Bought this to replace TV speakers on a 32" TCL LED TV in a bedroom, amazing transformation off the HDMI ARC. The clarity, bass, and virtualization which is really immersive at times (source depending of course). Setup was easy for HDMI ARC, actually more of a pain on the TV side to enable all the goodies (ARC, CEC, Dolby etc). I was at first annoyed by the Wifi setup via Google Home (not required as it turns out), but this does allow for automatic firmware updates otherwise you need to do it via USB. Also, it is really worth downloading the full user manual to learn how to get access to additional features not covered in the Quick Start via the remote that comes with the soundbar most notably the soundbar includes the ability to setup/adapt itself for the room much ... MoreBought this to replace TV speakers on a 32" TCL LED TV in a bedroom, amazing transformation off the HDMI ARC. Bluetooth pairing and music play from PC or phone was painless. I have no need for Chromecast so that was not tried.

Soundstage is large and bold, sounds amazing from this tiny bar. Don’t hesitate on this purchase. Connected this to Nvidia Shield (2019) to HDMI input. HDMI output to older 2006 Fujitsu Plasma TV which has a normal HDMI input (no e/arc). JBL Bar 5.0 sent through a beautiful picture to the TV, sound is Atmos via certain Netflix/other shows and the best part was no set up. The JBL sensed both input and output with no messing around and Nvidia remote automatically controlled volume on soundbar. I’ve had other experiences with soundbars where you had to update software or they didn’t sense the streaming devices or they didn’t work out of the box without fussing with it. JBL got this right. I will purchase JBL soundbars again and you should too!

I have tested this sound bar in the shop (with bluetooth and FLAC files) before buying online (and who doesn't...). Really amazed with the quality. I chose a bar without a sub-woofer as most of the time it will be TV broadcasts (and not 4k Netflix and such like) that will be listend to Therefore, a sub-woofer would be too much. Now the minus points:Pity it does not have an ext audio in (3.5mm jack). The HDMI in/out did not work for me despite trying several cables and configurations. There was no video out but I had sound."Problem" solved by using an optical cable (PCM mode) from TV to soundbar. The Ethernet connection and using an app to play music I found very confusing and have abandoned it. Although here a plus point, when connected to ethernet, it does perform an automatic s/w upgrade. Once this is done, disconnect the ethernet as I didn't like the thought of others listening in for "command recogntion".The Alexa app only works if you have an Amazon account. - I don't.Suggestion for improvement for this product:* A small led or other subtle permanent indicator to show that the soundbar is actually on.* 3.5mm external input* A set of feet that raises the unit a 2 to 3 cm higher to allow it to sit in front of a TV that has sloping support feet. (The more modern TV's have flat feet designed for soundbars). I made my own and it looks part of the unit.Footnote: I bought this unit as a replacement for a Charge 3 speaker which had functioned as a "sound bar" for the last four years and gave good sound for such a speaker. Regrettably, the battery died in the Charge 3.

