I’m finding these awkward to use. I was hoping they would open as wide as the other pair of small thongs that I have (which JJ do not seem to be selling anymore), I bought these to work with the likes of schnitzels but if your pan is on a deeper side, they’re extremely inconvenient to use. Which they would be if they opened nice and wide. So only two stars from me.

These tongs don't come all the way together as they have a plastic clip which stops them from doing so. They are ok for lifting large things out of a pan but if you want to turn some bacon or similar they are rubbish at it. Simple metal tongs with rubber ends are much better. Would not buy again.

I am a massive Joseph and Joseph fan, and have most things from the bin to the washing up bowl, so when I saw these they were a must have - wrong. They are Impossible to use. I have tried about every kind of food, they just don't pick anything up honestly ! I have used and unwrapped them now so I can't return them. A complete waste of money

These things look great, but are useless at gripping food. Because of the clips which hold the tongs together on the inside of the arms, the actual tips of the tongs do not touch each other which means that you cannot pick up food, it just slips out. So far I've tried burgers, chicken and vegetables and they were terrible to use. Very disappointed as normally Joseph Joseph is a very reliable brand.I would return these, but cannot as we are stuck at home shielding.
Design looks lovely and rubberi/silicone grips should work well but the hook for locking the tongs together when not in use is badly positioned. This means you can't pinch the tongs together at the most natural angle. It's fine if you're trying to pick up a thick food item but very impractical for turning bacon for example. The lock is a good ergonomic feature for storage purposes but sadly not when in use. I expect better design/product testing from Joseph Joseph.
I mostly use these tongs when frying and grilling meats. They are quite adaptable though, and can be used when stir frying vegetables. They are comfortable in the hand and the clasp used to secure the tongs when in the closed position is straightforward and easy to use. As some of the reviewers state, they do not have a tight pinch to enable you to pick up certain foods but I think it misses the point. These, as stated in the description, were designed primarily as turning tongs. To be able to scoop under a steak for example and it performs this well. I am happy with my purchase.
Should have read about the size of these tongs before I purchased them they are rather large. They are not very good for picking up smaller items like Bacon as there is a clip in the middle of the tongs which prevents them from coming together like normal tongs. Ideal for larger items such as chicken portions though.
Very nice quality tongs. For some reason they caught my eye for their orange bits. I don't know why, but that was enough to convince me that I needed to have these.But also, I have bought cheaper tongs that have not lasted well at all. And I really wanted some that would survive the dishwasher. These feel well made and strong. The design of the 'latch' which clips the arms together for storage, or to stop them just being unwieldy, is excellent and welcome.
Wish I'd read reviews before buying these. Instead am throwing them out. Genuinely these cannot grip anything you're trying to pick up which is kind of the point of tongs. When you squeeze to grip the locking mechanism gets in the way and pushes the tongy bit apart again. Useless!
My wife wanted new spatula/tongs, I trawled the internet and found Joseph turner tongs which looked well made and at an extremely cheap price. Another reason for purchase was the promised short delivery date, unfortunately this was not met, but I was regularly updated. Bottom line this is one of the best products I have ever purchased, would highly recomend.
