I'm really impressed with this machine! The price is right on, the features are just right for my needs, it's super quiet, and the machine runs like silk. I should have bought this machine instead of the Singer 9960. Thank you Juki for a magnificent machine.

Amazing machine! It is so smooth and quiet. I don't knits why I waited so long to upgrade. Such a great purchase!
I have another Juki, the TL2010, so I knew about Juki's quality when I considered this HZL DX5. I was looking for a machine able to do more than a straight stitch that was able to be programmed. I've had it over a week now, and sewn with it most days, both trying out the programmed stitches, sewing garments and piecing quilt blocks. Programmed some custom stitches with the help of the manual. I love the features on this machine - the pivot function is awesome and lets you keep both hands on your fabrics to ensure alignment or to remove pins at the right spot. The automatic threader works very well for me, and the bobbin winding function works great - just wish it filled the bobbins a bit more full for when I use a slider on the surface. The automatic threader works very well for me, and the bobbin winding function works great - just wish it filled the bobbins a bit more full for when I use a slider on the surface. The stitch quality is beautiful and the decorative stitches all you can want. The machine is quiet, also bobbin winding is quiet. The walking foot is a bit noisier, but not unpleasantly so. Walking foot works great and has a guide that can be used right or left side. Very convenient. The only negative for me as a US resident is that the inch measurements on the stitch plate are at the back and metric at the front. Not a dealbreaker for me, and it's actually us that are out of step with the rest of the world. I love this machine already, and I have not free motion quilted with it yet.
I picked up this Juki DX5 and extension table on sale. Carolina Forest Vac sent it out the same day of the order. Their price was the best to be found. It came in 2 separate boxes (machine and table) and was delivered within the delivery days listed. The machine arrived safely and works perfectly. I've been using the machine for about a week and love it. The extra foot lift height is fantastic for the bulky items I sew. The buttonholer has several patterns to choose from and after a little stitching I found the one I like. I do think having the knobs of the DX7 would be nice because using the buttons to change from needle position of 3.5 to 6.5 is time consuming and finger fatiguing. However, I've not tried just holding the button down to see if it will continue to ... MoreI picked up this Juki DX5 and extension table on sale. However, I've not tried just holding the button down to see if it will continue to loop through settings. I do like how many needle positions the machine has. I'm still playing with the foot control. I have it set to lift presser foot because the knee control is just uncomfortable for me. I like that depending on what I'm doing I can set the foot control for different end of sewing tasks. I have not used the float yet. The decorative and font stitches are fine. The automatic backstitch would be great if it didn't leave a bird's nest most of the time. Overall, I really like this machine.
I'm in love with this machine because of the ease of use. The floating foot, the easy stitch selection, the WONDERFUL THREADER (it actually works the first time!!) I could keep on with the praises. But, seriously, I recommend this machine for anyone who quilts, beginners on up . You won't be sorry!
I was cautious ordering a machine of this price online, not only having it shipped but also not being able to sit down and try it out in person. Not having a local store to take it too incase of problems or the personal service & help you generally receive buying in-store made me wary also. None the less seeing I would have to travel a minimum of two states away (I live in the middle of nowhere) that just wasn't practical. After calling the store and asking many questions, which were all answered without any attitudes, even when they had to get up and ask their repair person a question for me, I went ahead a ordered. I received the machine in a reasonable time frame with everything but the bonus foot set, which when I called a spoke to them they sent out right ... MoreI was cautious ordering a machine of this price online, not only having it shipped but also not being able to sit down and try it out in person. I spent several hours the first night going through and trying a some of each function, I can say that so far I am very pleased with this machine. My previous machine was an original German made Pfaff Creative 1741 that is from the early 80's & still works fine but not quite big enough throat area as I do more quilting than I use too, and a long arm machine was out of my price range so I thought would be a good machine for me.I am very pleased so far and looking forward to trying some projects out when I get back home. I will update to 5 star once I used it more if I have no problems with it.
Excellent machine! I havent enjoyed sewing for a long time, and the DX5 has completely changed that for me. Its easy to use, has a great assortment of features, stitches great, and has made sewing enjoyable and fun for me, again. Very highly recommended
Even though the picture didn't show the machine itself and only showed the accessories that came with it, I contacted the seller to make sure. They were quick to respond and quick to ship. I LOVE THIS SEWING MACHINE! I debated on which Juki to get for weeks and finally settled on the DX5 because it does as much as the DX7 (minus some stitches and a few accessories/feet) for much less money. I've had it now for a couple of weeks and use it on a daily basis for quilting. It was worth every penny. Smooth, even stitching. I've been able to lower the feed dogs and do some free motion quilting with no issues. So glad I got this machine
