The headphones are light and definitely easy to move around with, which makes them optimal for commuting, but this has its costs compared to more expensive and heavier headphones in regards to optimal sound quality. Last, it was disheartening when opening the box to see that these headphones do not come with a hard-shell case, but rather, we get a draw-string bag, so I will be using an old case to protect this sound investment (get it?).Overall, this is a balanced product targeted at people on the move who want a customized feel and relatively good-quality sound to listen to.Hardware and Touch System:Upon unboxing, again, I really wish these headphones had a hard-shell case, especially for their price. Other than that, they look sleek and feel plush and comfy on the ears. I’ve sat with them for hours, getting work done, and have not had any issues. The touch system was confusing at first, and I do get confused from time to time trying to adjust the volume or pass up on a song as the touch interface is only the surface of the right headphone. It’s nice to have it all located in one spot, but the sensitivity of touch can be frustrating sometimes, especially if I’m lying on my pillow. The battery life is sublime. I’ve left these headphones on all night by accident, and they have continued to play for me the entirety of the next day. They finally did run out of battery, but I placed them on charge for ten minutes, and I haven’t charged them again since, and that was a day or so ago. WOW. Props to JBL for battery life!Sound and App Customization (Sound and Gestures):JBL can produce some amazing sound, and these headphones are quality, but they aren’t the best sound JBL has produced. But that isn’t their point. These headphones still produce great-quality sound, and that must be acknowledged, but they also give the user freedom of movement, and that has costs. Further, JBL has compensated for this by giving us the JBL app, which gives us the ability to alter the sound in a way I have never seen before.Ugh, not another app... That is what I thought. Then I downloaded it and started diving into what I could do with these headphones. Right off the bat, the noise-canceling with these headphones is very good and very customizable, as you can choose from several levels (I go all in). You can toggle between this and ambient or “talk through” in the app (literally hear someone speak so you can have a conversation with the headphones on). This is neat, but if I need to talk to someone, I won’t be opening this app and clicking “talk through” to do so.LUCKILY You can customize all your gestures on the app so you can make the touch operation of your headphone how you want it, which is another new feature that deserves kudos. You can even alter the amount of voice you want to hear through the headphones if you like. The biggest feature on this app is the Equalizer, where you can adjust the sound down to the decibels in terms of bass, mid, and treble. I thought this was super cool at first, but then I realized that I wanted all the sound all the time, and that, for me, gave me the best quality experience. So, I have my personal EQ up all the time. Others may want their bass down or what have you, but I like my sound bumping. There are so many other features worth exploring on this app, like enhanced spatial sound that gives you a cool immersive feel like you're in a room with the artist or right/left sound balance, which I personally don’t touch. It’s worth going through and finding your sound with this app, which is super cool to have the ability to do.Last Words:Again, I think these headphones are a good option for the price. It has competitive and immersive sound features combined with comfort and relative ease of use that provide an overall pleasant experience. And I have to mention the battery life again; it is phenomenal!

Overall, I really like this set of headphones. They have excellent sound quality, as I have come to expect from JBL, and the ability to adjust the settings (equalizers, noise cancelling, etc.) in the app is a really nice bonus, especially if you have a preference for more or less bass versus vocals. One of the big advantages that I noticed immediately is that there are controls on the headphones if you want to use them and/or don’t have your phone or other device in hand when you need the controls. It takes a little bit to get a feel for where the buttons are, but I really appreciate having a button that lets me easily toggle between noise cancelling, ambient aware, and talk through. I haven’t used the others much at all since it’s easier to just adjust volume, skip tracks, etc. when listening to music from my phone, but I could see the other buttons being really valuable when being connected to other devices that are not within easy reach. Most of their basic functions are really intuitive, though it might take a while to get used to the extra controls that are available with a long press or double-tap.The microphone on this headset is fantastic. Calls were very clear in both directions, and the over ear headset made it a little easier to block out distractions on a work call so that I could just stay focused on the business at hand. I haven’t tried making a call in windy conditions yet, so I can’t speak to that, but calling when indoors was especially clear (and the mic even picked up the bit of echo when I walked into a small room). So far, I’ve used these mostly to listen to music while working and simultaneously walking on a treadmill desk, including all-day work sessions with only a few breaks. These stayed comfortable all day, unlike most earbuds, and also did a nice job of blocking out the noise of my treadmill to make it easier to focus. The noise cancellation isn’t perfect- a little bit of sound does still get through—but it’s better noise cancellation than I get with my best noise-cancelling earbuds and is more than enough to tune out distractions. The leather on the ear covers is really soft and comfortable. It did get a little sweaty after a few hours of walking, but wiped off easily. I probably wouldn’t use these to work out, and they’re not small enough to easily toss in my work tote, but these will definitely be my go-to for days that I’m working from home and for when I need to tune out significant noise. These are also likely to become my airplane headphones for long international trips as well because they’ll make it so much easier to sleep. Finally, if you’re looking at this set of headphones, you probably primarily want the Bluetooth connectivity, but it’s worth noting that there is also an option to plug these directly into a standard AUX jack. Personally, I’m going to find that functionality most useful on flights, but you might also find this to be a useful option for any device that doesn’t have Bluetooth (or for which you just won’t want to mess with the Bluetooth).

