Nose: Light toffee, vanilla and smoke in the beginning, then fruity sweetness (apple) with grassy smell at the bottom.Palate: Sweet with moderate smoke. Pretty soft for a whiskey without age statement that is possibly mixed with very young whiskeys.Finish: Grassy smell comes back but only a flash, then apple lingers for a long time. Light sweetness stays in the mouth.Comment: This is a very nice whiskey by itself, then wonderful given the price. The whole experience is refreshing and pleasant. In the lighter flavored whiskey category, this one tops many others and is better than I expected.

A pleasant and unexpected surprise

I normally drink The Glenlivet 15-year old, and Johnny Walker Green (another 15-year old). Upon a store worker’s recommendation, I tried a bottle of Journey. To my surprise, this Scotch is smooth and delicate. It goes down easy and has soft hints of flavors we expect from our Scotches—so pleasant on the pallete. The “surprise” to me was the low price for such a quality Scotch. Purchase with confidence that you too may discover this quality Scotch and include it in your stash of “go to” bottles you may come to favor.

I read the reviews, and I wanted to try this because it seemed like an inside secret that this was really good at this price point. I’ve been tasting this one heads up with the Jura 12 ever since Super Bowl weekend, and the Journey has been holding it’s own, and after this long, it’s actually risen to the top based on flavor profile. The Journey is slightly “sweeter” than the 12, with less heat. By sweeter I mean that those toffee notes are more pronounced, probably because they’re not buried under the heat. This is growing on me big time, but I’d bet after one swig of Lagavulin 12, my love affair with this will be over.

Completely underrated Scotch Whiskey
8 January 2023

As most scotch aficionados will tell you, there are many surprises in the scotch world. Jura Journey is definitely one of those surprises. Clean nose with a fruity highland appeal. First taste doesn't overwhelm the senses, smooth and subtle hints of fruit dance on the palette and warm smokey pepper takes over to showcase the oak bourbon barrel finish. Very short finish works well as an after dinner cigar drink. Surprising, for an Islay isle offering. Worth the coin, and definitely worth sharing with a cigar! Enjoy.

Delicate Balance
13 January 2022

Overall: Good for the price. Not for serious scotch drinkers, but would make a nice/inexpensive gift for those just starting to explore that world.Notes: Disappointed on opening, but this started to come around a few weeks later once the bottle had a decent level of headspace. Gentle with sweet winey notes - like a watered down GM Nectar d'Oro. Pleasant long finish showcasing quality barley.

Good but Overrated
18 March 2022

Definitely overrated—not a 95 by any reasonable standard. It’s good, but there are blends that can match or exceed it. As a single-malt whisky, it’s merely average. It has a smoky quality that’s nice, but it’s accompanied by a harshness that cancels it out. I will drink and enjoy the rest of this bottle, but next time I’ll try something else. The search continues.

Nice and easy..
24 March 2023

While looking forward new whisky to try, I read about Jura Journey and bought a bottle. The overall flavor I found akin to a Highland, in that the smoke is rather subtle. It's a nice and easy drinking Scotch. The price is on par with similar single malts of 10 to 12 years in age. It's nothing out of this world, but just nice.

Perfect Scotch for Daily Casual and Beginners
2 July 2021

For a new drinker looking for an affordable daily drink. A very good blend.A tiny hint of smoke as an introduction to modern Scotch. Very smooth on the palate and very subtle at the nose. This is something you don't have to be afraid to give to your friends whom are looking to get into Scotch.I think this is a home run from Jura, philosophically. It's the perfect avenue to lure the masses in through quality. And I'm a heavy peat Lagavulin guy, through and through, and know this is the way to get the Bourbonites into the family. This will be on the shelf for all newcomer friends. The single missing star is simply because there is nothing unique for those who need that extra special something in their dram. It's just simple, smooth and delicious.

Very good scotch taken up a tier
24 March 2023

The smoothest scotch I’ve had under $50. Its a clean bright nose of islay but the sip is almost sweet vanilla(makes sense since its aged in bourbon barrels). I want to be angry as it looks like a scotch riding on a good bourbon barrel aging, but the final product is lovely and uncommon. Will buy another bottle soon!

YOUNG whiskey
26 February 2023

This coming from someone that is an avid whiskey drinker. This is below the average single malt. I had taste the 10 year and the 12 year old. This Journey went bad. Lol. There is plenty of other good choices for the same price. This one is definitely a young whiskey lacking depth and flavor.
