The description mentions this lap desk is suited for laptop use. Unfortunately, this doesn't extend to being able to use an optical mouse on the surface. It's uncanny, the mouse will work on pretty much any other surface ... but not this one. I will be returning the other one we bought.

I bought one of these a couple of days ago, I use it with a 17 inch laptop and my laser mouse works perfectly fine direcly on the board. There's plenty of space to use the mouse for anything you'd be doing with a lapboard.It was really hard to find in the store, even the staff had trouble. We found a box of these under a desk in the desk area.There's padding underneath which doesn't go all the way to the edges, but I haven't had a problem with that yet.

Terrible manufacturer packaging. Purchased online and the desk was scratched under the shrink wrap. The replacement was no better. The shrink wrap came off but it left a wrinkle mark on the finish of the desk and the paper label was glued onto the front. In the end the result was two scratched desks. All because of the way the manufacturer packaged the desk.