I just bought one of these Multibeams. JB-HI fi had them on sale. The install location was under a TV that is located on an outdoor wall (undercover patio BBQ area.I was expecting the normal sound bar performance that you get with reasonably priced units on the market. However, this small speaker pumps out great quality sound i was blown away by the performance. It has so many ways to connect, BT, HDMI etc. You can trow music at it from anything practically.Exceeded my expectations and then some for a speaker that I paid a couple of hundred for.
I bought this a week ago after hours of extensive research. I wanted a soundbar for a bedroom with ample bass, but not a separate subwoofer. I needed one that I could turn off and use my bluetooth headphones at night. I wanted one that would sync nicely with my Sony Bravia TV. Other bars I tried had occasional audio/video sync issues. So far, there have been 0 issues with this soundbar. The, for my purposes, is crisp and clear. If I had to pick a single con, it would be that an app would be useful. In fairness, the newer bar 300 which replaces this model does include an Android/IOS app. You have to do a series of button presses on the remote to change the base level, A/V sync level, etc., but after reading the manual and watching several YouTube videos, I had no ... MoreI bought this a week ago after hours of extensive research. First off if you are looking for something simple and just to get a little edge on your terrible TV speakers this is a great buy. However if you are looking for an actual quality sound I say you should look elsewhere. The first thing I noticed is that this sound bar is very forward on dialogue and for that I actually like this. I feel like most full sound systems the dialogue is where it gets lost unless you really have the speakers quite loud. So for my living room TV where I usually watch sports, newscasts and Youtube videos this was a great addition. Also my TV speakers are quite terrible so this was a great way to introduce just a bit of extra sound throughout the hearing range.Next this speaker has all the great new features including bluetooth, wifi, ... MoreFirst off if you are looking for something simple and just to get a little edge on your terrible TV speakers this is a great buy. So for my living room TV where I usually watch sports, newscasts and Youtube videos this was a great addition. Also my TV speakers are quite terrible so this was a great way to introduce just a bit of extra sound throughout the hearing range.Next this speaker has all the great new features including bluetooth, wifi, chromecast, dolby surround and even Earc. With all this you even get auto room correction where the speaker will play some sounds and calibrate the sound to your room. I highly recommend that everyone that buys this speaker do that right away before listening to anything. As before I did the calibration my side speakers were extremely louder than the front. So if you were sitting off to the side you would get sharp loud sounds and just by walking around there was no blend between the speakers there were harsh lines where you could tell which speakers are playing.Lastly the sound for music or for just enjoyable listening there is much to be desired. The bass begins to clip very early in the volume range and lowering the bass does little to help this along. The mids are clear until you really start to push it and then they really lose quality and detail. However the highs are quite detailed and clear no matter how much you push the speaker. Lastly I am very happy to see that the quality is quite unchanged when changing inputs from wifi, bluetooth or HDMI.In the I would recommend this for anyone that needs an upgrade to their TV speakers, but if you are speakers are ok this speaker will not wow you in the least. As my OLED TV has a fairly similar sound quality and loudness. I will keep using this on my TV with bad speakers but will look for something else when it comes to my OLED.
I was looking to improve the audio system to go with my 55" LG BX. My lounge is small, and doesn't really suit a full surround system. After a bit of adjusting, I'm extremely happy with it. You have to remember, this is a £300 soundbar, and not a full surround sound setup.I've connected it to my OLED via the hdmi eArc with a 2.1 hdmi cable. The tv is Dolby Atmos compatible, as is my Sky Q box. If you have Sky Q, it's worth going into audio settings and changing them to Dolby Digital Plus if you're TV is Dolby Atmos compatible. I also did the same with my TV settings. My TV is in the corner, not flat against a wall, and I think this may take a bit away from the way the sound is projected off of the wall. As far as I can see, I have it set up to the absolute best it can be. eArc, 2.1 cable, DDplus selected, and the sound is great. The best way to describe it for me, is that the tv feels like it's 20" bigger. You can hear sound all around. It's immersive. The sound feels like it's travelling from one side to another. I certainly feel like the sound is much better with UHD or Dolby Atmos content, but standard HD movies still sound very good. Dialogue is good, and it's a balanced sound. Highly recommended the multibeam.
This is a pretty neat soundbar from JBL. We recently upgraded to LG OLED TV and were looking for a soundbar in $300-400 range. Initially narrowed down to Bose Soundbar 300 and Sonos Beam. Sonos doesn’t have a remote and I wasn’t thrilled to use smartphone app all the time and that was deal breaker. We ordered Bose soundbar 300 but returned it very next day, as it lacked bass, surround etc. Then came across JBL multibeam 5.0. This soundbar was breeze to setup and paired with LG Oled quickly via HDMI eARC. Sound quality is very good. After calibration it sounds even better and soundstage appears quite wider. Soundbar supports Virtual Dolby Atmos but at times it feels enabling Atmos makes dialogue muddy (we noticed this with Ironman movie on Disney+, but Aladdin was ok with Atmos enabled). When Atmos was disabled soundbar displayed Dolby Digital Surround DD+ on its display and Surround seems to be working quite well with side firing speakers. Even without subwoofer this soundbar has great bass (we set it level 2, default is level 3); you can hear the rumble in action packed sequences. Dialogues are very clear. Apple Airplay setup was quick and easy. Overall great soundbar for the money.
I like the sound but after trying to configure it for my environment, I was frustrated by constant or random disconnects. I have a Projector with (originally AppleTV, then changed to Firestick) and I have set up a wireless connection to the soundbar under the screen so that I don't have to wire a connection to is. The features in this product should support this functionality. Ultimately I have tried Airplay 2, Bluetooth, and finally Alexa, and the soundbar constantly wants to go to standby mode and won't stay connected wirelessly to my AppleTV or Firestick (consistently). For the AppleTV and airplay 2, I had an older AppleTV (that supports Airplay 2) and the soundbar would constantly disconnect then go to sleep every 5-10 minutes and I would have to manually ... MoreI like the sound but after trying to configure it for my environment, I was frustrated by constant or random disconnects. For the AppleTV and airplay 2, I had an older AppleTV (that supports Airplay 2) and the soundbar would constantly disconnect then go to sleep every 5-10 minutes and I would have to manually re-pair. Very frustrating and unusable!!! I would literally go to the bathroom or make a drink, and come back to it being unpaired AGAIN. I finally have it working reasonably with the Firestick, so I recommend this method to anyone that is running into similar issues but it still required me to purchase another streaming device instead of the AppleTV, and even then it still randomly will not connect automatically (but it is now at least usable). At least it doesn't consistently disconnect every 5-10 minutes like Airplay 2. I didn't get to try a newer AppleTV, but I honestly was done with the disconnections so wasn't going to continue using Apple. Bluetooth with the AppleTV also constantly disconnected. The Firestick will connect, but I need to turn on both the Soundbar and Firestick at the same time since the Soundbar standby mode doesnt seem to get the indicator that it should connect automatically.Aside from the wireless disconnects. Connecting the soundbar to with Apple Home or even Google home was terrible. I messed around with it long enough that i got it working, but i couldnt even define the exact steps. Just mess around with it until it connects. All the above is a shame because the sound is pretty good when it works for an all-in-one soundbar. I would go with a different product if I had the chance, I have had this for a full year now.
Pros: sound is amazing for how small this thing is and I'm really impressed with how clear everything sounds.Great bass not overpowering but solid.