I was also pleasantly surprised to find features such as noise cancelling can be used alongside the use of the 3.5mm jack, if you also turn the headphones on while plugged in. This is quite a nice combination as I have tried different headphones before in which only allow you to use one feature or the other at any single time. The JBL app had a surprisingly large number of features, including Ambient Sound Control, Personal-Fi, EQ settings, Low Volume Dynamic EQ, Spatial Sound, Gesture Customisation (For buttons and side taps and much much more.Something else to point out is all the packaging is cardboard or a cardboard derivative, which is nice to see. Included in the box is a soft carry case and 3.5mm jack cable and a USB-A to USB-C which is nice, however the USB cable is extremely short, so short that you wouldn't be able to use it from a normal wall plug without having something to rest the headphones on.Overall extremely happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend.

Lightweight, good sound, decent comfort
17 February 2024

These headphones aren't the most comfortable pair I have worn, however they aren't the most uncomfortable either. Pairing happens pretty quickly, and it has an app that allows you to fine tune your audio listening experience to your liking (which is a nice touch). You can pair multiple devices at once as well, so for example it can be paired to your laptop for a movie and also paired to your phone for if you receive or needed to make a phone call. One thing that I am not super keen on is the plastic feel along with how they fit on my head/over my ears, however my wife likes them a lot and they don't seem to bother her at all. The noise canceling is pretty good and the addition of being able to toggle sound profiles (noise canceling on/off and talk through on/off) on the fly is pretty helpful. The controls on the headphones are a bit hard to get used to since everything is all on one side, but once you know where everything is and know what it does, there's no messing around trying to figure out what you desire to do. A pretty nice little travel bag was included in the box as well which is nice for if you wanted to bring these along on a trip and didn't want to wear them the whole time or something. Overall these are a great pair of headphones for someone who just wants some simple around the house noise canceling or someone who occasionally travels. I am less likely to recommend them to someone who travels frequently or has bigger ears for the two simple facts that there isn't a hardcase for these headphones (atleast not in the box), and I, someone with bigger ears, find them to be uncomfortable for extended listening sessions. Outside that, they're great.

Really good headphones but a bit pricey

Overall these headphones perform really well in all aspects. The sound is perfectly balanced with deep bass yet not too heavy and not overwhelming. The mid tones stay clear even when volume is close to maximum. The high tones are crisp and without any distortions. There is a JBL app which is easy and intuitive to use and gives you access to all headphones' features like equaliser or ANC modes. They score high when comfort is considered. Not too heavy and can easily be worn for a few hours without causing any discomfort. The Active Noise Cancelling is satisfactory with selectable modes to allow you to be almost completely cut off from noises in one mode and aware but not disturbed by surrounding noises. The battery life is more than better and battery life drop caused by ANC is acceptable. There are two dislikes that I found. It is rather expensive compared to similar level big brand competitors. I have quite big ears and headphones do not fully seal perfectly, but for those with smaller ears they should be perfect.

Smooth design and audio
3 February 2024

This is my first pair of wireless overhead USB headphones. The look is slick and smooth. The sounds are much richer than just listening through my phone or the TV, and I enjoy the freedom of not being bound by wires.Controls:All the buttons are located on the edge of the right earcup, for powering on and off, adjusting the volume, pausing and resuming the music, and toggling between noise cancelling and ambient aware. I still have to feel for the topmost button (power) and then slide down and count to find the button I want. 2 buttons down from he power button pauses and resumes the music, so does tapping on the face of the right earcup.Connectivity:Connects to 2 devices at at time, so if you already connected to your phone and laptop, it won't connect to the ... MoreThis is my first pair of wireless overhead USB headphones. I still have to feel for the topmost button (power) and then slide down and count to find the button I want. 2 buttons down from he power button pauses and resumes the music, so does tapping on the face of the right earcup.Connectivity:Connects to 2 devices at at time, so if you already connected to your phone and laptop, it won't connect to the 3rd device, say, a treadmill, and the audio will only come from one of the 2 connected devices. Once the headphones have been paired with a device, subsequent connection is fast as soon as the headphones are turned on.Audio quality:The noise cancelling is decent. I used it on the treadmill and could hardly hear my own stomping, which was a lot more apparently when I switched it to Ambient Aware mode. On phone calls, the other side says my voice is clear; I can't really hear my voice that much though no matter how I adjusted the Talk Thru amount.Settings:Additional settings such as EQ, or Talk Thru (how much you hear yourself when you use it for phone calls), will require the phone app. The Spatial Sound setting is pretty interesting - it has Movie, Music and Game options, and the Movie option creates this environment that sort of "places" you in a larger room with reverb.Battery:The battery life is outrageaously good - I fully charged it once and I've used the headphones on average 3-4 hours a day for 13 days and it's still at 20% charged.Comfort:The headphones are snug, have stayed put even when I raise my head to put eye drops in, but I do have to give it a rest after 4 hours.Material:The arch connecting the earcups is fabric and the insides of the earcups has sort of a leatherette material - I have a pair of headphones (another brand) with that material and it eventually became flaky and peeled off, hopefully it won't happen to these.A couple glitches:A small dot of pale blue light is on when the headphones are on, which brings a bit of unexpected distraction when I wear my glasses as I keep seeing the speck of light on the right lens. When I was cooking and somehow my stir-frying motion was understood as a tap on the right earcup and kept pausing and resuming the music.

