I do enjoy my yearly treat from JML, and long may it continue! And this year, wow... When I initially sprayed Cypress and Grapevine (C&G) I was worried it would be too heady or strong, but I'm happy to report, at least for me, it is perfect.C&G is the type of scent where you can actually smell your own fragrance, and when you leave the room and re-enter, you get this blast of fragrance from it lingering in the air and on person; it is most definitely a head turner.C&G of course combines superbly with 'Fig and Lotus Flower,' though I'm pretty confident it would also combine wonderfully well with Myrrh & Tonka or Dark Amber & Gingerlily for a warmer scent, or you could freshen it up with Basil & Neroli (maybe the cremes of the aforementioned and the C&G ... MoreI do enjoy my yearly treat from JML, and long may it continue! The scent of fragrance, as I'm sure most of you reading this review will already know, differs from one person to the next; sex, age, skin temperature, skin type, season, and environment are just some of the factors.I am absolutely going to be buying a 100ml of C&G this month. if you are on the lookout for a new fragrance, or fancy a change, definitely pop along to your local boutique and give this one a whirl.

This is a product that I suspect will divide opinion- but I love it! It has a really disctinctive, almost masculine and peppery top note on me to begin with, and settles down to a more sensual woody smell. At first I wasn't sure it could be used as a daytime scent- it is powerful, as a cologne intense- but layered with wood sage and sea salt body creme it makes a gorgeous, unusual combination that I have been wearing all week with many compliments . For evening, it is gorgeous alone, or with rosewater and oud body oil underneath to tone down the masculinity if needed.Transports next to the Middle East- one to wear when you want to feel powerful and in control!

This was my first foray into Jo Malone cologne and has unfortunately been a disappointing one. I received superb service at their Edinburgh store, and initial impressions of the product in-store were great. However, having trialled Cypress & Grapevine Cologne Intense for a month now, I have found that the scent barely lingers beyond (even generous) application, and is almost immediately imperceptible. Given the price-point and reputation of Jo Malone products, I had hoped for a much better experience. Regretfully, I fear my first purchase of their cologne will be my last.

I have been on the hunt for a fall/winter scent. I bought this product as the name intrigued me and when I read the notes I couldn't help but want to know what it smelled like.I am deeply impressed by this scent. It is unique - especially compared to what I am traditionally drawn to.I usually go for more fruity or floral smells, but I've been curious about spicy and woodsy smells as of recent. When I read the Cypress note - I was a bit worried that this would be completely overbearing to the grapevine part of the fragrance. It's not. When you first put on the cologne the cypress is initial key note, but after about 15-20 minutes the grapevine note really comes out to sweeten the overall smell. The blend of the two is lovely. The more I wear the cologne, the more that I get the mossy undertone as well (especially when I put it on my clothes! The grapevine is more prominent when I spray this on my skin).I find this smell is spicy, sexy, and sparks a warmth to the wearer. I recommend wearing it a few times before drawing a final judgement - especially if you wear fruity and floral scents typically. To pick up on the layers of this smell, when you aren't accustomed to the key notes within it, would be difficult at first.Overall though I am deeply enjoying this smell. It's perfect for the fall and winter. I actually purchased the fig and lotus since it was recommended to wear with this scent just because I enjoy the product so much. With it being a cologne, the intensity of the lasting power isn't as strong as a perfume. However, I can have it on for well over 8 hours and the scent still lingers.I recommend giving this product a chance if you're trying to diversify your fragrances and I recommend this to anyone who naturally loves the woodsy and clean smell - You will love this smell.
We purchased this cologne for our sons 10th birthday. It was the only thing he asked for! He's loved it since trying a sample of it from one of mum's orders. The look on my his face when he received it was the best thing in the world! I get those smiles every day now when he puts it on each morning, and now every time I smell it, I'm reminded of him. "Scent is the strongest tie to memory". I'll probably start wearing this when he decides he's too cool to hang out with me anymore:( It smells very masculine and expensive. And the longevity is great. Will definitely repurchase!
I absolutely love cypress and grapevine. I've been looking for a fragrance that I can call my signature scent and I've finally found it! Beautifully woody and masculine. After wearing this for the first time in my office I received 2 compliments, one being from my boss who asked me what I was wearing. If you are looking for a versatile fragrance go with this as it works just as well during the day and is also perfect for a night out! Would 100% recommend this, never ever discontinue!
Despite being quite a male scent, this is an absolute winner for me. I received it as a free sample a year or two ago and I'm now on my second full-sized bottle. It still feels like swoon at first sniff whenever I spray it. My daughter and sister-in-law have gone out and bought it too after smelling it on me! Please Jo Malone, please do not discontinue this.
This was not a planned buy until I received a sample of this product and the Fig released at the same time in a sample test kit from Jo Malone. This is not a scent I would describe myself as normally gravitating to as until this I never owned any of the Intense Malone fragrances. To get a better idea of my scent profile, I have: Grapefruit, Sweet Lemon, Blackberry & Bay, Poppy & Barley, a variety of special Herb releases and Garden releases over the years in smaller sizes. This was one of my true larger size splurges, and I find it nice to smell on my skin as I go to bed or in the morning, like an embrace from the past. I’m familiar with the amber notes, and I tolerate them in Orange Bitters as I also own that too. If you can secure a sample please so, this for you ... MoreThis was not a planned buy until I received a sample of this product and the Fig released at the same time in a sample test kit from Jo Malone. This is not a scent I would describe myself as normally gravitating to as until this I never owned any of the Intense Malone fragrances. I find it goes well with Grapefruit, Fig (also released with it in the same collection), and Verbenas of Provence (recently re-released in the Malone Archive collection) which is sadly not available here. Hope you have a chance to try and find it a new favorite as well.
Although this strong and very, almost heady, scent isn't unpleasant, it feels like it tries very hard to have masculine appeal.I generally shy away from gendering fragrance, irrespective of a manufactures recommendation or marketing...But there are certain tropes, and sometimes even cliches within fragrance that lead to certain masculine or feminine feelings. And to me, this smelt like pretty much every generic 'man smell' out there.Perhaps slightly more refined, I think it could be the inclusion of moss that is the saving grace. All that said, despite not being the biggest fan of Cypress and Grapevine worn alone - It actually combines beautifully with so many others.I took this on holiday, so wore lighter scents in the day, then elevated them in the evening by ... MoreAlthough this strong and very, almost heady, scent isn't unpleasant, it feels like it tries very hard to have masculine appeal.I generally shy away from gendering fragrance, irrespective of a manufactures recommendation or marketing...But there are certain tropes, and sometimes even cliches within fragrance that lead to certain masculine or feminine feelings. And to me, this smelt like pretty much every generic 'man smell' out there.Perhaps slightly more refined, I think it could be the inclusion of moss that is the saving grace. All that said, despite not being the biggest fan of Cypress and Grapevine worn alone - It actually combines beautifully with so many others.I took this on holiday, so wore lighter scents in the day, then elevated them in the evening by adding Cypress & Grapevine. After smelling a sample which smelt lovely, my aunty purchased a bottle for my wedding day scent. However, after trialling it for the last week, it smells totally different on my skin and causes me to have severe headaches. As you can imagine I am absolutely devasted and now having to reconsider an alternative fragrance for our big day. Such a shame and feel guilty as my aunty spent her money on a product I'm unable to use.
