Jones Mind Expander Twin Snowboard - 2023

The Mind Expander is an alternative all-mountain board that wants to slash every terrain feature in sight. Surf shaper Chris Christenson and Jeremy Jones designed the Mind Expander for the creative rider who draws lines blending freestyle, freeride and surf styles. The blunted nose, full size tail, tight sidecut, and 3D Contour Base 3.0 offer the nimble maneuverability of a directional board matched with the all-mountain performance of a directional twin. New for 22/23, the Mind Expander now features a Surf Camber profile for better edge hold in variable conditions and the stance was moved forward 20mm for improved carving performance. To keep the playful board feel, the Bamboo Surf Core has V-core profiling that gives the board a softer flex between the feet for easy turn initiation and a stiffer flex in the tips so you won’t fold the nose. The Mind Expander is also built with Basalt Power Stringers for edge response, Rounded Recycled ABS Sidewalls for topsheet durability, and a super fast Sintered 8000 base.

Great board to add to the quiver. Pretty versatile. Surfy ride. Highly recommend it but do your homework first or demo one to be sure this is the kind of board you want.

If you ride in the Northwest and are looking for a powder board, stop here. I have been loving being able to size down on these new surf inspired boards because it makes them excel in the trees. The massive rockered nose will plow through anything and float for days. Just stiff enough in the tail that you can still get back to the chairlift or get around the second half of the day when the fresh snow is gone. Get out and Rip!

Funnest board ever
18 January 2019

I've ridden this board on a deep pow day at Squaw, on hard pack at Kirkwood, and pow at Kirkwood. I was coming from the Hovercraft, which is a very different board, so it took me half the day to dial in my approach to the board. Then it clicked. It is fun to ride on any condition of snow. It is literally meant to surf. You can slash anything. It doesn't hold an edge as aggressively as a traditional camber board - obviously - but once you get the hang of it, you can rail this thing just as fast. I also found it confidence inspiring for going off natural terrain features. I am more of a side-country powder hound and never got into popping off of things, but this board is like a magical landing gear and gave me a lot of confidence in catching air as much as possible. ... MoreI've ridden this board on a deep pow day at Squaw, on hard pack at Kirkwood, and pow at Kirkwood. It truly is a magic carpet. I am 6' 2" 205 lbs and I got the 158 (2018 model) and it's perfect.

Great powder board
5 March 2015

having spent a week with this board in 30-50cm board, I can definitely say it's a great powder board and can be highly recommended for that. If you a looking for an all round board you might want to check out something else thoug because working through icy moguls and groomed piste is a bit of a chore. But in powder it's great

It's a great powder board to enjoy but the top paint got chipped off significantly after just 1 time of play! Maybe just this model got this problem I hope!

I'm 5'8, 150 lbs and am a confident snowboarder who loves groomers but also enjoys fast, steep, powder runs. I had only ever ridden hybrid boards so this was the first time I had tried a rocker profile. I can't speak highly enough of this board, it blew my mind. It almost felt like it was turning for me, it is so so surfy and playful. It is super nimble and easy to get creative on. It handles really well in powder as well as on groomers.

Want more power? Just add camber
1 February 2022

Maybe it was because it was a size up, or I was mentally comparing this with the non-cambered version I've ridden in past, but this board didn't give me quite what I wanted. With the addition of the camber it became a lot more versatile, but lost a bit of the magic I'd known before. It did love to be on edge, but that big nose really grabbed quickly and took control.
