apps or links that do not yet function with that feature. Here's hoping the feature is implemented more in the future. The phone is not without issues though. Here goes.1. If you open the multitask window by double tapping the home key and close all apps, then restart the phone with the power button, the apps you just closed will reopen in the multitask window.2.If you disable LTE and Cellular data, turn on airplane mode for a few hours, when ... MoreI've spent one week with the phone before writing this review. Turn Cellular data and LTE back on, and it will reconnect or restart the phone with the power button. I don't think only restarting will reenable your cellular data options, but you should check.3.For a day or two, keep track of the times of day you use data, then go to "Manage My Data" in your Verizon account, notice anything, your data is being used while you’re not using it. Turn off Cellular Data and LTE in order to ensure your phone is not using data. Are these issues caused from IOS, perhaps? IOS 9.0.2 is currently on my device and I won’t update further since IOS is having major issues. IOS 9.0.2 does have issues but the phones performance is there. I just upgraded from an iPhone 4 that I purchased from Verizon in 2011 but used it on Pagepluscellular, I'm happy so far with the upgrade, time will tell if other issues arise. On a final note, I find the more time you spend with the phone, the more issues come a long, strange to say the least but still worthy of an upgrade, as long as the IOS is the same as mine.
First off the iPhone 6S is a huge improvement over the last iPhone I had, the iPhone 4. I like the security features, and the extra bells & whistles that were built into the iPhone 6 from version 5. Performance is great, and it is very stable and dependable. Fit & Finish is great, and it is as good looking as it is functional. Get yourself a decent case to protect this beauty, and you're all set.Truth is, I missed my iPhone as soon as I went over to the darkside and bought a Samsung a couple years ago. I have said this many times, and I'll say it again... iPhone isn't the flashiest phone on the market, feature wise. BUT, it does what it does better, faster, and with more reliability than any android phone, any day. Also, what android manufacturers don't tell you is that with all their features enabled, you'll go through the battery charge in no time...so you'll constantly be tethered to a charging cable, OR have to turn off all those neat battery draining features, and be left with a dumbed down iPhone wanna be that will eventually freeze & slow down on you even more. I have ALL my features enabled on my iPhone 6S, and all I have had to do is limit data when not in use or roaming, and limit GPS use to only a couple apps in the background. The rest you can set to use GPS location only when the app is in use. I get a full days use out of my phone on a single charge with moderate use. On days when my usage is higher, I keep charging cables in my car, truck, office and house. There are plenty of reputable venders selling quality accessories, authorized accessories, for your iPhone... so you won't break the bank getting set up. AND, to Apple's credit the power cord did NOT change from iPhone 5 series to 6. That is rare isn't it?Spend your money wisely, get an iPhone. I bought the 64G version, and I love it. I'm be sticking with Apple for good this time. I learned my lesson.
I'm returning this and going back to my 5s. As a photographer and videographer I thought the camera upgrade alone was going to be worth it. After having it for only a week I quickly realized the specs meant nothing. 4k video is still impractical as most people don't have a device to view that resolution on. I thought the extra 4megapixels was going to add to my ability to zoom photos without loosing resolution, but it's hardly noticeable. The 240fps slomo is not practical in most situations...120fps is about the most you'll need even for action sports like skateboarding and snowboarding. The big thing I was hoping would improve was the lowlight capability, and although it has some, it's not a noticeable enough difference to warrant upgrading for.The main thing that made me want to return this though is it's size...This thing is really hard to operate one handed, especially once you put a case on it. Although the larger screen is nice when you have some leisure time to really appreciate it, it makes the size of the phone a burden for the rest of the day.Not only that but the build quality feels like a cheap toy by comparison to the 5s...which when i first got that felt like a cheap toy to the 4...these phones just keep getting built with lower and lower quality aluminum everytime a new one comes out.In short it seems like apple has lost touch with how people actually use their phones and are more concerned with bumping up "specs" with each model as a marketing ploy.... Sure it's a faster processor, more megapixels, 4k camera, bigger screen force touch....blah blah blah... but on a day to day human level it hardly makes a difference... Not to mention their 16GB storage for the base model is a joke! That's all I got.
Only recently did I knuckle under to societal pressure and get myself my first smartphone, this iPhone. The sales pitch is familiar to all 21st century humans, to wit: you have to have one to continue to engage in modern economy/society, and it's a marvel of modern convenience that will ever-so-easily improve your life in countless ways. Two weeks into it it's been a mixed bag -- this gadget is certainly a marvel of technology, and I have been somewhere between impressed and amazed by the quality of the visual image when I pull up a homemade youtube video, by the ease with which I can manage my voice mailbox, how easy it is to voice-dictate an email, among many other functions. But there are still a zillion little tech nuisances that either took a while to work out or am still working out: for example, accessing this with iTunes somehow caused previously downloaded song purchases to mysteriously delete from another device I own; I can't get the calendar to sync automatically when I make changes to it on another device, I am still working on getting access to my email folders, some emails disappear even when still visible on other devices, and I had to download a new camera app just to be able to email photos right side up. The list goes on from there; this thing is amazing with respect to the things that work right -- when things don't work right for whatever reason, you spend a lot of time with tech support and they still might not be able to fix it. I'd say allow a month of tech setup investment to get the darn thing working properly -- at least that's what I'm hoping for. . .
I love this case. I had the black leather when I first got the iphone 6s YEARS ago and it finally was cracking and worn. It's so hard to find a replacement for such an old phone now. I was hesitant to buy a used case, I expected it to be scratched and gross. But this was in perfect condition. Untouched, in the original packaging. Also the midnight blue is a good look. The leather has a great feel in your hand and enough friction to keep it from sliding off everything you set it on. It's a minimal design that blends in with phone. It's not one of those chunky cases with a million pointless design elements and their name embossed across the back.
Though I do like the larger screen (compared to the 4s that it replaced) for reading, the regular 6s (not plus) is still a little too large for comfortable handling for me. Many users may have larger hands, and it may be fine for them. It's also too large to fit well in my jeans pocket without being pushed out by walking or sitting, so I am now having to get used to carrying a purse again, which I have not had to do in a long time. Probably healthier in the EMF department, but awkward for me. The new battery, with its "memory" issue, is a nuisance, since my habit with the 4s was simply to put it on its charger every night, and I never had to worry about it. On the 6s (as on the 4s) I've turned off background app refresh and a few other battery-draining features, and battery life is really quite good--24-36 hours depending on use. However, I miss not having to watch out for that battery memory problem, not having to wait until it hits 20% or less to charge it, as the sales agent advised. On the plus side, the phone is much faster at everything! The camera and displays are much better and clearer. It works perfectly with the bluetooth connection in my car for hands-free eyes-free calling (not often, since it's still distracting), and it syncs perfectly when I'm going back and forth between iPad and iPhone on an ebook I'm reading (the 4s often failed to sync). Contacts and calendar, etc., transferred perfectly in the store where I bought it, which is a good thing, since it requires an updated version of iTunes to back up from my computer, and I'm leery of updating my 2012 Mac Air to El Capitan in order to update iTunes--I read so many reviews in which El Cap has crashed Macs of my vintage. In sum, I am quite pleased with the 6s in spite of the size and battery issues. I am enjoying it very much.
