Jujutsu Kaisen: A Descent into Darkness Yuji Itadori is determined to shield the world from cursed demons, but he soon discovers that the ultimate path to salvation demands a chilling sacrifice: the gradual erosion of his humanity as he transforms into the very entity he seeks to destroy! In a world plagued by demons preying on unsuspecting humans, the scattered fragments of the infamous demon Ryoma Sukuna hold immense power. Should any demon consume Sukuna’s remains, they could gain unimaginable strength and plunge the world into chaos. Amidst this darkness, a secretive school of Jujutsu Sorcerers emerges, dedicated to safeguarding the delicate balance between the living and the undead. Yuji Itadori, a seemingly ordinary high schooler, possesses extraordinary physical prowess that sets him apart. Despite numerous offers to join sports clubs, Yuji prefers the company of the school’s Occult Club. One fateful day, the club stumbles upon a sealed cursed object, unaware of the terror they are about to unleash upon the world.

Even though the product photos of the inside of the book are in Japanese, this is actually the English version. The book came shrink wrapped, but somehow some corners had some minor damages and folds.I was pleasantly surprised that this book includes extra character descriptions, tidbits from the author, and extra artwork in between the 6 chapters in the book, which covers material through the first half of the 4th episode, and even has a different bonus skit at the end of the book than any shown at the end of the episodes.A highly recommended anime/manga of the supernatural genre with strong female characters who can hold their own against their male counterparts and no wimpy characters.

100% RECOMMEND 10/10

I have been talking up this series on every social media platform that I can because it deserves recognition. I loved this first volume because it set up the stories and characters so well, in my opinion. The series is getting an anime adaptation this year (2020) and I am so excited to see it on the screed just from these chapters alone. I started reading it online at viz's SJ site because I was too impatient to wait for the next physical copy, but not all of the chapters are backlogged on there.

A new favorite!

This book is amazing!!! I figured I would like the story just from the pieces I knew about it, but the story and characters blew me away! It's been really hard finding the other volumes and it makes complete sense. I can only imagine it gets even better from here.

A roller coaster of a ride

Jujutsu kaisen is personally one of my favourite series of all time. The dark genre while being lighthearted is a perfect mixture for a great series. It's among the likes of chainsaw man in the manga world. I highly recommend jujutsu kaisen and I'm sure you won't regret it!

Amazing start

A great start to a great series. Introduction to 3 very important character and sets up Yuji to be an amazing protagonist. If you like Naruto, Bleach or My Hero this is definitely a series for you. The quality only improves as time goes on.

An interesting start, but I hope it builds from here
21 January 2020

I'm a pretty regular reader of shonen manga and particularly battle manga, so take that as context here. I'm saying that up front, because I think if you're not used to the conventions of shonen comics, you may actually get into this first volume a lot more easily than I did. Because there's nothing bad here. The art is expressive and appropriately unsettling at times. The disorienting start is really well put together, and I like the collection of characters this book puts together in the first volume. The setup is simple, but interesting and can offer a lot of different ways for powers to interact and to challenge our core group. That being said -- and here's where the history of reading battle manga comes into play -- the whole first volume does feel kind of ... MoreI'm a pretty regular reader of shonen manga and particularly battle manga, so take that as context here. And the interesting things weren't quite enough to make me forget that all the steps this book takes are the exact steps I would have expected it to take. Again, it's not a bad thing per se, but it kept me from getting truly immersed or truly excited about it.That's why I gave this a 3-star rating. It does what it does well, but if I'm going to get past the second volume, it needs to start surprising me a little and getting me more invested.

Best modern dark shonen
14 October 2022

Transitioning from anime to manga was easy, as Gege Akutami has a unique, distinctive art style that is greatly suited for a battle manga like this. From volume one, I have been glued to the pages, and I'm glad to have read up to date instead of waiting for the next season. Besides Chainsaw man, it is my favourite dark modern shonen.

Definitely recommend!
22 May 2022

As someone who has watched the anime before reading the manga, I was still able to enjoy reading Vol 1 and the quirkiness that came along with the illustrations and characters! If you're wanting to start a manga, this would be great, especially for any comedy and action lovers. Additionally, the quality of the book itself was top-notch, no complaints and shipped fast too!

Absolutely beautiful quality and content. I love it. Also, this was the only place I could find it where it wasn’t overpriced. Everywhere else had a rediculous wait time. Very satisfied with my purchase!

Necessary for any JJK fan!
14 November 2021

Don't pass this up! If you're a fan of JJK, this is a must to own. If you've only watched the anime, definitely pick up the manga and give it a read because it's just as amazing! I binge-read this series digitally and am now collecting physical copies. It's been so hard to find Vol 1 and I'm so happy Hot Topic had it back in stock! One thing to note is that, even though the pics show the Japanese text, the manga is in English. It arrived wrapped and in perfect condition
