I purchased my party box last year before May long weekend. I used it virtually every weekend since and the thing never ceases to impress all who hear it. It looks good and sounds even better. I thought the light show thing was a little too gimmicky when I first got it, but have grown to love it; especially hot tubbing or camping with friends. Yes, it's a little on the spendy side, but you will never regret buying it. It's great for low volume listening in the basement or workshop, or it will play plenty loud enough with quality sound for an entire crowd outside in a large open setting. Btw, even operating at fairly loud levels outside with bass-heavy music, the battery still lasts around 5 hours. Overall awesome product! Great sound, love the control dials at the top, love the mic…except the power/on button on the mic is very sensitive and that’s not good when having drunken karaoke. I must have told my friends, “don’t hold the mic like that” at least 20 times…but does a drunk adult listen to instructions, of course not. The giant speaker, sound and mic were all a hit! Just a small design flaw with the mic and the very thing the mic turns on/off it interrupts the song. It was an ongoing joke but really it’s annoying. Once that’s fixed, then 5 stars all the way! So much fun was had!

Sound quality is good. Mic pairing is seamless and doesn't require an additional receiver sticking out of the unit so very compact. Have not yet tested the full battery endurance. 2 things I would like to have are 1. App support like the other JBL Partybox speakers and ability for firmware upgrade and pairing options. 2. Whenever the mics connect or disconnect, the audio drops for a second. It's annoying if anyone holding one of the mics accidentally presses the ON/OFF button which is quite possible.

After using it for a recent gathering, I must say THIS speaker is well worth it!! It has great sound, good bass, and the mic syncs with it seamlessly!! I love how it has another input if you wanted to use a wired mic, and surprisingly has a input for a guitar!! BUT since it already comes with one wireless JBL mic you're good to go to use it right out of the box if you wanted to use it as a pa system to!! To boot you get lights which you can cycle to match the music you are listening to and add that extra vibe. About the only minor complaint is it only comes with ONE wireless mic and wished it came with another one. BUT again that's about the only complaint and after reading other reviews, you can always call JBL Customer Support to purchase an additional mic and not ... MoreAfter using it for a recent gathering, I must say THIS speaker is well worth it!! My speaker lasted only 6 months, everything was... humm... acceptable. Battery used to last only 2 hours and at a low volume level, not even medium, I had to connect it to continue with the karaoke. One day, after I connected it to charge the battery, it didn't turn on again, no lights, nothing! Only 6 months!!! I thought my JBL would last at least 5 years, as I treat all my stuff with much care. This speaker would be much better if you can put it straigh up, not only in horizontal position. So position, endurance and a true long lasting battery would be great for the price. I felt frustrated once my hobby was suddenly interrupted, my speaker won't turn on back again. So expensive for the value.
We actually bought this to replace a "karaoke" system that didn't meet our expectations and it has been awesome. It gets loud and sounds great (for a portable speaker). Most importantly for our use case is that the wireless microphone is great. It's clear and has a good size sweet spot for picking up your voice. My daughter loves singing into it. Haven't really had a chance to test the battery to the fullest, but it seems solid and you can plug it in to power it if needed. Highly recommended for a portable party speaker or even just for a dedicated karaoke system.

Biggest issue is the atrocious battery life. at higher volumes the battery only lasts around 1 hour at max volume and less than 2 at at around 75% volume. That is absolutely atrocious. If you disable any bass boos and turn off the lights you can add an hour or so to the battery life, but with bass boost off the speaker sounds weak. As far as sound goes, this On the Go model is very inferior to the Partybox 100. Not nearly as loud and much less bass output. It's really a noticeable step back when listening to the On the Go model. My advice would be to skip the On the Go and wait for the Partybox 110, which is due out any time now. Boombox is great! The mic feature is the best part. The sound, the bluetooth connectivity makes this speaker a must get. Yes it’s bulky, but if you just use it at home, I have no problems just moving it from room to room, easy! The only minor, little negative is the battery life, when you use bass boost and the party lights, it does run out fast, but again it’s minor. I use this mainly around my home, so all I do is keep it plugged in while in use. Overall, ease of use, sound quality and mic feature makes this Boombox a 9/10 stars!

So far so good. I own quite a few Jbl speakers and other ones also. Like most with heavy bass music battery doesn’t last like stated so I expect it. Sound it nice. I have the original 300 which is loud. And also Xtreme. This is a great in between. The karaoke possibilities is a absolute plus. It’s a whole lot lighter than lugging around the 300 for karaoke purposes. And u can duet with included mic and a wired one. So all in all I give 4 stars and only reason is I owned it for a short time so haven’t ran into the kinks most thing might have.
