It is sleek, simple and not that bulky considering the sound it throws. It is definitely not designed to be portable and is meant to sit in more of a permanent spot in the home or office, ready to act on your command. It is much larger than the other voice-activated assistant speakers I have used but it makes sense considering its sound quality.Performance: Not only is the microphone ultra-responsive, the speaker throws incredible sound ... MoreI was excited to have the opportunity to try out another JBL Product. Setup was pretty easy through the app and linking it to a Bluetooth device is as simple as can be.Pros: Awesome audio quality, built-in Google Assistant and Chromecast Streaming, and excellent responsiveness to voice commands.Cons: A little on the pricey side if you already have a sound system and just want a voice assistant.Overall, the JBL Link 300 is an incredible speaker that packs room-filling sound. It is responsive, easy to use and has a lot of options without compromising simplicity. It is definitely pricey but does prevent the need for adding on additional speakers and packs amazing sound on its own.

I spent a lot of time researching a new Bluetooth Speaker - there are dozens for sale - so how do you decide on one that is going to be suitable ? First I looked at the manufacturer. I knew that JBL produced quality items so that was an easy choice. Then how to choose the right product - there were lots of reviews - both from Users and Technical reviews. All stated that the JBL Link 300 was a speaker that performed extremely well. Looking on JBL’s web site I found that there was a refurbished Link 300 at an amazing price. I quickly ordered one ! On delivery, it looked as if it was brand new - no marks, scratches or any signs of handling. The setup was straightforward - connecting a sound source - wow ! The sound is amazing ! Great Sounding and Full Featured Smart Speaker!

This speaker is an excellent value for the price point - it offers excellent sound and smart features at a very competitive price. The bass response on this speaker in excellent. For example, listening to one of my 90’s favorites “2 Princes” by Spin Doctors, the bass kick is nice and punchy. The bass guitar shines through, driving the track and the guitars, vocals, and backup vocals all come through crystal clear. The guitar solo midway through the song is exciting and is represented very well.I’m by no means an audiophile, but this speaker has a really fun, punchy, but balanced sound that is perfect for filling a room for casual listening or even a small party. It’s hard to describe the sensation, but it is tactile and you never question whether or not you triggered the buttons properly. The smart features are great - I was able to link the speaker to my Spotify account for playing music as well as set up some basic smart home features through the Google Home app, which was all very easy to set up. The microphones have no trouble picking up my voice, even from across the room and/or while playing music. My kids also have a blast playing vocal games through the speaker (ask google to play a game! It’s pretty cool!).This speaker has everything I wanted out of it - great sound, great smart features, and a super quick, easy setup. I can highly recommend this speaker - you can’t go wrong with this one!

Great sound quality!

I am truly impressed by the sound this speaker produces. The dynamic range is excellenct with deep bass, which is well controlled and not just boomy, and it does not come on the expense of the presence of the mids, which are clear, and the highs are just right. Very well tuned! The sound is spacious and even the soundstage is surprisingly good for a mono speaker. It would have been better if it were stereo instead of mono and if it supported higher quality Bluetooth audio profiles like aptX and aptX HD for an even better sound but it doesn't.It would have also been nicer if the power transformer had been built-in the speaker or at least in the pet power plug instead of that big power brick in between... It definitely delivers well on the most important in a speaker - sound, and, over all, it does provide great value for its price.I haven't experimented with its smarts, yet, so no feedback on its WiFi capabilities or its Google Assistant and Chromecast features.I do have a serious problem with it, though - the Bluetooth connectivity is just horrible - it stops playing very frequently without any apparent cause and resumes only after disconnecting it and reconnecting, again and again. I checked and It does not happen with the same audio source and a different Bluetooth speaker. It is too bad to believe it might be normal so it might be just a defective unit but I haven't exhausted the troubleshooting attempts yet, before requestinh a replacement. I will update about that later on.

Not much left to improve

I have only had this speaker for about three days now and I can already say that I am genuinely impressed. The speaker gets significantly loud without cutting out or clipping or just sounding bad the louder it got. Also the passive radiator on this thing really reproduces some low end sound that I have not heard from some full on bookshelf speakers. The build of the speaker seems nice and solid with rubber feet to keep it planted and keep from vibrating the table you set it on. Also the rubber button tops are a nice touch in case you happen to spill something on it or use your hands while they are wet. Unfortunately not all is well here and would probably be my largest gripe with this speaker. As nice as the rest of the speaker is built all these buttons on top not ... MoreI have only had this speaker for about three days now and I can already say that I am genuinely impressed. Also the rubber button tops are a nice touch in case you happen to spill something on it or use your hands while they are wet. Unfortunately not all is well here and would probably be my largest gripe with this speaker. As nice as the rest of the speaker is built all these buttons on top not only have poor clicks, but each button actually has a different amount of pressure and depth required to actually push the button. This makes it feel a bit cheap and almost broken to be honest. Another thing is that my unit actually came with a cracked button for the google assistant button. Now to mention these are not deal breakers as the speaker can be used without ever touching any of these buttons and is actually how I ended up using it.Now for features on this thing, it is packed with as much as you can imagine. It has bluetooth, google assistant, chromecast, wifi and even a USB port for further firmware upgrades. The Bluetooth connects every time and I have never had a problem with connecting or dropping out on the connection. Also I have used the bluetooth nearly throughout the house without dropping a connection. Only when I was outside on the opposite side of the house (Four walls and 30ft) did the music start stuttering and cracking. The google assistant is quick to respond and can even hear the "OK Google" while blasting music at max volume. The Microphone can easily pick up your voice from across a decently sized room and was pretty accurate as well, although im sure any mistakes are more on google than JBL here. Now the Wifi and Chromecast is where this speaker really does shine. Just grab your Spotify, Tidal, Apple music or whatever you use and just cast it over to the speaker and let the Wifi connection take over. I have found this to reproduce the best clarity and make for the best connection.Lastly the sound of this speaker was one of the best bluetooth speakers I have ever heard. It has such a clarity and actually creates quite the boom in the low end that I was not expecting from something of this size. vocals and instruments come in clear and never fatiguing with a mellow tone yet detailed. Now this does have a decent low end but I feel as if the passive radiator may need just a touch tighter surround as the bass seems almost too soft at times and doesn't quite have that tight punch. I understand that this is a small room speaker but just seems like it could be a bit better, by no means is it bad just some room for improvement. One thing that I have not yet mentioned is this speakers ability to sync with other speakers and play all at once. This is one feature I need to try out as I love having music run through my whole house but do not have speakers wired in the walls or amps with separate speakers that can all be synced. So this is a feature I may need to try by getting at least two more of these units. All in all you can not go wrong with this speaker, hopefully you also will not need to use the buttons as that is about the worst part of this speaker and if you can get past that small defect you will be a happy customer.

