Ill be honest. I was so excited to order this. I am a crazy person who compacts my can with a piece of cardboard (cereal box).This came in, and I was so proud. No longer will I be the crazy person that stands on a garbage can, and now I have a true, compacted can.Problem 1. The bags the send are trash bags (pun international). Ive felt thicker and stronger tissues.Problem 2. The compactor mechanism feels.. flimsy. It flexes and deforms.Problem 3. The mechanism actually seals the bag somewhat. So, instead of crushed garbage, you get an air bubble.Problem 4. This is the biggest issue, the bags constantly fall off causing you to attempt to pull the bags up, thus tearing the bag.For the price, Im highly discouraged. I regret this purchase.

I really, really wanted to love it. I found that the compactor really is not durable or heavy duty, the 'heavy duty' special bags that it uses tear easily and it's almost impossible to pull a truly full compacted bag out of the can without tearing the entire plastic tie/string through the bag. After 6 months of wrestling with it to get a full bag of trash out of it at every change, having to half shimmy the top into another fresh garbage bag (from day 1). the lid spring mechanism in the top just popped out and rendered the lid useless... unless I was okay with leaving it open all the time because it never closed right again. Quite a disappointment.

When I first saw this item I was so excited! I really had high hopes. Well, just like everything else that I've purchased in the last century or so, this item has WAY too many flaws to make it worth its price. First of all, the cheap bags do NOT withstand the compressing of the garbage! So get ready to patch all the HOLES in the bag! Also, the garbage SMELLS HORRIBLE after one week! The odor eaters or whatever they call them do absolutely NOTHING to stop the STINK! Next, the bags are SOOO overpriced! This product is sitting UNUSED in my house and I'm pretty sure it will remain that way.

Doesn't hold bags correctly

Have tried several different types of compactor rated trash bags including the exact fit Joseph Joseph 50L bags meant for this can. NONE of them stay in the holding slots the way that they are supposed to. I've YouTubed videos on how to install the bags and have tried several different ways. All of the types of bags that I've tried so far become detached from the compactor and fall down inside the can. Not a very effective product. Especially for the cost. It's a sleek looking trash can but not worth the price.

This is solid and substantial, it works fine as a foot pedal bin. The pedal mechanism feels good quality. I'm reasonably happy with it, but not sure it's worth the price.As a 30L bin, the overall size of the bin itself is larger than most of that size, so in part defeating the object of a small bin for a large volume of waste. The size is more like a 40-50 litre bin footprint.The compacting mechanism works though pulling the handle back up does cause the rubbish to partially expand again, not as big as it was before though. You also get a lovely gust of bin aroma on compacting as you push all the air out of the garbage. Looks great but doesn't actually

Looks great but doesn't actually compact for us at all!We do everything as instructed, but it doesn't reduce the load, and all litter just springs back up/re-expands. Bags dont hold on the lip as the bin becomes more full, so constantly having to pull sides back up and reattach. Perhaps we've just not got the nack? Wouldn't recommend at all, just go for the cheaper, standard bin as this is all this has amounted to being.

Not great!!

I really did want to like it but now I'm stuck with a regular stainless steel trash can. I paid the price for it because of the compactor feature. The compactor feature doesn't work as I thought it would. The trash bag never stays attached in the side slots when I press on it to compact whatever trash is in the can. The top squeaks every time it is closing. It definitely does not work like a $210 trash can. What was I thinking

Terrible quality, not worth the money

So many things wrong with this bin. 1) the compactor feature hardly compacts and makes an absolute mess even with the Joseph Joseph bin liners. 2) the lid doesn't open far enough, it's really frustrating when trying to use it. 3) the lid doesn't sit flush when closed, allowing for an obvious odour. 3) the filters do nothing. 4) the three year guarantee is useless when the "Joseph Joseph" team do not answer their own customer support emails, avoiding me when I am asking for help after spending over AUD$400 on a rubbish bin.

Trash can broke after only a month!

I purchased this trash can this Christmas. A week ago, I tried to use the compactor function and a plastic part on the side broke. Now the compactor does not work and the trash can cannot even hold a trash bag. i have emailed customer service and have not received a response. After not hearing back from customer service I did some digging and found out that it is common for people not to hear back from customer service for months. Unacceptable! Beware of buying from this company.
