At a Christmas celebration they had a game based around choosing a number from a cap. After you picked a number you at that point found the pack with that number and whats inside is yours. I picked number 10 and inside was a 375ml container score for me. Ive attempted this previously however it had been about a year (plus or minus) and I dont recollect much about my experience. I wound up attempting to taste this three distinct ways slick sprinkle of separated water and a major ice 3D square. My most loved of the three was flawless as I believed I got the most flavors from along these lines. A blend of smoke flavor vanilla and even smidge of mint. It was alright yet not a similar encounter as it was straight perfect. With a major ice shape I sensed that it dissipated all flavors. Particularly when I took my last taste. This was my least most loved approach to taste this mixed scotch. I recollect when I use to consistently drink my bourbon on the rocks. Throughout the most recent year or somewhere in the vicinity I cant do it any longer I dont appear to have that equivalent upbeat experience I have when its room temperature. I have not perused the audits for this however Im truly satisfied with whats inside this container. I came in with low desires being it has a 2.2 score here and I feel this performs well over that score. I currently have the inclination to attempt other mixed scotches with an accentuation on the peat/smokiness. I am available to all proposals for anyone that runs over this audit.

Nose: Some fruity oat and malty fragrances and a trace of foundation smoke. A conspicuous liquor note from the grain whisky center. A straightforward nose which isn't fascinating however not off-putting either. Sense of taste: The flavor is somewhat fruity in a conventional manner and there is some light smokiness. The mouth-feel isn't really awful delicate and simple drinking with a light pepper hotness. Finish: What finish? Short kindly as it is somewhat harsh and severe/acrid. Helpless old Red Name - it gets some fire for being undistinguished and creation line and most likely likewise on the grounds that it is simply so notable and accessible. I think some of the time there is a suspicion that it simply must be sub-par. In any case this isn't a whisky to enjoy slick and consider over - it is a blender that ought to be taken with ice loads of pop or soda or added to espresso or tea. In that setting it works fine and dandy. It's a basic nose yet there's noticing amiss with it. In the past I've noticed a black out hint of smoke however it's missing from this specific packaging. Correction: On the dry glass there is only the faintest whiff of wood-smoke. Sense of taste: A sweet appearance that is gently malty and enigmatically fruity. Usually, I go into a grandiose introduction, and I give a history of the brand and background on the type of whisky. I’ll include some information, but today I’m exploring the best-selling Scotch whisky in the world: Johnnie Walker Red Label. I want to skip the typical introduction because Red Label is the standard-bearer for bad Scotch if you listen to folks in social media groups. But, at the same time, it is the best-selling Scotch in the world. While everyone’s palate is different, this is one of those things that you can’t have both ways. Either it is a terrible whisky, or it is drinkable. I would expect some back-peddling from the naysayers who will then suggest, Well, it is a mixer. I’ll take that comment at face value because even Johnnie Walker’s website says, Made for Mixing. However, if you’ve followed me for some time, you’ll remember that I don’t do the mixer game. Whisky has to stand on its own – good, bad, or ugly to rate on the Bottle, Bar, or Bust scale. And, for the record, there are perfectly drinkable made-for-mixing whiskies that require no accompaniments. Let’s talk about Red Label. It is the entry-level Scotch under the Johnnie Walker brand and has been in production since 1909. It is a blend of 35 malt and grain whiskies sourced from various distilleries around Scotland. It carries no age statement, and you can expect to pay about $22.99 for a 750ml package. You can find this at pretty much every liquor, grocery, and convenience store – at least in the United States. I’ve never had Red Label before. I snagged a 50ml for about $2.99 at some random liquor store for the express purpose of a review. So, let’s #DrinkCurious and learn the truth about it. Appearance: Served neat in my Glencairn glass, Red Label was presented as golden, forming a medium-thin rim. Fat, slow tears fell back into the pool. Nose: I smelled lemon zest, lime, and floral notes. The aroma was straightforward. When I drew the air into my mouth, there was no flavor I could identify, but it was decidedly dry. I’ll say that’s something I’ve never experienced with a whisky. Palate: I didn’t expect the creamy texture; I figured it would be thin. There’s a lesson for you – expect nothing and keep an open mind. Red Label had one of the most unusual palates I’ve experienced. The front was spicy and bold with freshly-cracked black pepper and cinnamon. Mid-palate offered flavors of pear, vanilla, and barley. The back featured raisin, citrus, and mild oak. Finish: You might expect the finish to remain fruity. Instead, the spice from the front of the palate carried into the finish. Moreover, it was slightly smoky. There was some citrus, but that was overwhelmed amongst the other flavors. The whole thing was long and lingering. Bottle, Bar, or Bust: Johnnie Walker Red Label is drinkable neat. Frankly, there’s nothing wrong with it. It is a simple whisky that could work well in a cocktail with its spicy front and finish, and I’m not talking “and Coke.†Would I buy a 750ml for my whiskey library? No. For me, it lacks the depth and character I crave. Would I refuse a pour from a friend? Also, no. Red Label earns a Bar rating; it is something that would work well for the Scotch curious but would likely bore the connoisseur. Cheers! My Simple, Easy to Understand Rating SystemBottle = Buy ItBar = Try ItBust = Leave It Whiskeyfellow encourages you to enjoy your whiskey as you see fit but begs you do so responsibly.
I have poured JW Red from your newer glass bottle into my old bottle with a handle. Why? Because I love the control and ease of the bottle with a handle. Now I’m seeing plastic bottles which undoubtedly have microscopic plastics in them and I’m now pouring from a plastic bottle into my old JW glass bottle with a handle. It is not a happy situation that you are putting us in.GO BACK TO THE GLASS BOTTLE W/HANDLE
I have been drinking Johnny Walker Red for over 40 years and I really enjoy the taste. So a while back you took the Handel's off of the bottles, and I thought okay they must be trying to save a couple cents. Know I picked up a couple 1/2 gallons and you made them out of some flimzee plastic and with no pourer. So in my opinion it is Know just a run of the mill cheap Scotch and have not even seen a price reduction. I use to be proud to say that it was my every day drink, kinda embarrassing to break out the plastic bottle.Jay Tebell
- I intensely disliked the first iteration new glass bottle. Hard to hold! The"handle" bottles were much better! I transferred to old bottle with handles.- Second iteration of new plastic bottle is much, much better.-- NO PLASTIC POURING SPOUT IS BAD. Very hard to control pouring intoa jigger.- Recommendation for third iteration new bottle.-- PLASTIC BOTTLE WITH HANDLES AND POURING SPOUT
As far as a scotch for cocktails, or with soda, or on the rocks, or (I hate to admit it) as a shot with a glass of stout, this isn't bad. It has a hint of smoke and a decent, if not robust, body. I'd had Dewars for years but it started tasting like scotch-flavored vodka, too heavy on the grain alcohol, and JWR has more character than this. I agree that it's pretty cheesy of JW to sell the 1.75 in a plastic bottle. I'd expect that kind of thing from Early Times or some other budget offering. JWR may not be premium but it deserves more respect than this.