This speaker produces balanced sound and offers more functionality on the speaker itself than the Google Home orGoogle Home Max. It's not as loud as the Google Home Max for obvious reasons such as (smaller and less speakers/unit) yet much louder than the Google Home. I should note that the Google Home wasn't built with listening to music as the primary function. The JBL link 300, 500 and Google Home Max were built with music as the primary function. The JBL link 500 is more comparable to the Google Home Max in terms of loudness, but this is about the JBL link 300.If you're looking for room filling sound and you have a small to medium size room, then one JBL link 300 will be more than enough. I purchased a second one because the first one by itself sounded so good with strong bass (not overpowering) that I thought two would be even better and two of these together don't disappoint in the least bit.The one thing that I didn't particularly care for is the fact that the volume doesn't really crank up until you hit 60% or more on the volume control but once you get to the mark then every incremental increase in volume from that level is big.Aside from that it's practically a Google Assistant minus the ability to place voice calls directly from the speaker itself, which isn't a big deal for me. I'm fortunate enough to have caught a pair of these at half they normal price, so I feel as though this was a steal.

[Rewarded Review] Great Sounding Google-enabled Speaker
14 December 2017

The JBL Link 300 Speaker sounds great and because it has the Google voice assistant built-in, is easy to use. It really packs a punch with clear highs and deep lows for its size. Like most Google-enabled home speakers, it can also connect to phones and tablets as a bluetooth speaker. There are six (6) access buttons on top of the speaker to supplement the voice-enabled commands. Here is where my first small complaint about this speaker comes in: the button that initiates the Google Voice Commands has a nice indent and is easy to find by touch alone. This is great at night or in low-light conditions when you want push a button but are not looking at the top of the speaker. All other buttons are flush to the top surface of the speaker and have no tactile indication ... MoreThe JBL Link 300 Speaker sounds great and because it has the Google voice assistant built-in, is easy to use. This is great at night or in low-light conditions when you want push a button but are not looking at the top of the speaker. All other buttons are flush to the top surface of the speaker and have no tactile indication of where they are or what they do. In other words, these other buttons (volume up/down, play/pause, mute, etc.) are really only usable in normal room lighting and when looking directly at the top of the speaker; you can’t really feel for them. My preference would be to at least have a raised dot on each so you can feel for the Voice button’s indent and then count the dots to either side to determine where the buttons are and what they do; first dot to the right of the Voice button is volume down, next over is volume up, etc…My next small complaint is that there is a white WiFi icon on the front that stays on 100% of the time when the speaker is plugged in and connected to WiFi. While this is nice to know when the speaker is disconnected (by the color change of the icon, etc.), it also is a bright glowing LED at night - not great when you’re trying to sleep. It would be nice if that LED would turn on when the speaker first connects to WiFi and again when commands are initiated but then turn off until there is a status change.Aside from these two small nits, the speaker sounds great, is compact and attractive. It does exactly what you’d expect it to do; be a (mostly) unobtrusive access point for the Google Assistant and a nice speaker for music playback.

[Rewarded Review] Jbl Charge 4 the win
20 May 2024

So i am a whitewater rafting guide on the ocoee river in Tennessee and something thats always eluded the majority of the rafting community is audible music while rafting the river. Well i risked it with my Jbl Charge 4 that ive owned for roughly 3 years now. I strapped it to my boat with a cam strap and played mostly key glocks as we proceeded to flip our boat at every possible opprotunity which left the speaker fully submerged in 1500 cubic feet per second of water and it didnt miss a single beat. I know its not to be water proof but as far as im concerned this speaker is fully submergeable

This speaker, although not what I was looking for exactly, could be perfect for someone who is looking for an affordable base of a smart home and/or IoT etc.The item is very nice looking and has a lot of features (bells and whistles). All are listed in the description. One thing that I found to be a problem was the size. It is a corded item in its true nature, therefore, not designed to be used for "on the go" type of activities.Due to the above mentioned mobility, the speaker is in the middle of an identity crisis, for lack of a better expression. That is to say, in my opinion, it is too small to be a stationary item, but too large to be mobile and portable. That would be my main problem or issue with it. It does have a good sound, decently loud and above average crispness, but being in the middle of the stationary vs portable range, it should be bigger and have more emphasis on sound.Overall, not a bad item. Actually, a very good value, especially when on sale. Just wish it was not in the very specifically unusual size (in my opinion) that renders it not ideal for either of the two ends of those classes. Still would recommend for someone who wants to utilize Google Assistant and all of those features. Hope this helps somehow or someway!
