Its distinct and unique taste comes from refining "mellowing" the freshly distilled whiskey drop by drop through 10 feet of sugar maple charcoal. The distilled whiskey is then matured in American Oak barrels hand-made by Jack Daniel's themselves for a minimum of four plus years and is bottled one barrel at a time as a single individual expression. The only major distiller in the world to make their own barrels. Interesting fact - every drop of the world's biggest selling whiskey comes from a single source, Lynchburg, Tennessee. Each single barrel expression can vary in flavour profile from soft spice to full bodied and robust. Best enjoyed neat or chilled over ice.

I can’t stand high proof whiskey as I can’t get past the bite of 100+ proof whiskey. 45-47% is right in my wheelhouse and this whiskey delivers in every way. The single barrel release helps refine the Jack flavors of vanilla and banana. Also has a good oily mouth feel. Don’t get tricked by Gentlemen Jack and Old 7. These guys no how to make an excellent sipper. Plus how could you not want a bottle design like this on your shelf. This bottle is a steal under $50 like it is at TW. This goes up to $60 at other retailers.

Horrible. Maybe I got a bad barrel but that then faults the quality team. Mine tasted like rubbing alcohol mixed with what would taste like the smell of paint thinner. I took a sip and dumped it. Absolutely disgusting and I’m VERY disappointed in JD for selling this product and more discussed that that they would THEN charge customers $50+ bucks for it. Sad.

I've never liked Jack Daniels, or Tennessee whiskey. I hate to admit it, but this is beautiful. There's a slight hint of something that always brings banana nut bread to mind. It doesn't taste exactly like that, but there's a hint of something in the background that reminds me of that.I'm not good at describing tasting notes, but this has all the qualities of a perfect bourbon, with none of the issues that make me dislike the entry-level Jack Daniels whiskey. If I didn't know better, I might even think this could be from Kentucky. It's that good. And look at that bottle. Just look at it.Buy some right now. Or leave more for me. I'm cool with either one.

This is a major step up in flavor and quality from Old No. 7, Gentleman Jack, and JD Rye. It goes down with virtually no burn, and has a flavor profile of banana bread and rich caramel. It’s not the most complex Tennessee whiskey out there but it’s good enough that I don’t really care. Despite its mellowness, it holds up well in a Manhattan (though it’s best neat). My only complaint is that it’s slightly overpriced for what it is.
I ordered a Jack Daniels first barrel as a birthday present for my sister to pick up at your Sarasota FL (University Plaza) store. When she did, the clerk handed her a bag with a bottle of wine in it, insisting that that was her order. After considerable discussion, my sister got the JD but no birthday message. On the bright side, there’s a wino in Sarasota enjoying an expensive bourbon break hoping my sister had good birthday.
This is my favorite sipping bourbon. I absolutely hate everything about regular jack daniels, taste, smell are just yuck to me. This single barrel tastes like it came from somewhere other than jack daniels! There is no similarity to the OGJD at all! I found myself craving the flavor of the single barrel after initially tasting, the abv is not even present as far as a burn it is so easy to drink neat. So grateful curiosity made me just taste it to see what all the hype was about, the distillers at JD really did an outstanding job with this one
Bought a mini to try.Nose: ethanol sweetness. kind of has a powdery sugar note. But, the primary note is a fruity "barrel oak" which hasn't yet transformed into a more defined flavor like oranges or cherries. It does have a fruity character but it's just undefined. some vanilla and some black pepper. Something earthy and herbal as well. For a moment I was getting a partially used cigarette, that combination of light ash with charred tobacco and the heavy oily smoke coating the unspent leaves in the paper.Taste: surprisingly thin for 47%, or easy drinking if we're to put a top spin on it. ethanol is still carrying the sweetness which does taste a bit like honeysuckle. again with the earthiness and herbal. fruit notes are pretty thin here. "primordial bourbon flavors" that haven't yet solidified into more recognizable flavors like cherry, honey, vanilla, peanuts (which I'd expect from a Jack Daniels). etc.The website calls 2-stars FAIR and 1-star POOR. I would indeed call this poor.
Great, fast delivery with high quality product!
I bought this for my fiancé whose grandfather died this year. It was supposed to be a nice bottle of Jack Single Barrel with his grandfather’s nick name engraved in it. Technically, this is what I received, but if I had known how it was going to be done/ been able to preview it on the site, I NEVER would have purchased it.Now, Jack single Barrel has a pretty short bottle, and pretty much the whole front and back faces are covered by the bottle’s labels, so I figured the engraving would be pretty small to accommodate, but was honestly ok with that as I figured it’d still look nice. I also had to ship the item to Florida. I live at the Georgia/ South Carolina line, but figured this was probably due to legal restrictions with the two states here, and I have family in ... MoreI bought this for my fiancé whose grandfather died this year. I also had to ship the item to Florida. I live at the Georgia/ South Carolina line, but figured this was probably due to legal restrictions with the two states here, and I have family in Florida, so other than a 13 hour drive round trip to pick it up, again, I was fine with this. It was my birthday anyway and they wanted to celebrate, so seriously no biggie.I wouldn’t have bothered if I’d known what it was going to look like, though. Minimum, I would have gone with a different bottle had I known they had so little options, if not a different company all together.First of all, the font they use is juvenile as ****. These are engraved bottles of ALCOHOL. The entire customer base is people buying for either sentimental or business purposes. WHY WOULD YOU GO WITH SUCH A CHILDISH/ UNFLATTERING FONT?! This was to commemorate his DEAD GRANDPA! Anyway, my grandma who received the package thought it was ok, so I had started to get over the font until I got down to pick it up from her and found out that NOT ONLY did they use this hella ****-tastic font, BUT THEY DID THE ENGRAVING ON THE *SIDE* OF THE BOTTLE! Not the front. Not the back. But the left SIDE! What am I supposed to do with that?! Turn the bottle on the shelf? The stickers are still going to be visible looking at it!Thank god I got the cedar box to hide the front and back labels of the bottle when it’s stored. This is going to look hideous displayed on a shelf by itself
I’m not sure why this would be so bad! Regular Jack Daniel’s is better thank this stuff. It has a harsh chemical smell that resembles acetone and even stings your nostrils when smelled neat from a rocks glass. The first sip is sweet with butterscotch notes, but the finish destroys the whole thing as the ethanol just wipes out your pallet. Not sure what I will do with the rest of this bottle? It’s not enjoyable as a beverage.
