I bought this stove three years ago. I have used it on multiple camping trip and used it during my kitchen for two weeks straight. I have never had a problem with the regulator as some have reported. I always take the gas canister off and take the regulator off of the stove. The regulator always goes back into the box it came with. In terms of performance, none of the other stoves I have had provide the temperature control that the Genesis does. Wether boiling Asparagus or cooking eggs, I can always get the stove just right. The frying pan and pot are top notch too. It was more money than I wanted to spend, but after years of use, I believe it to be a great value. A great stove with a few disappointing features

I've been wanting one of these for a long time. We own other products from Jetboil and we are very happy with them. This stove has some of the. absolute best burners of any camp stove anywhere. Really good flame control. It's easy to set up and stow. The case is great too and it makes no noise while packed and traveling.Now the bad. The gas intake is on the wrong side. it's on the left. All other stoves are on the left. This combined with the hard propane line is a real pain in the butt. So close to a perfect product yet so far away.

Buyer Beware regulator and broken burner valve

I've had this unit for 2 years. The regulator failed and left me hanging during a fire ban. No way to use the stove and illegal to cook over fire. Inconvenient to say the least. Customer service gave me a discount on a replacement as the stove was out of the warranty period. Seems as if its a very common complaint on these stoves. Two trips later the burner valve broke off at the stem leaving me with one burner working for the long weekend. After emailing with customer service yet again, I was put onto tech support) who informed me that the unit is irreparable and had to be replaced at a 25% discount. What?! Yes...Spend another $300 for a new unit. Not a chance.So just a heads up, If you buy one of these, don't expect any help past the warranty period and expect ... MoreI've had this unit for 2 years. Its just the customer service is lacking and the factory warranty should be longer and or parts should be available to repair the equipment that will fail...

Compact camp stove system

I haven't used this stove a whole lot yet, but so far everything is great. Living at high elevation (over 9000 ft) I expect to burn through propane really fast but this has seemed plenty efficient so far and I'm able to cook food just like I would on the range in the house. I got it for planned car-camping trips and parking lot lunches on long, kids sport tournament days, and the compactness of this stove is stellar. We have been using a Weber Traveler for parking lot lunches and this saves a ton of car space and car stink (obviously any grill isn't even in the same category as a camp stove, and we'll still take the Traveler to some events). Using this stove on a table is plenty stable. It does need around 30" of linear space on the table to support the small propane tank in the right position, though I've seen others let the propane tank dangle off the edge a table or using it on the ground and I think that would work ok if you don't have kids running around, you're in a pinch, or are trying to skip the table. The plastic wind shield is just silly so I plan to pick up a separate foldable metal shield to help with cooking on windy days but will keep the plastic shield in the travel case to give it structure and for just-in-case. The stove seems very durable and doesn't give the impression of lightweight junk. Yes, some of the price comes from the brand name, but it definitely is a high quality piece of equipment and I'd rather get something good than buy several duds (and end up spending more in aggregate). I plan to use different pots/pans when I'm not really trying to conserve packing space, just to extend the life of the pot and pan (and since I generally avoid nonstick coatings) so I can't speak to the durability of the pot and pan yet. It's also worth noting that the lid is plastic. I missed that in reading the product description.

I want to bring a big stove, then separately bring a pot, a pan, and a lid in another box so I can waste time digging through stuff to get what I need. Why make it more convenient? Dumb. It packs up so small you'll probably just lose it.Secondly, I want to go from no flame to blow torch in 1/8th of a turn on the knob. What is this silliness about "more control" and "simmer" about? It makes it difficult to scream at the wind if your flame isn't being blown out by it. I mean, where's the struggle, the frustration? I'll miss lugging around a bigger stove and separate pots and pans. I'll miss burning most meals, or taking forever to heat them up. But, I'll just try to focus on the rocks and trees, and bottle up my anger into a neat little carrying case just like my new Jetboil Genesis... which is obviously terrible.PS. Excellent compact car camping two burner stove

I bought this during black Friday for a good price, but still the price is much more than most of the traditional two burner camping stoves.I picked this up mainly for the size, as we carpool for camping and space is always an issue when four people go in one vehicle.Although I haven't used it yet, it looks solid and the quality looks excellent. As everyone says the wind blocker seems flumpsyand jetboil really have to get their Engineers work on a better design/solution.Overall I am very happy with the product and will update this review after I use it at a campsite.

Great for Off-Roading and Overlanding!

I bought this to replace my CampChef BigGas Grill.i was skeptical at first as its size is so small and compact, however that was the objective, reduce the size of my equipment footprint without losing necessary conveniences. I can unequivocally recommend this product for remote cooking needs. I still cook 3 course meals while in the most remote places. I upgraded the fuel hose to connect to a propane tank onboard. I also upgraded to the Luna and today the Half Gen to extend the cooktop services. Awesome!

Some good, some bad

Overall, it's good. It's my go-to stove for overlanding (car camping). But there are some good things and some bad things to know...The good: The stove itself is nice, and works well. It is compact, and has good heat control for simmering. The large pot (with flux-ring) is very nice, and is most useful for making large watery dishes.The bad: The propane canister connection is not very nice, and I replaced it with an aftermarket hose instead of the rigid pipe. The windscreen is tiny, doesn't attach well, and is next to useless. The skillet is sad. The metal used in the skillet is too thin and doesn't spread the heat out well, and it is impossible to make many dishes without over-heating the non-stick coating. And the zipper on the carrying case broke.Boiling water: This setup is not good for simple boiling water. Get a Jetboil Flash for that. The Flash works so well at this one task that it makes sense to have a second stove just for that. Don't get the add-on to this stove that adds another burner, get the standalone Flash since that will give you added flexibility and convenience.It is a shame the skillet is so thin. Having a thicker skillet would not add any to the packed-size, would not add significant weight (for a base-camp stove), would not add significant cost, and would make the whole thing more useful and robust. I've started bringing a separate (US$35) aluminum skillet and my cooking as gotten MUCH better. The cooking process is less frustrating, the food tastes better, and cleanup is easier.

Truck camper R’s 2cents

I bought this high dollar system because its small and compact and plan to use it when overlanding with my truck camper. I prefer to cook and spend most if not all my time outside and cooking is no exception. Prior to this system I had a bulking garage sale Coleman 2-burner. It was clunky. Carried the greasy cast iron burner plates in an outside compartment and tucked the award stove under my dinnet. After rolling bouncing climbing on the backroads of the north rim of the Grand Canyon my old stove was dented and pound itself while it scratched up floor and cabinet doors. With this compact Base Camp my worries are gone, just zip it up and it fits in one of my compartments. I hope to use in boat camping on Lake Powell, too (if the water comes back). compact and powerful cooking station

First off just buy a new 10-20$ hose reg for this, Home Depot has plenty. The people giving up on this excellent piece of equipment cause of an easily replaced accessory are just goofy. -1 star for the fact that it comes with a cheap accessory reg.Now that you’ve got a hose reg you’ve got a monster of a cooking station. It folds up well, boils quick, and uses normal ol propane. Probably the best designed burner system, packs in an overland really well and has a cool storage case that keeps your pots & pan & reg organized.
