Joolca Hottap Outing V2 Portable Hot Water System

An outdoor shower with a simple portable hot water kit? How good does that sound? Well now you can have just that with the Joolca Hottap V2 Outing Portable Hot Water Kit. One of the smallest water heaters in its class. This fast set-up, one touch operation hot water kit is perfect for washing off without the hassle of needing a public restroom, allowing you to avoid all the germs that would come with it. Built to home standards the new HOTTAP has over 15 hour run time on a single gas tank. Especially in winter with a 27, 000-BTU burner you will have a steaming hot shower at the flick of a switch and with up to 6 litres per minute of flow, it'll get through any head of hair. The accessories you get help elevate your showering outdoor experience, with a magnet mount which allows you to stick the shower head to any metal surface, or hang it from a hook to have a standing shower. The modular showerhead also allows for handheld showering to get in all the hard to reach places, applying a direct stream to a specifically grimy area of your body after a long day of outdoor adventuring. Optimise the spray of the showerhead with the different flow rates and angles. The water intake features a two-stage filter that will remove everything but the very finest sediments, and it's sturdy enough to be thrown into shallow rivers and creeks. What's more, it's easy to clean. No tools required, simply untwist the cover and pull apart, then flush out with water before putting back together. The powerful pump self-primes to 1.8m and can push water up to 30m up an incline. Now you will finally be able to truly connect to nature. The pump is rated to IPX3, so you can leave it out in the rain, hail and shine. And don't worry if there's a limited water supply - the pump won't be damaged by running dry.

Amazing product but luckily we opened the box before our trip

We absolutely love the joolca. The only reason I haven’t given a 5 star is that it wasn’t disclosed upon purchase that it has the new gas bottle fitting. Luckily we opened it before our trip to Fraser to find that the gas bottle fitting wouldn’t go on any of our gas bottles. We then brought a separate fitting but it too didn’t work. We had to use our old gas bottle hose from our old shower.

Excellent product when working but i had a couple of issues. The main one being that the fitting supplied for the connection to the Gas bottle did not fit my current bottle or a brand new one i purchased. I had to go to BCF and spend $104.98 on a new hose and brass fitting/quick coupling. I put the supplied hose to the side and did not use it. I would have assumed having spent top dollar the supplied hose/fitting would fit a normal gas bottle (if you look to photo above, this is a normal fitting - this was not the one supplied with my kit. Nice and hot.

I used this for the first time a few weeks ago near Halls Gap Vic, and I absolutely loved it. I also bought the single ensuite and that worked so well with it. Set a big drum of creek water outside the tent and away we all went with our showers. The hottap all clicked together with ease and just worked straight off the bat. I did have a problem with the power input from cigarette socket for the pump, but got by just jamming it a little to kink the wires to make it work again. Got in touch with Joolca the next day when I’m range and they were on it with another one sent out for nothing, so super impressed with that as well. Kicked myself for not taking a photo but found the whole thing easy to use.The thought put into the ensuite tent and the ease of setup was just ... MoreI used this for the first time a few weeks ago near Halls Gap Vic, and I absolutely loved it. Towel stayed dry along with change of clothes and plenty of room. Had a 6ft 3” mate that had no problems with it and was very spacious. Some other ones I’ve owned in the past have been hard to setup and pack down, but this was a piece of cake to do both. Super impressed.I did find the coolest setting wasn’t cool enough on a warm night, so assume through winter months camping that this will come into its own.

Outing kit review
27 June 2022

We purchased the hot tap and found the set up easy to use. It doesn’t chug through water which is great when you have little water source. The shower head does dribble a bit for a short time after use,, but that can in handy to quickly wash you face that last little bit. Our only suggestion for Joolca is to make the battery section more secure. It popped of on us while driving which left us hunting through our packed car trying to find it. Having a hot shower in the outback really is a luxury and we love using our hot tap on our trips. :)

Read all the instructions
23 January 2023

We followed the instructions and tested the unit before camping. Awesome it works first time, ever time. Packed and headed camping.Heart break, all set up at the camp site and now it's not working. Dead, nothing just water flow. We have no reception to check fault findings.Headed into town and down loaded some fault finding checks and bought another set of batteries.Bleed the gas lines, changed the batteries and followed all the advise.Turn all the dials down to low and gave it another go. Instant Hot Water. Woohoo.Turns out our existing pump which is not that old does not flow enough water. There's good pressure just not enough.Lesson learnt, try all the parts at home and don't relay on mains water for pressure. My family love it.

The outing kit is one of those things you wonder why you didn’t buy years ago. We came across from another similar style hot water unit that was always inconsistent with temperature and glitchy to get working. The joolca held its temp nicely and was never an issue getting started. The pump made life even easier. We were able to pull up at any creek on Fraser Island and refill our water tank, hose the windows clean and even hose the kids off before they’d get in the car.

So far so good
4 April 2022

Have only just unpacked it and tried it once and so far so good. Beware to get the water flowing the correct way through the handpiece or you will be literally tearing your hair out and calling the unit every name imaginable. Haha. Once i worked out that the handpiece was around the wrong way and the water actually shut off using the switch on the handpiece it was so much better. It heated quite cold water up very well whilst still having ample water to shower under. Good quality by the feels of everything. I would so far definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a camping hot water unit.

These guys always have your back

Joolca are SOOOO amazing with customer service. When it came time to replace my joolca V1, I knew I would be well looked after if I came back to joolca. As a single lady living totally off grid in a remote area, my options to call on folk are limited. With the impeccable service I had received throughout the three years of using my hottap v1, there really was nowhere else I looked. Whenever I make contact with joolca service, they are helpful and humorous - which is what calms me the most. They never talk down to me for being a girl and don't make me feel silly when I do things that would make most men roll their eyes and pat me on the head. I'm truly, heartfelt grateful to your service and write this with tears of gratitude, cos man..It's a relief to know there are ... MoreJoolca are SOOOO amazing with customer service. The system is super easy to set up, just three connections plus the pump. I bought a separate 12v/240v converter for the off mains pump to run on. Connects easily to my solar system and barely causes a dint in batteries, so i can use it anytime of day. Just remember to take the little red things out of the pump inlet/outlet before you connect hoses. Water pressure is firm and the waterfall is pretty wide. Easy to self diagnose problems. I love the LCD screen on this version as it helps get problems solved a lot quicker. Yay joolca! I'm a believer. I might even write a song about you guys.

We have outdoor showers as an after school activity now. No more fights
12 February 2022

We love this hot tap. We borrowed a friends when we had bathroom renovations and fellIn love with showering outside. It hardly ever fails, and if the ignition doesn’t work usually it’s from rain so I will be upgrading with the weather casing I’ve seen advertised. I wouldn’t recommend bothering with other brands and this one never fails. Only negative is that I believe the pump needs a car connection to work, I wish it used battery or plugged in as we could have used it to save water and keep cycling the water through the bath for the kids on colder nights.

Winter Camping now not so chilly
5 August 2021

It initially took us a bit of fiddling with the Joolca to get the settings right, but oh boy, once we did that shower was steaming hot……even hotter than my shower at home, sure made winter camping so much more pleasurable. The fact that you can pump from a bucket or any other natural water source is a winner as it doesn’t waste your precious on board water. A little tip that we found was not to turn the tap off when soaping up as it then takes a bit for the water to get warm again when turned back on, therefor wasting water. What we did was simply put the nozzle in the bucket and kept it running. Communication with Joolca up to point of purchase was absolutely first rate, as for after sales I can’t comment and hopefully will never have to..