Super Comfortable, fantastic sound

Decided to try these headphones as I've always been a bluetooth earbud kinda guy and I wanted some nice over the ear phones for flights/travel. Also wanted them for doing yardwork outside and having the noise cancelling while using power tools outside could come in real handy. Right out of the box and with a fresh charge, they paired instantly with my Android phone. No Bluetooth button to hit to put it into pairing mode etc. Downloaded the JBL headphone app and started in to discovering these babys. Being able to dial in the equalizer is always a plus. I'm not a fan of stock EQ settings. Classical was clear and the quiet parts had no noise or interference. Straight to classic rock, jazz, then podcasts. I have no complaints with the sound quality, it's excellent. Not too much pressure on the ears, soft pads, lots of room to adjust. And as you can see from my picture, I have a HUGE head and they sit very comfortably on my massive pumpkin. Charges with a USB-C and using a 27w charger, they topped off in no time. Love the noise cancelling quality, and phone calls were clear and crisp. People couldn't tell I was using them during my call. Highly recommend these headphones.

Super headphones with great all round sound.
9 June 2024

I've had these headphones for about a month now and quite easily say they are the best pair that I have owned. In the past I've had wired one from Sony and a pair of beats, but the all-round functionality on Live 770NC has been excellent.Firstly starting off in terms of comfort. I've generally gone for in ear in the past and still have a pair for more travel based use, but these over ear can definitely be worn for a considerable amount of time without any discomfort. The head strap takes a lot of the weight and so you dont have too much pressing over the ears which is can be a problem with other headphones. In terms of sound, the bass and treble are very crisp. Whether listening to your favourite track or watching an immersive movie, the sound stays true and clear. The bass is excellent for those very deep notes and provides real clarity and no distortion.I have also been using the headphones for work purposes and they have been excellent for video calls with listeners having no issues with hearing what I'm saying. Audio from calls has also been crisp and been the ideal headphones for making calls in noisy offices due to the active noise cancelling.Speaking of the active noise cancelling, it works perfectly and background noise is completely blanked out. It has worked so well, that i have not heard the next stop on the london underground and missed my stop. The battery life is exceptional and i've only needed to charge once so far in a month. The listed time is 65 hours, and I think that feels about right.Connectivity is easy, but i would recommend downloading the JBL app. It just makes life easier for adjusting the different mode. Build quality is excellent and the headphones fold away efficiently to save space in you bag. You also get a nice bag to carry the headphones in.Overall these are definitely headphones that i will be keeping for quite a while and for the price I doubt you'll get anything cheaper.

Superb sound, ease of use and portability
21 September 2024

These noise cancelling headphones are a replacement for an excellent pair of headphones that I currently use. The JBL phones have several distinct advantages. Firstly they are noise cancelling. I’ve never had noise cancelling headphones before but they are very, very good. Clearly they don’t eliminate noise completely but the cut it down dramatically. I firstly tried them by the microwave oven and barely heard the door slam shut, could not hear the beeps as I pressed the buttons and could not hear the sound of the oven fan at all. Clearly this function is ideally suited to public transport where it does indeed work exceptionally well. You can turn off the function from a button on one earpiece and suddenly you can hear, and thus, talk to people. Clearly this function is ideally suited to public transport where it does indeed work exceptionally well. You can turn off the function from a button on one earpiece and suddenly you can hear, and thus, talk to people. The impact of the noise cancelling function is that it hugely improves the sound as it allows you to focus fully on the music. The sound, as you would expect isfrom JBL is superb, great top frequencies and bass and really good clarity.I also like that the buttons are physical buttons on the bottom of one earpiece so there is less fiddling and are fully tactile. My old headphones had buttons built into the cover on the side of earpiece which were difficult find and use.The phones are also highly portable as the earpieces fold flat for transport and although they are a good chunky piece of kit the fold nicely flat.My only dislike is that they are a bit tighter on my ears than I’d like but in order for the noise cancellation to work, there must be no leakage around the ears. Whilst I understand this, I think they could have a little less pressure as they become quite uncomfotable after a short period. Finally they are very affordable and well priced considering the cost of some competitors.
